Lundy Island is a little known treasure of the UK. A small island situated in the Bristol Channel, it is reached via boat from the coastal village of Ilfracombe on the MS Odenburg. The 2 hour journey often showcases the wonder of marine life in the area, such as dolphins, whales and seals. They, arriving on the Island, explorers can head out to walk around its entire size, head to the pub, or watch the local wildlife.

Lundy is such a special place. I have been lucky enough to stay on the Island in one of the Landmark Trust cottages. It is an amazing experience in both winter and summer and when there are no day trips you really feel like you have the Island to yourself. Can't wait to go back. Great video, loved it when you couldn't see the lighthouse!

In Cymru, Lundy is known as Ynys Wair, which translates to ‘Gwair’s Island’. This name references an alternative name for the wizard Gwydion. Cornwall was known as West Wales by the Anglo-Saxons. The pre Anglo-Saxon is where the magic is at. Ynys Wair is also known as Avalon.

Stunning video Abbie. I went there many years ago on a photo trip and stayed the night in the old Pig Sty that used to serve the other lighthouse on the island. On the way over we spotted some Basking sharks and the captain stopped mid-channel to allow us to watch them for a few minutes. Unforgettable memories.

Very enjoyable film Abbie! I love going to islands, especially Lundy and first went there when small boats used to come out and ferry passengers in from a larger ship. On that first trip, the weather deteriorated while we were there and we nearly got stranded there. Another time, the sea was like a lake for sailing there and back. Have just booked a week there next year and can't wait!

Great video. I've had the pleasure of visiting and staying on Lundy twice, 3 days each time. Well done in getting to the far end of the island and back in the allotted time. I know how long that walk can take with all the beautiful distractions. I spent a whole day exploring and zig zagging up and down just one side of the island. You must have walked so fast! I look forward to watching your other videos 😊

There has never been a confirmed sighting of a Tiger Shark off the UK coast... If one was seen that would be HUGE news! I'd guess the Tiger Shark comment was humour riffing off what the diver jokingly said earlier; the diver was looking for seals, sharks and tigers!

We visited Lundy just last week -- it was great! Nice video, too! It was kind of scary to watch you try to get to the northern light house by climbing down the rocks! Intellectually, I knew you survived, or the video wouldn't have gotten uploaded to RU-vid, but still, made me nervous! Our visit to Lundy didn't have any mist at all while were there. Weather was very good.

Great video. The MS Oldenburg also stocks the island with groceries etc and i think it collects waste too. She is a flat bottomed river boat, not really designed for the sea, so sometimes she can bob around a bit. i live in Bideford, it sails from there too, next time go from here, Bideford has loads of history. By the way at 18:18 behind the sheep, i think that looked like a puffin.

Abbie, Been working through your vast and magnificent collection of gorgeous and inspiring walks. You said that you were going back? When you took the path north, you did not actually take the most eastern path! It is a safe path and it starts near the big white house by a small coastal hut. Also! When you got near to the North Lighthouse and looked down the steps, there are some supply ship steps to the right, safe to descend but not obvious. Those seals seem to hang out down there. Plus! Get to the top of the middle light house! Gareth

Thank you for an interesting and lovely video from Lundy. My friend and I were watching it out in the distance as we were walking from Westward Ho! and almost all the way to Padstow, wondering how the island really is. I didn't know it is possible to camp there. That could be a plan some day :-) And how interesting to know that Lundy is the old Norse word for puffin. The Norwegian word for puffin today is lundefugl, and "fugl" means "bird" :-) I didn't know the connection.
