Barry likes to make things. He has a small foundry where non Ferris metals are cast and all sorts of items are welded. There is a wood working shop where his wooden projects are created. Home projects are ongoing like building custom steel gates and placing concrete walks. A houseboat floating on the Blood River has been the birth of many marine renovation projects and upgrades. His bride is quite the sculptor so there are lots of molds and art casts going on. And Barry was re purposing objects long before it was the cool thing to do.
Simon It was almost so more better that I should have used the term “much more better “. Anyway, thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to comment. Barry
I had a good friend who was a plumber. He had a bumper sticker on his truck that said “Old plumbers never die, they just smell that way”. Don’t take my humor wrong, I have great respect for anyone in the “trades”. I spent 37 years of my life working with them. Barry
I started feeling a little jealous when I saw you working that sand with the level in the bottom of the hole. It doesn’t get much more satisfying than screeding out some sand! Might have to buy me a truckload as well
For the life of me I couldn’t see how that led or bottom ended up in your yard, then I see the table saw. Glad you put the 4 by up to the fence, yep I learn the hard way to. That system should work great for you. Job well done Barry.
It happens to all of us from time to time. Especially it you take it to the ocean… it is a lot of work to wash it after fishing or boating all day. What is the thickness of the plexiglass?
Thank you! Kind words are always appreciated and help to keep the old man going. My only problem with the door is that the kids love to open it by pushing on the screen, and it shows,
Sorry you had to go through this. Myself would have to put a few 4x4 underneath for some added support. Can’t wait to see the 10 year report. Take care.
Robin I think we are going to be just fine. If the tree trunk becomes a liability I have a plan. It was interesting working with the climber even though he was a little…. Not sure how to describe him, let’s keep it nice and I will just say different.
Thanks Cliff! It is a PR8000W which I think is a Temu product. Very inexpensive and probably Chinese. Records on a micro SD so if I could remember I would bring another and swap them out. I didn’t have one so I can blue tooth the camera and down load individual pictures. Very slow process. Anyway, thanks for the kind words. Barry
Love the passion you put in everyone of your projects, no matter what it is you can tell your putting your heart into it, is a great thing thanks for sharing Boss!
You are going to really enjoy this. That screw led is nice. Not sure if you know, next time you look at the home depot apt for a certain product, it will also tell you the aisle and bay location. The last thing I want to do is ask someone for help--lol.
Robin Thanks for the Home Cheepo tip, that could add months to my life. I have a simple camera that records to a mini SD card. I forgot to bring a spare so all I could do was blue tooth from the camera to my phone. Very slow operation. Next trip I will remember.
Right you are Robin. Mother Nature is constantly trying to take back what we have cleared. Blackberry vines grow about 2’ a day and there are lots of other plants that insist on closing in the trails. I have created monster!
We always kept an old chain around for cutting large stump roots. Shovel a clear path just big enough to cut in. With your excavator as the ground semi dries should be doable. All you have to hand shovel is the underneath.
Can you dig down as it dries around those large matts and using your chainsaw cut them into manageable sections for use? As ten footers you should be able to salvage them while it is dry. They will be handy working in the muck.
Douglas a piece of a big mat sure would come in handy! Sure would be a monster to cut through that mud, dirt, gravel impregnated 12” thick wet oak. I will put that on my list of things to investigate. One of the mats is actually not very rotten and might be a candidate.
Thank you Billy! As far as I can tell, no takers. Two strikes against me, we have lots of dead standing trees for the animals to make houses in. And we have Barred owls which do not play well with the smaller Barn owls. But someday something will move in and it will be fun to watch.
@@barrylukebuilds7894 Slow and steady, been recovering from an accident that occured in the beginning of this year. In a few weeks I have a work holiday planned, with the ambition to get the engine hoisted in. I'm not sure if I have the capacity to document much besides pictures. Take care!
Hi, it's *cherished Art* to see & use collection of various Clamps through years. Your Door kept growing in Beauty during its build, hope it still fits. : } Next life i'd like to Learn [any] skill using wood. what meant when noting, 'wood from foundry'? if Reclaimed from older Homes ... w0w, that's dreamy, I'm Jealous. *Sending Any usable Wood to dump should be outlawed.* Years ago, owner said get what wanted from house next door, [1+ day demolished] but i lacked storage for Huge Floor 'Joists', etc, No One else around here to call. Retrieved some Wall Wood, Doors, most double hung Windows w\ weights & Frames. What placed along fence was Gone, [dump] so was house, when returned from work; One day is Never enough time. {{sigh}} *Cheers!*loor beams
Karen Thank you for the nice comment! And yes the door is fine, 99 years to go to meet my prediction. The foundry is what we call our metal working shop, don’t recall exactly what that comment was referring too. I agree, reclaimed is the best but it is labor intensive and a investment in storage space. Thanks again Barry
I DESPISE working on quad engines. I had dirt bikes growing up, we would replace our piston and rings regularly. But on a quad....... drove it like i stole it and rode her till she blew!
@@barrylukebuilds7894 I got rid of my "free" one too. Still ran great. Just didn't want to have to take the plastics off EVERYTIME I needed to do anything on it. Got me a golf cart instead. Ya know easier things on the body as we get older. My bride won't let me consider a dirt bike any more. Says my my old nickname the crash dummy was there for a reason.
The foot issue was life changing. February 1, standing in my driveway by my truck doing pretty much nothing my right leg went nuts. Managed to get the the bed were I cried for about 34 hours straight until the ambulance brought me to the hospital. After that it was a long slow painful recovery. Now 5 months later my foot is not right but so much better. I am off all drugs, can jog a little and if I am busy pretty much don’t notice it. But being in such a state for so long has given me a new appreciation for most everything in our lives.
I almost miss this video, was in Virginia 2 weeks ago and not watching much youtube. Barry, pat yourself on the back, you did a great job and went way beyond anything I would have done. I don't lift no tin without my gloves, glad you put yours on. I can't get more than 6 to 8 feet off the ground any more, heights do me in. Those kids are going to spend a lot of time up there I hope. Take care.
Thanks Robin! I think you are right about the kids, Ruby has already pronounced the treehouse to be her favorite place ever. Debbie has named it the Poppygon. She painted a sign and left enough room on the end to add an “e”, just encase I were to fall off the roof. That’s love right? You might have noticed that even with toe boards and a harness I still couldn’t make myself screw that bottom edge. I let the young guy do that.
Where you located at? I'm in Ponchatoula La. and my place has the exact same expansive type soil. Been fighting it for a year. When its dry you can drive an 18 wheeler on it, when it rains you sink to your knees.
Yup! The property is just outside of Osyka Ms. Once I can get an area to drain properly things improve dramatically. Any where with standing water is a problem! Good luck!
Building in nature is not without its risks. Storms, fires, high winds, not in our control. Adding electronics in a treehouse is definitely an item where a choice was made. Not sure why that would be done. Anyway, we take the risk 😊
Thanks for sharing such a cool project, the tree house looks awesome and I’m sure the family will love it for years to come. I have loved watching all your videos from the boats to the shed, at the foundry and at home, the vehicles and the property work. Whether you share lots or little more content, thanks for letting us follow your journey’s
Thank you for letting me know! Yup, lots of mixed feelings about the future but the fact that I let projects go unrecorded just makes me wonder. Again, thanks for the kind words and the future will be the future. Barry
Thank Man! They are lucky, not just because of a treehouse but all of the things in life that could have gone wrong but up until now seem to be going their way.
