Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful ideas! I have 5 December birthday cards to make, & was drawing a blank! Love the versatility of these techniques! 😊❤
Oh Jennifer, I am in such awe of what you do. You truly are the QUEEN of our craft and you inspire and educate so many all over the world. Best of all, even though you are as good as you are, you have grace and humility which makes you relatable. I feel like you are a friend. I have a very (at times) stressful office job and card making is my stress release and to know that I can rely on you every time for inspiration is such a Godsend. I was asked in a training meeting at work a week or so ago "where would I like to see myself in 5 years?", my reply was "Jennifer McGuire's personal assistant. No-one in that meeting knew who I was talking about but when I told my husband what my reply was he smiled and said "yep, your dream job". Unfortunately, your are in the USA and I am in Australia but I will never say never. Until then, you will continue to inspire and I will continue to learn. Thank you for all you do ❤❤
I was in Australia in 1995! Best trip ever! I would love to live there. Still. Loved the cities and the outback as well. What really made the trip was how great the people are there. I always hope to get back someday. So, thank you for making our trip so memorable.
You’ve been one busy girl making all these wintery and Christmas cards! They are so cool. Looking forward to that snowy day to just have fun making cards with your ideas! Thanks Jennifer for your sharing your beautiful cards.
There is SO much inspiration here that I've watched 3 times already Jennifer! Just placed a BIG order w/Simon for cut & emboss folders which you displayed here & distress ink pads... hauled out my "ancient" perfect pearls as you're right they last forever and I can't wait to make these spectacular pieces of art! As always you are a Creative Mastermind! Thanks for being You!
I do alot of thrift flips and DIY projects, but have gotten into mixed media lately. I have learned alot of cool techniques from your channel. Thank you for all the inspiration and tips!
I never miss your inking techniques, especially the ones you make with Distress Ink since they are the ones I have the most. (no oxide) Beautiful cards! Thank you!
OMG, Jennifer! You outdid yourself with these techniques. I'm so happy to use my (very old) Perfect Pearls that have been in a drawer and forgotten for ages. Thanks for sharing your genius with us once again!
I love this technique.....such beautiful results!!! I've had my Perfect Pearls for at least 10 year too. I have everything I need to do this technique and am now eager to make some cards 😊 Hugs....Janie
Not on topic Jennifer...Remember that Accent Opaque Digital Paper you recommended for Layers and what not? It's no longer available and I was wondering if you had found a similar replacement. TIA
I have the cheap hairspray, as well as the workable fixative by Krylon (it doesn’t yellow, like some of the other workable fixative brands). However, I am wondering if there is anything I can mix into my tons (probably 50 little jars), of pigment powders, to make it stick, like Perfect Pearls, without needing to spray? Does anyone know what’s in Perfect Pearls that makes it stick? I have some gum Arabic powder, and was wondering if I mixed that with my pigment powders, if it would make it stick? Sometimes (like right now, with the wind gusting & chilly), I just don’t want to go outside to spray, and I won’t do it in the house, and don’t even want to spray it in the garage. Thanks!
This is so gorgeous! I really love what you made! But I am so sad due to demand budget… One day until I have some $$. Hope the products all year round. Again gorgeous!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏼😊
Thanks for a fabulous video reminding us of the many techniques for us to try and many options to create. You work so hard Jennifer so thank you for doing so.
This is a technique of yours that I keep going back to. It always looks beautiful. Thanks for the reminder. Also, I just love hearing you say Perfect Pearls Pigment Powder. Try Pink Perfect Pearls Pigment Powder next. 🤣
Wonderful cards as always. You never disappoint. I would love to see more vellum used in cards. I think vellum gives an ethereal look to cards. Thank you for giving us wonderful ideas. Great job my dear.
Thank you for some great inexpensive card ideas. I struggle to use my embossing folders and I have just bought my first tub of perfect pearls. I will definitely try this. Xx

Jennifer, I wish you would show cards from those last ones you you didn't have time for. They looked so pretty. Could you put ink on the Simon Hurley foam for the middle to stamp color, add the perfect pearls & then emboss it? Just wondering. Awesome cards.
I loved this idea! I was wondering why the back needs to have a spritz of water. Could you please refresh my memory of why this step is important? Thank you!
I noticed you did not dry the ink. I think I might have made that mistake, so glad I saw your video. Thank you for all your teaching ideas. My cards look nothing like yours, but I still appreciate your time, energy, and creativity. Masking tape is made for paint and could tear the paper...just saying. But these low tack tapes from so many of the craft companies are perfect!
So, couldn't you use the die first and then the embossing folder? Then you'd only have to emboss it once and avoid the problem of the paper moving, which I have had happen.
Wow! I really like this one. I've taken so many notes, I'll have to get a new notebook. Can't wait till my "stuff" gets here, so I can decide which to do first. Thank you for what you do.
I remember this technique from a long time ago but it’s still a goodie:) all of your cards are stunning but my goodness that tree landscape was a must have:) tfs stay safe and God Bless:)
Gorgeous! I don’t have any Perfect Pearls, but I have lots of other pigment powders, but they don’t have the built-in product that keeps them from rubbing off. So, I usually have to spray with a cheap hairspray, to keep them from rubbing off. Do you have any other ideas for keeping pigment powders from rubbing off? Love your techniques & cards!
I linked to a spray in my blog post though I didn't use it on my cards today. If that one is unavailable there is. Krylon clear matte spray that would work also.
Any big box craft store will have a number of clear sprays that will keep mica powder from coming off. Fine art section has fixative spray. Spray paint section has multiple clear top layer sprays. Glue section usually has a couple too. Modge Podge has three different clear coat sprays-- matte, glossy, and satin. But depending on what you are doing various acrylic mediums keep mica from blooming. If you are making relatively flat paper projects, you can roll out acrylic medium on a gel plate, and cover your entire piece at once. Of course acrylic mediums come in a variety of sheens and viscosities. My favorite brand of mica powder is Jacquard’s Pearl Ex. I prefer mica powders without binder because sometimes binders clash and there’s unpleasant clumping. Plus Jacquard makes big jars of mica powder in addition to the tiny tins. For holiday makes I always mix Pearl Ex with either Golden Paints’ glazing liquid or GAC 100, which is actually a sealant meant to keep a substrate from discoloring acrylic paint. GAC 100 has such a loose viscosity that it is somehow more liquidy than water. Absolutely fantastic with super fine glitters. And of course it prevents mica powders from rubbing off.
Thanks again Jennifer. Really gorgeous cards. I might be wrong but I think water is a fixative for perfect pearls. This might be why they stay put with damp ink. I think I remember it from a Tim Holtz video x
Hi Jennifer, can I use Distress Oxide inks too? I like this technique. The outcome are beautiful cards 😍 I only have a few embossing folders. Somehow I always shy away from using them. Could you use stencil for the embossing? I have loads of them
Hi Jennifer! I just love this look; thank you for sharing another fun technique!! One quick question; the gems you put on the joy card with the vellum...can you tell me what they are? I love that they blend with the vellum and don't take away from the background shimmer. Thank you!
I too have had my Perfect Pearls for a very long time. I look forward to using them more, especially with this technique. I also look forward to trying this with the Oxide Inks too. Have you done this with the Oxides? Does it look the same, better or not as good as the Distress? As always, thank you for all your wonderful ideas! 💖🇦🇺
