A day with DGT Pegasus - a magical chess board + a massive giveaway! 

First of all thank you for giving such a good opportunity to all the chess players not only to win this chess board but also many other things that you have done to grow the chess community and it was very heart touching to see you teach those childrens. The board is really awesome as most players including myself calculate better on the board than on a screen. It helps us visualise properly and just looking at the board and the knight left me in awe. It will make playing online tournament so much better as it's hard to focus on a screen for a long period of time. A really great creation by DGT kinda like making our childhood dream come true!

A few months ago I came across a reel on Instagram of a person playing chess blind fold against 3 players. It got me curious how was that even possible. That was the beginning of my curiosity which turned in passion soon as more I started to study the chess strategies. That chess player was non other than 5 times world Champion Magnus Carlsen. Then I came across other great chess grandmasters and amazing RU-vid channel like Chess base india, Gotham chess, Gm hikaru. Ever since my life has changed for better with chess. Having a DTG Pegasus would be the most amazing thing to have. I have been playing chess everyday and trying new strategies of chess opening, middle games and end games. Since I don't have anyone who actually likes to play chess in my family and friends, it's been a bit difficult. If I could have the DGT Pegasus I will be able to analyse my games and level up. It will be a great motivation for me. Chess is not just a board game for me it has been a great hobby and motivation for me. How every move decides the fate of the game and how all exchanges are not the same as it gets someone in a better position. It made me look at life in a new way. If I could win this DGT Pegasus I can visualise and calculate my game better. It will help in a better analysis and level up my game as a 3d board give us a better experience. Quite impressed with board which actually solves physical single player chess problem and looks elegant too! When I was kid I used to play tournaments, but eventually got busy with school life and limited myself to just playing school competitions. After long time, after chess boom in 2020 started playing again but this time online. Playing digitally is good but I always miss touch feel of the game . Also I am planning to get official FIDE rating for which practice on board would make more sense. The Dgt pegasus board is awesome. It has very good design and it is easy to set up. I loved it. I have some health issues at the moment which prevents me from going to irl chess tournaments so such a board would bring the feel of actually playing in an irl tournament to my home. Hello, Chessbase India Team and Sagar sir!! So I come from Jaipur where chess is not that popular yet and I am trying to popularise it by meeting all the chess lovers of the city. The best thing about this DGT Chess board is it is breaking the stereotypes of chess being boring and old fashioned to Fun and Modern. I am also looking to give chess classes in which this board will help me to attract the kids and their parents and i also have a job in an MNC where I can take this board and everyone will be amazed too. And my family also hates me being on the Phone playing chess so they would change their behaviour if I reduce my screen time because of this DGT board. In short I need it the most...

This is a great initiative by DGT. All those who want to move ahead in chess give a large amount of time to it in in the day online. This increases their screen time which is bad for their eyes. Also, the amount of pleasure we get by playing it physically cannot be compared with the online pieces.

This is a nice idea for those who don't have playing partners like me. We can't setup the normal board while playing a online rapid game as it would take a lot of time but through this when the lights are telling our opponent's move is a lot easier. In the north part of India there are less tournaments as compared to the southern region, so we don't get much otb tournament practice. This would help me a lot to give a tournament feel while playing online games.

I pull up the chair, adjust my pieces and start my game..the invisible opponent moves in with his mysterious presence.. I become his body to make moves and I wonder am I playing against myself? The endless stare at the screen, glare from better half reminding to take care of my eyes..all that now thing of past as my Pegasus lets me fly high in the creative sky of chess feeling the real board, the pieces and that wonderful over the board feeling.( Not to forget the sight of muscular knight hopping up the board😊) Its the best of both worlds, ai digital playing arena and the ever romantic real chess over the board. I loved the board and the pieces, and I loved seeing how simple it is to use and how useful it would be for me because I can't visualize the pieces and moves properly on the screen, I always make blunders that way, so I always have a physical board next to the computer to play the moves on it, decide what moves to make and then transfer them to the 2D board on the computer. Pegasus would do it for me automatically!!! Playing online as if it were over the board looks like a dream!!! Bets regards!! Bye

Sagar sir the board is almost perfect in every aspect but the most i like is the lichess online connection app and if i get the board i will finally be able to learn to play chess on a real board and it will be a good side activitie for me to do after studying for neet exam like 8 hours 😅 a day

Technology has always fascinated me, especially in the field of chess and sports. Technology makes things easier for humans. For me, analyzing my tournament or online blitz games is something I have felt difficult to re-enter the same lines again on the ChessBase Windows application. First up, thank you so much for organizing this giveaway. The board is very different from any boards I have seen both online and offline, both in terms of looks and the way it is used. One of the biggest factors for me personally that I take into account while choosing a good board, is the size and quality of pieces, and the pieces on this board look and feel amazing, and are also futuristic. The lighting and the technology behind it that enables you to play with computers and other players on a physical board is something that I really wanted to try for a long time, and this looks like the perfect place to begin. The operating system looks easy to use and fun to play. This is a boon for someone like me who lives alone and plays chess all the time on my phone but craves that physical touch of a board. I prefer playing on a physical board and have been doing so in my office with my friends during breaks, but this can change the whole game and give a better overall playing experience. As i am a 1100 elo player i just blunder pieces and do not analyze a single game. This might help me in overcoming my laziness of analysing games. My parents also support me in chess but due to studies i can't play chess online all the time. i can practice on this chess board and become a better chess player. Pretty nice! I tried using my regular board to play online chess but I have to look at my ipad to then make the moves on the board. It doesn't work so well because my eyes drift to the ipad for calculation since that's where the moves come in. I have a Square Off unit as well which I have mixed feelings about but it gets the job done. I hope to see more and better chess technology in the near future for those of us who want to play OTB but only have online opponents.

