Same video, new title. We made good progress on the treehouse during my last three trips to the country. I have a new apprentice, but I am not sure about keeping her. She is right way too often. Makes me a little uncomfortable. After all, I am the one that supported us by framing houses for almost ten years. But whatever skills I had; most are no longer around.

So great watching you and your help figure stuff out. She is an enthusiastic and patient lady. The kids will love it when its done.

Thanks Johnny! Kind words always appreciated. Between the two of us we can muddle through, usually. I will try not to to spend too much time up in the treehouse so that they can have a turn also. Barry

Barry, I think you and I are kindred spirits. I just added a deck on our tiny house this weekend all made out of wood I've reclaimed. Wood aint cheap so when I see it I grab it too!

Definitely went to different high schools together! I am a little hooked on salvaged wood and roadside finds. Picked up some 5/4 x 6 this morning that I spotted on my bike ride. I guess I am a little lucky in that out city picks up trash once a week (supposedly). So everyone’s repair, deck renovation, or kitchen remodel stuff is placed on the street. Contractors are supposed to use dumpsters and pay for their own disposal. Add to that my house is in a nice neighborhood and we are next to some really nice neighborhoods so someone is always upgrading something. Always a treasure out there waiting to be found. Barry

I think your Mike is picking both up. I have spent seventy plus years listening to pile drivers and a good few to small generators. I am definitely hearing both. Funny how mikes can be so hifi and at the same time distort the spacial plane! Stay well.

Looking great! Interested to see you tackle the pointed end rafters. Curious as to why you opted not to cut birds mouths on the rafters.

Yea, I am interested in figuring out that myself. My goal was not so much as to eliminate the bird mouths as it was to improve visibility from in the treehouse and appearance from the ground. There was a benefit from having just the flat landing to nail from and not having the little vertical register which a proper bird mouth gives. I am pretty sure the earth quake they had up in New York threw out some of my structure. The two support beams were no longer quite parallel so having a little location flexibility came in handy.

Hi, I love your videos. Are you in Baton Rouge? I’m just across the swamp in Lafayette.

With a name like Troy Breaux where else could be from other than Lafayette! Thanks Troy for watching and for the kind words and for commenting. All good stuff. Yup, I am a Baton Rouge boy. We are almost neighbors. Barry

Sounds like you have a pile driver in the background. Your generator??
@barrylukebuilds7894
@barrylukebuilds7894 3 месяца назад
Funny you should ask that. Yes, you are listening to the little Honda generator unable to keep a constant idle RPM. But also what you can’t hear but what we can are pile’s being driven on a bridge restoration project a few miles away. That should brings back memories!
