Thanks to Cameron from Sunday Motors, I got the chance to drive the Yaris GR for the day to find out if it lives up to all the hype. Follow me on instagram: @davidbournephotography
The Rallye version (UK circuit pack, Germany performance pack) was reviewed alot and the suspension is a bit firmer, it's not a grand tourer at all. But it's all right..
Out of those two, Miata. That doesn’t take away from the Yaris at all, but the Miata is fun at any time. Even my drive to work it’s fun. Let alone on a twisty road or on track.
@@DavidBournePhotoandVideo Sweet! I am in the US so I am waiting for the GR Corolla. Only thing is I have an opportunity this week to get a ND2 Miata in a spec that is hard to find. I am having a hard time deciding if it’s worth getting the Miata now or wait for the GR Corolla or another Miata. This will be my only car and I can get away with having a Miata 97% of the time. Is the sacrifice of practicality worth the fun of owning a Miata?
@@spartanV48 the Rolla should be a sensational bit of kit. That’s a tough call you’ve got. If it’s going to be your only car and you don’t have access to another car at all, then it may be an issue I guess? For me, I’ve had my RF for coming up to 5 years and haven’t been caught out. But I also have access to the wife’s VW golf if I need to pick up a bulky item. So it’s less of an issue for me.
@@DavidBournePhotoandVideo I do have a roommate with a sedan, so that helps, but I can’t necessarily rely on it. I don’t need the extra storage, it’s more I’m not sure how much I’ll miss bringing people which does happen like 2% of the time. I have a GR86 right now and it’s a bit too serious of a car for me. Is there a bit of play in the Yaris kind of like how the Miata doesn’t take itself too seriously at least in comparison to a GR86?
@@spartanV48 I worried I’d get caught out needing to give lifts, but thankfully that hasn’t happened once. But maybe that’s just cos people don’t want to hang out with me 😆 It’s personal opinion I guess but I wouldn’t say the GR Yaris is more “fun” and less “serious” than the 86. Yaris is certainly a lot faster and needs to be driven quicker to enjoy it fully, whereas the 86 can be fun at lower speeds too.
