Brad sets the record straight on what he saw that fateful day after another Ranger reached out to say that what Brad remembers from a specific moment in Gothic Serpent (aka Blackhawk Down) is not entirely accurate in his recollection. In try standup form, Brad wanted to immediately set the record straight and acknowledge we don’t quite understand or see the same thing as someone else in combat. Check out the full catch-up interview with Brad 2/9 on Combat Story.

Brad Thomas is a class act and a great American. Takes a lot of integrity to admit when a mistake was made or even the perception of a mistake. That's pretty rare these days. Glad guys like him are on our side.

Great interview, it's crazy how when we're in that position and to remember it far from what it was I can only say the brain let's you process and work through the situation in its own time. It may take us 30-40 years or maybe the next day. God bless you for wanting to right the wrong in this way. NSDQ......

So if the guy wasn't picking up fast ropes for inventory, what was he doing?

WTF??? so what WAS he doing...

Ok so I can only assume they were running low on fast ropes, and maybe he was gathering them, knowing they would need them on insertions to try to rescue the guys that were pinned down???

He literally doesn’t clarify or correct anything here. What was the Lieutenant doing with the ropes?
@TheRiley780
@TheRiley780 7 месяцев назад
He was collecting them during an active gunfight because he was accountable for each one to turn in after getting back to base. Brad said he was running around with them slung on his shoulder.

@@TheRiley780 I thought that was the dumb and tactically counterproductive reason he’d Assumed was the reason. He’d originally just thought the guy was a weird rope collector who forgot he was at work?
@randomman057

@@TheRiley780 It was more likely he was clearing them from the road in case the Blackhawks needed to land in that spot or so the convoy didn't have to drive over them.

In the book Black Hawk Down, Dan schilling was doing the same thing. Whe he asked DEVGRU SEAL Jon Gay for help, he answered: Forget about the f**king rope.
