Snow-white! Snow-white! O Lady clear!
O Queen beyond the Western Seas!
O light to us that wander here
Amid the world of woven trees!
Gilthoniel! O Elbereth!
Clear are thy eyes and bright thy breath,
Snow-white! Snow-white! We sing to thee
In a far land beyond the Sea.
O stars that in the Sunless Year
With shining hand by her were sown,
In windy fields now bright and clear
We see your silver blossom blown!
O Elbereth! Gilthoniel!
We still remember, we who dwell
In this far land beneath the trees,
Thy starlight on the Western Seas.
[Sindarin verse]
O Elbereth Starkindler,
from heaven gazing afar,
to thee I cry now beneath the shadow of death!
O look towards me, Everwhite!

This song takes me into the Elven world. Thank you for singing it. You can't find anyone but Tolkien reading it. But I remember a version of the song that was sung. Its so amazing. Hail Lady Varda.

@@toannguyenuc2442 A shame that no higher quality recordings of this version exist, though. But still, it’s a great cover of one of Tolkien’s best songs!

It will be remembered so long as the reign of the valar lasts, until Dagor Dagorath and beyond.

AMAZING 🤩 I'm so happy I found this, such an angelic voice 🥲 (Sindar words and translation) : A Elbereth Gilthoniel O Elbereth Starkindler, o menel palan-díriel, from heaven gazing afar, le nallon sí di'nguruthos! to thee I cry now beneath the shadow of death! A tiro nin, Fanuilos! O look towards me, Everwhite!

I think it was not you who made the lyrics, but: _A tiro nin_ would be better translated "O, watch for me". "Everwhite" is not an appropriate translation to _Fanuilos_ . This title of Elbereth (or Varda, in Quenya) would actually mean "Bright and Majestic Figure upon Uilos" - _Uilos_ , or _Amon Uilos_ , is Sindarin for _Oiolossë_ , which is another Quenya name for _Taniquetil_ , also known as the Holy Mountain, on which summit the mansions of Manwë and Varda were raised. But since the translations "Bright and Majestic Figure upon Uilos" doesn't sound very good (it is too big a translation, to begin with), and since "Everwhite" is not adequate, I think _Fanuilos_ would have been better left untranslated.

Elbereth (usually called Varda) is the angelic spirit in Tolkien’s works that made the stars. If you read the Silmarillion you can find out more

The most beloved star is Eärendil, who carries the Silmaril in his ship Vingilot. Elbereth is the Power who kindled the stars.
