one criticism i have of the device it is optimized for mounting over rightsize,( some people may have limited hearing in one ear), it would therefore be a good idea to offer the option of mounting on either side of frame.

Hi Shaun, OrCam have considered this and their new design will be able to be mounted on either side. I've seen a prototype and it looks very good, hopefully it will release soon. Thanks for watching!

Hello Sir i've been looking for some documentation about the technical part, but i wasn't able to find what i needed, i'm a robotic engineering and process control student and i'm doing a project on this device can you help me find the documentation that would help me with my research?

Hi Nourhane, I think your best bet would be to reach out to OrCam themselves. Their contact information can be found at www.orcam.com/contact-us/. Thanks for watching!

My son is visually impaired (Cortical Visual Impairment from lack of oxygen after cardiac arrest) and loves to play video games but is unable to read the words. For example, if there is a quest or a message that pops up he needs to have someone else read it for him to continue. I am wondering how the Orcam MyEye works for reading words/text on a television screen.
@ChiLighthouse
@ChiLighthouse 6 лет назад
Hi Dawn, great question! I have used Orcam to read emails from the computer screen, and read text messages from my smart phone, so I think it would do just fine on the TV!

How does this device work for reading words/sentences at intermediate and far distances (greater than 6+ feet)? Also, does it work in darker lighting conditions? Thanks!
@lukescriven827
@lukescriven827 7 лет назад
Hi Ana, the quality of the OCR at a distance will be dependent on the size and contrast of the text you are trying to read, and the lighting conditions. In the new version of the software (version 8) Orcam will now tell you if the light level is too low. Like any OCR, it relies on decent lighting to get good results. Thanks for watching!

@ChiLighthouse
@ChiLighthouse 7 лет назад
Hi Sian, You can point to individual sentences but not letters or words as far as I know. The rate of speech can be controlled and goes from very slow to very fast. Thanks for watching!

I only have vision in my left eye. Can the device be mounted to the left hand side of my glasses, and how permanent is the mount? I usually change glasses every 3-5 years.
@ChiLighthouse
@ChiLighthouse 8 лет назад
+rml695 Unfortunately OrCam has to be mounted to the right side of the glasses in order for it to work, however I think you would find it would work fine for you. The mount can easily be taken off and fits onto almost any pair of glasses! Thanks for watching!

Can the speaker be moved? Is it hearing aid compatible? I only have limited hearing in my left ear and sometimes wear a hearing aid. Also can you do a video of the voice at a sensible pace or different paces? I am really surprised you didn't cover those basics in your video but I guess not being frail in any way you don't think of these things do you? Thank you kindly this technology is very exciting.
@ChiLighthouse
@ChiLighthouse 7 лет назад
Hi Mrs Mum, the speaker cannot be moved unfortunately, it can only be mounted to the right side of the glasses. OrCam does not have Bluetooth to connect wirelessly to hearing aids, however as the speaker of the device does not go in the ear it should not interfere with a hearing aid if you are wearing one. The voice speed can be slowed down or speeded up depending on your preferences. Thanks for watching!

Hi, Does it read for example a price tag, if I am in a shop and the price tag is directly on the product, example of a medication where the price tag is added on to it not printed on the box, like a small sticker.
@ChiLighthouse
@ChiLighthouse 7 лет назад
Hi Marc, it can read any printed text as long as the text is not too cursive. If the price tag is small you will have to hold it closer to the camera in order for it to read successfully. Thanks for watching!

Can you please tell me: what's the input and output for the wall charger?
@ChiLighthouse
@ChiLighthouse 6 лет назад
Can you explain what you mean exactly? If you buy it in the U.S. it has a U.S. plug, but can take voltage from 100-240v. There is also a USB charging option so you can charge it anywhere in the world.

Hi does it work for driving and reading closeness for registration plates or distance? or is there a enhancement to identify tools if your a tradesman
@ChiLighthouse
@ChiLighthouse 7 лет назад
I'm not sure about reading number plates, if you have a visual impairment that would benefit from using OrCam then it is likely that you would not be able to drive. In terms of identifying tools, you may be able to use the 'product recognition' capability to teach OrCam what each tool is called, but that's something you might ant to reach out to OrCam to confirm. Thanks!

Is there a visual field requirement?
@ChiLighthouse
@ChiLighthouse 7 лет назад
No, no visual field requirement. The device can be used by people who are totally blind or people with any type of visual impairment, as it doesn't rely on enhancing existing vision. Thanks for watching!

+23myvision There's two versions of the Orcam, the MyReader which just has the OCR functionality and the MyEye which has the OCR functionality along with the facial and product recognition. The MyReader is currently $2500 and the MyEye is $3500. Thanks for watching!
