Initially I was so excited for this announcement, but then I heard Frank… TJ Rotolo IS Frank West. It’s not the same without him. I’m glad I still have the original
If they actually do bother doing some kind of legit ground up remake, I think making items NOT respawn on area reload would be a huge boon to the game. I’m sure eventually a new meta would arise, but it would make for a lot more interesting of a playthrough than “quickstep, triple book small chainsaw” for 90% of the run.
Its a good idea for a game honestly. I think most people would hate it but if you did it right it'd be cool. You could ferry and stockpile weapons around for when you really needed them for a boss fight which would be pretty sweet.
Hard mode: No respawning items, same timer, maybe getting shot really hurts or takes more than orange juice to fix. Easy mode: Respawning items, lax timer, same health system Also, I think they should have a proper ammo inventory system rather than firing 20 shots then throwing away the entire weapon. lol
Here's hoping for the best. This is likely being used to see if it'd be worth investing into a new mainline game. And with Capcom being on their redemption arc, I'd love to see them take a crack at a new Dead Rising game that's both appealing to newcomers and veterans.
Did you see the gameplay teaser? Literally the same game and animations you love with updated graphics. AND THEY ADDED STAIRS TO THE VENT TO THE SAFEROOM SO SURVIVORS ARENT FIGHTING TO CLIMB UP!
@@WeLiftTogether that’d be awesome. Being my favorite game of all time I can’t wait to see how it plays. I’m very optimistic considering this might be based on the original source code according to STiP0’s ideas but nothings confirmed
remember there is like a 90% chance the original gets removed from steam so when this comes out so buy the original next time its on sale or something if you want to have it
Get the 2016 release while the gettings good fellas. You know they're gonna pull a Square-Enix with the Last Remnant PC release. The HD Remaster of that game replaced the OG, so thats obviously happening here.
@@BacklogBuster i guess at the same time though Frank did not really always look the same as he did in 2005 to 2006 and with only a teaser trailer he could change
@@BacklogBuster It's funny since he was pretty ugly in early builds of Dead Rising. I get the idea of not needing a protagonist not needing to look like a Hollywood Star who spends a majority of their time with personal trainers, but maybe it wouldn't have sold as well if they kept his massive nose.
@@alexanderrobins7497 I honestly prefer how frank looked in dr1. I felt like he got worse in dr2 onwards. I mean he looked normal like everyone else did.
For me, this is my holy grail game. This is the one game(or series) that I always hoped I would see in an announcement of any kind. Once it’s on my game shelf. My collection will feel complete. I am hopeful and will be optimistic about this game. Just will have to wait and see how it turns out. I will get it and love it however it turns out. I just have to be glad that it is happening! Liked the video! You got a sub!
I could see them making the convicts not respawn after killing them, I get that they are probably the easiest boss in the game but to players who don't know the best way to fight them they can be really annoying just fighting once
He looks too old and like his Off The Record appearance. The whole point of his appearance in Off The Record is that he aged terribly and let himself go. Making 36 year old Frank have that same look is a strange choice as he looked like an average faced 36 year old who took care of himself to a decent amount his whole life. Voice actor loss is a big hit as well, the original nailed the asshole reporter at the start but convincingly makes him a hero by the end. New one sounds kinda generic and hasn't even got a similar voice. I sure hope they don't have a quicksave option, checkpoints yes but being able to save only at a bathroom added some urgency and the addition of quicksaves would make them nullified.
I hope the Dead Rising remake is not afraid to do something new like add new locations and story content. It would be boring if it’s just the same content verbatim. Heck, add combo weapons to give a tease for a DR2 remake. And when it comes to the timer, I wouldn’t mind a casual mode for gamers that are just…. BAD at games. But a Dead Rising game IS NOT a Dead Rising game if the development is not made around a time limit FIRST before adding in the casual mode. It’s like making a Persona game without the social stat barriers to make you actually engaged with the game outside the dungeons. Both Dead Rising and Persona ask the player to actually plan ahead. That’s the fun of it
In my heart I want the same thing. Expand the mall, add extra content (new survivors, new psychopaths, new weapons, yeah sure add combo weapons whatever, new areas, new minigames, etc) but in my mind, I know its just going to be a 1-1 remake with some minor quality of life changes/adjustments.
