Lena Headey looks back at her time playing Cersei on Game of Thrones in this extended edition of Season 8’s “The Cast Remembers” behind-the-scenes series.
In my opinion she was GOT’s greatest character, the most complex and riveting to watch. The Lannister siblings were all incredible. Kudos to Lena Headey.
yeah when she did the walk of shame because her son was starving himself... gosh what a moment, she loved him more than her immense ego... and then he went of and killed himself and she couldn't see how she could have prevented that because of her ego so she just decided to start blaming him, she stopped loving him and just came completely undone and unhinged ... riveting character arc ... we just see her and Dany unravel and we're happy Cersei comes undone but she took Dany down with her and that just broke our hearts.
@@HisameArtwork dude, you can appreciate how a character is written without thinking they're a good person. Al they said was that she made got interesting and that they liked the actor, calm down.
Even to this day, I still don't understand why Lena didn't get many awards for her outstanding portrayal of Cercei Lannister. What a gifted actress. Happy GoT anniversary!! 🍷
A glass of wine and a quiet time to observe what ur plans have earned is such a delight. Cersi is a walking mind so it's very convenient that's how she spent most of the show.
@@v.3486 except we always got to see her schemes play out one way or another. season 8 didn't showcase that. it was literally her complaining about elephants and drinking wine while the rest of the world was moving. the writers did her character dirty.
@@elliotanders2363 Cersei consumed all her pawns earlier. She acted out of despair not power like she used to. The writers did all the main characters wrong they turned Tyrion from the sharpest mind to a dumb man, Cersei from the most powerful woman in westeros to a depressed woman, Daenerys from a kind merciful queen into a mad jealous queen.
@@BackwardsComma Honestly having him run back to Cersei is exceptable because at the end of the day, they are still family. But one single line, just one line ruin Jaime completely.
The scene with Mark Addy is one of the highlights of the show. I loved Cersei from that point on, together with the scene with Sean Bean when she finished by "in the game if thrones, you win or you die, there is no middle ground." I wish we would have seen more interactions like this with Robert and Ned, it was brilliantly acted.
Lena's performance was absolutely STELLAR. Its a travesty that she was not the recipient of awards for her work, she played one of the greatest villains OF ALL TIME
I love that one of her favourite scenes is the one with Robert when she finally asks about Lyanna. The acting and writing blew me away with that scene and to this day I think about how powerful it is and how there’s almost a moment where this is Cersei confirming she has to kill Robert 100%
@@dreamfyre3868 yaa true! .. but ruthlessness kinda defines cersei's character .. she is a badass Machiavelliant women who holds the power to rule westros
She died with her legacy build in lies crushing her with the only person in the world she loves and her unborn baby dying at her side, it is more than just "bricks"
For 8 seasons, Lena is from the one who still main her performances still the same and keep amaze those people who watching it. Thank you Lena. It's been good to watch Cersei evolving for 8 years! I will miss every single Game of Thrones scene with you in it
She was the backbone of the show. The intrigues at King's Landing - and then of the whole show - were pivotal to keep us interested going forward. It was never boring thanks to Lena.
so real!! i started this show when i was in eigth grade, im a junior in college now majoring in classical studies and working on my own fantasy novel. this show and its impact definitely influenced my life!! cerseis performance alone opened my mind up in a whole new way.
Shame that Lena never won a Emmy’s for playing Cersei. The most complex character in GOT and played flawlessly by Lena. Not an easy feat. You won my heart though and will be remembered till the end of time. Happy anniversary!
I'm currently watching GoT for the 4th time now and every time I watch it, I sympathize with Cersei more and more and have a better understanding of her cruel/plotting nature. Regardless of how you feel about Cersei, you have to love Lena's performance of this complex character.
She was always my favourite character, and I was a show watcher before reading the books, Lena Heady made her likeable even though the character itself was morally questionable at times.
I can't believe that her last scene to be filmed was that funniest stair scene where she pretended she did not exist while walking past The Hound and The Mountain hahaha, absolute favorite portrayal from her, she owned this role
Cersei and Dany were the reason why I started watching GoT. You can hate them, but you can't deny...they both brought something different to the show. They are both incredible, strong characters in their own ways. It's just sad they both died...
Lena was such a goddess of an actress, and for the last season they literally had her do nothing but stare out a window. I will never be able to let go how much D&D shat on ending GOT.
This reminds md of when headey recounted her comic con story in one of her interviews and people hesitated to talk to her or even get an autograph and some even called her a b*tch, and there she knew she did her job right. Cersei was supposed to be hated but now she's the bittersweet memory for all of us.
Incredible acting by Lena Headey!!! This character , while so hated, was so well portrayed!! And beautiful woman, really radiated that ruthless character and power
i’ve been watching all these videos and let’s be real here: the whole cast couldn’t have been any better. literal perfection. world class acting from nikolaj coster-waldau, lena headey, peter dinklage, emilia clarke, the list goes on. All these individuals are superstars. (PSA: thank you to everyone except for the directors who ruined the final season)
It was the producers and writers, the direction was phenomenal ( I mean, the season 8 was shit but the symbolism of dark wings behind dany was amazing)
@@zammmerjammer I don't have the hatred most people do for the final season, but what I definitely say and what's consistent with how the last season went is how rushed it felt. Not have at the minimum 8 episodes, preferably 10 really is where it hurt for me.
You are a brilliant actress! Noone else could've brought Cersei to the screen. Noone. We have loved (and hated) every scene. To make so many people feel so intensely about a character is so hard, but you made it look so damn easy. Thank you for bringing Cersei to life, she will always be a brilliant Villian!
Definitely one of the best characters throughout the entire show, only fell off at the end due to having so little scenes. The rest was always on point though
I thank God for willing Lena Heady to play Cersei Lannister. I love love LOVE Cersei so much because of how on point Lena play her. She and Heath Ledger as Joker, played villain to a T.
Fun fact; Lena Heady is the only reason I started watching GOT. I had no idea what it was but I’ve been a fan of hers and it ended up being Game of Thrones 😮
There are so many favourite scene of her that I really like, the moment she lost Myrcella, the sweet revenge she gave towards ellaria sand, the opening scene for season 5 I think (not really her, young cersei but nice plot), and that 'power is power' scene oh my
Will always be the best character in the show she was the main reason I watched this show. Season 8 did her dirty but even with season 8 she will always be the best character. Every scene with her in is just so amazing. She is extremely underrated and it saddens me! She will always be QUEEN 👑