everytime i go to an OTB tournament it takes me a couple games to get my eyes set to the board, this is a great way to practice OTB against an online opponent

The DGT chessboard is a wonderful and much needed blend of over the board chess and technology. This board allows us to practice playing over the board even though you dont have an opponent opposite you which is so wonderful because you can practice actual visualisation and calculation which cant be done as effectively in online chess. I don't have any friends to play chess with and I always play online. I wanted to play on board because that is more fun so that's why I like this and it doesn't affect my eyes as well.

I'd love to play on board games , online. 2D board is so different from an on board experience. You can see the piece moves on the board which isn't what on board games are like. Also it can only enhance your vision so much. Challenge with on board games is that you're only limited to the number of players present in your vicinity. It would be really cool to play against people across the world on board.

This chess set solve two major problems of a chess player 1) finding opponents 2) confusion when playing On Board after playing too many games on PC. And a Bonus, it will record all the games which is a great deal for intermediate level player. I am so disappointed I missed the giveaway!

The idea of it creating a PGN for every game I play is very interesting... I could use it to brag about a game I won against my uncle even after two years from playing it 😅 Being more serious, it would be a very helpful tool to train on, and visualise how an OTP tournament would play out instead of training online, to find the OTP atmosphere not as familiar as the one you been training on.

It will be rotated among our student community weekly and I will play them online so that they get familiar with illegal moves , en passant and offline chess which is different from online chess Most of my friends play online so for the offline tournaments it would be if great help

Innovative, and very nice idea that you did Sagar... always admire whatever you do for spreading chess like this, and for the people who are under-privileged. [It reminds me of how, somebody kept a computer somewhere in one of our villages... and even though the kids did not know English - were _very very adept and good_ at using, playing and learning!] Thanks for the contest - I hope you will consider me. I have already told you my current chess story (in a previous comment) of how, it is almost impossible to find steady and good opponents online *at the time you want* - there is always some Arena, some tournament, yes - but it is either very early or very late/interferes with working hours, etc. So, this DGT Pegasus would be great with the engine "calibration" and playing with it. [I also prefer longer time controls - 15+10 at least]. That way, I hope I can improve enough, and _eventually_ play in the faster arenas. Update: Since I got ChessBase, *I have managed to improve my ChessBase Tactics rating to 2300 - hope to reach FIDE Master soon* ! I have seen such concepts of smart chess boards. They are _really expensive_ , but sounds like a great companion. To tell you a personal story: my uncle had bought me a "pocket chess computer" that looked like a calculator. It had like 100 levels, of more "time to think". I remember I got from level A3 to B8 or something... (this was early 2000s). [After I had beaten the whole mohalla that is... 🙂...] Really wish I had something like that now! The _other aspect_ of this is, I have a small magnetic board - I play with a friend nearby (he is okay, but again, harder to setup time between us as well!) I've always preferred playing on a physical board more. DGT Pegasus is *highly rated* , and _both the board and the pieces look great_ ! I love how the pieces are heavy/well built (unlike Chessnut Air's cheap pieces - that I compared online). The reviews are better for the software I think (better than SquareOff's products - based on Amzn reviews).

A person at the age of 15 with a power of -5 it could be very helpful for me to have that board. It could reduce my screen time a lot and could help me improve my chess. Also, my aunt has a center called Balshiksha where there are chess classes being conducted and they could also get interested and more motivated to play chess by seeing this unique board. Being part of communities that organize classical chess tournaments, I cherish the deep and strategic nature of these games. However, one challenge I often face is getting distracted while playing long games. I tend to switch to new tabs and multitask, which affects my focus and performance. I have started playing chess very recently. I hope this board will help me stay more focused on the game with the physical pieces and also practicing with playing more and more games won’t also be a problem as I can play online. Otherwise I don't have many friends who are interested in chess so getting a partner to play and play with the physical pieces doesn’t go hand in hand for me. However, this board may give me that opportunity.

My elder sister is a taluka level chess winner and she was gifted with plastic tournament chess set from one of the trainers. Since she won the match my interest towards chess increased so I bought that set with me to my hostel. I would give it to her so she can analyse and play good chess.

I want this DGT board because every time when i play in online and keep the moves I'am being disturbed a lot in time management keeping here a move keeping there a move and also i do this because for now I am not going for much tournaments and also in exam times I cannot even go for even 2 tournaments mostly also there are facilities of analyzing and engines which I'am tired of searching stronger engines it also reduces screen time also all of them in one place it is gonna going to bee a really great tool and mainly who is not going out playing a lot i would say it is a dream for them. thanks for giving this oppourtunity chessbaseindia

It will be very had to win bullet on this , but it Does look facinating and temting ,just like you i also go to the NGO in lucknow and teach them mathematics and chess , they will enjoy it i am sure of it and many more will join to play if i bring DGT board to them , i am a student so i can't afford it right now....