I don't think I would want to see combo weapons since that and the camera (or lack of) made Frank and Chuck feel like two very distinct characters. Having each protagonist feel so much like each other would get boring quick (especially with franchises that refuse to stop focusing on specific character without giving them a break). I agree on everything else though.
Maybe im outta line saying this but im kinda sick of remakes and remasters. Sequels I get. But i get so tired that a large amount of major game releases nowadays are remasters and remakes. Yeah a touch of cleanup is nice, but why not funnel all that into a new creation instead of piggybacking what already existed. I know im bound to be disagreed with or potentially get hate, but i think remakes and remasters are just getting boring now. That said if people like them then they clearly work.
Remake's and Remasters probably wouldn't be as successful if the industry actually pushed out great new game's consistently but they don't they always push out bad and anti consumer games.
My hype was through the roof, and then he spoke. My interest died instantly. That's when I realized how much Frank's voice added to this franchise, and why I always prefer playing 1 and Off The Record over the other games. I'm probably in the minority on this. More power to those that enjoy the remake/'remaster' but the voice is a deal breaker for me, it's not the same without TJ. I'll stick with the og version, unless someone mods the voice back, maybe i'll give it a try then.
Also totally agree about the timer, it’s essential to the experience. All you have to do is fail the story and roam around for about an hour before you realize the game is not nearly as fun without the ever changing objectives
July 1st they are holding a show case to reveal the details and too me I think this screams Capcom M2 all over it 😅 but I could be wrong definitely a outsource if not M2
Likely going to be the exact same game with a new coat of paint. As much as I loved the original, I can feel when a product is made purely out of profit rather than passion, so we'll see.
I rrally think they will make a 1:1 remaster, I saw on the internet a leak which shows that the files and folders are almost the same as the OG DR1, so the good thing is that it will be a 1:1 remaster on MT framework, the bad thing is that IA will probably be shit again xd
I disagree that remakes don't have a purpose solely because it allows us to play the games that aren't available anymore. Obviously that doesn't count for all, especially dead rising.
my assumption is this is a test run for the series. if i’m not mistaken (which i very well may be) this remake/master won’t be the RE engine but another engine (i forgot which one it is). i think if this does well then they’ll give dr2 the full RE style remake
Regardless of content changes, id say if DRDR renews interests in the og, id say your old guides might help some new fans. I know they still help me a ton
More to come this Monday at Capcom's Showcase. Hopefully we will know more about development, and gameplay. I am hoping for good things, but you make a lot of good points. Raises a lot of questions.
The trailer said 2024, so I’m pretty sure it’s coming out this year. Also they’re showing more information about the game July first on their showcase where they’re probably going to show gameplay.
Agree with all your points, this is just a cash grabbing outsourced project capcom has brushed off to another developer which will suffer from modern age gaming marketing practices, dlc, huge download size, more glitches, more updates The only way this could be good if it was a complete re-envisioning made in Japan by capcom
tbf frank was never an attractive guy, he was just kind of an average looking dude. i honestly don’t mind that they made him uglier, i think it adds more to his character. he’s SUPPOSED to be an average joe thrown in way over his head not some model like the RE characters
@@dawsonh420 until you dressed him in the ammo belt costume and saw how jacked he was. We’re supposed to believe that he’s covered wars, but more recent wars, not the Civil War. He looks more like Barnaby than Frank West. And we haven’t even seen the other characters yet. Who knows what trainwrecks are waiting around the corner.
I’m for one excited, yeah the origins voice actor is gone but to experience the first game with a new coat of paint will be super fun to me (the original is a bit burnt out after 7 day survivor loll)
@@BacklogBuster As I said, it could absolutely use some tinkering and tlc to make it more appealing but the most interesting aspect is the lack of save state and constant need for food. Max time runs in inf are a blast, 5 and 7 day are a breeze
I mean sure there are some games no matter how old i could go back and still love, but be real some older games even if we love them can feel real bad compaerd to anything out now. When done right Remasters/Remakes can make an old fav way better, hell i still play the remake of Shadow of the Colossus because the updated look alone made the world so damn nice to be in. I also for the first time finished RE4 remake (never did beat the og for some reason).
I feel like hate on it and pushing this idea through Scalebound, is a really big stretch and a provoking take. Many other games DID made it. Just a few didn't. What's really a big deal is that... making the old game again? Will it be updated enough? That's a big question indeed but we have to see gameplay first. Saying that the game is DOOMED to fail from the very first teaser is unecessarely. Yes we can be sceptical, and we should, but not with like... Nothing. And i don't have personally Xbox of old age to play it the definitive og way, nowadays. I do like the stuff I've had but I don mind zoomers to try it, and, who knows, let capcom know people like it and make more. Or at least fix the 4. Etc.
What hate? When did I say it was doomed to fail? All I said is that theres no gameplay. Until theres a hard release date theres always a chance a project just doesn't come to fruition.
When a good game gets a remaster I'm always cautious if they have bad games. Final fantasy remasters were so bad they had to release new remasters, and all people care about is the successful remake of 7. Instead of remaking a good game, why not fix Dead Rising 4? Sounds like Capcom just wants to milk the cash cow instead of doing something interesting. The resident evil remakes weren't even that good. Everyone lost their minds when they heard of RE4 remake, Half Life Alyx, etc. Games that are so desired. Then when those games come out, they're only okay and no one's excitement is met. It's like how everyone wants Mother 3 to come out, or the DQ3 remaster. Nobody is gonna love them half as much as they claim they will.
I hope they bring back Terence James for the role because it was said he was interested in returning to voice Frank back for DR4 so casting him shouldn't be that insane especially with people wanting him to come back. lets just hope this isn't buggy af while being filled to the absolute brim with cartoonish "combo weapons" that one shot everything
I played yooka laylee after hat in time and the quality of life was such a downgrade that I just dropped off. Sucks because there was definitely good to be found there under the Jank
It takes two to tango. If TJ doesn't want to do it he has no obligation to. If Capcom wanted to replace him with someone cheaper or whatever thats a different issue. Never gonna know either way so its not worth speculating on.
Also dead rising 2 is arguably the best game in the franchise because of how crazy the gameplay was with combo weapons and dr3 was ok and neither of those games had an incredible protagonist and voice actor. Dead rising 4 wasn't bad because of Frank's voice actor, it was because the writing was terrible and the directors stripped away 75% of what made the dead rising games special
I can’t speak for everyone else, but I love DR for the gameplay and the voice acting particularly Frank’s. I don’t hate the aspect of a remake, TJ’s performance added to the atmosphere and spirit of Dead Rising. It’s like when Michael Ironside stopped voicing Sam Fisher. It’s not quite the same.
@@sockit2u123 I agree tj was iconic and it's definitely a bummer but I guess I'm a little more optimistic about the bigger picture. I'm also just more happy that Capcom hasn't forgotten about dead rising because I had convinced myself the franchise was permanently dead.
@@trentgaskill1278 4 was terrible because of the gameplay as well. No timer, food was dumbed down, weapons were meh. 4 was also terrible BECAUSE of the voice actor and the direction Frank's character was taken, may as well have been a new character.
This game looks more like a suped up version of the original Dead Rising 1 engine. That's why it's called a Remaster. The lighting is horrid, detail in the world is sparse, but the textures and modeling is decent. So, that probably means a lot of what is in DR1 is going to stay.
I don’t like his look but I could have dealt with that if they kept the voice. Without the voice, it’s not Frank. I also don’t trust them to not inject “modern audience” things and changes into the game. I’ll stick to the 2006 and 2016 releases.
@@cantnevercould9660 I get that it’s not what ppl wanted but the trailer is like a minute long. How are we supposed to gauge how the whole game is going to be off of a short teaser trailer?
The "Remaster" looks ugly. Frank is ugly. The graphics look like Street Fighter, and a game from 2016. The trailer was presented like Street Fighter. This is bizarre. It's like they wanted to release this in 2016, halted for some reason, and dug it up out of their hard drives to release it in 2024.
Seriously, anyone who's even the slightest of a graphics snob should be LAUGHING at this trailer. And while graphics don't really matter, that's the whole point of a remaster so I'm going to criticize it based off that.
