I have founded your channel couple days ago because RU-vid suggested me. You are doing a great job about filming and all the photography’s stuff. Hälsningar 😊
Peter I’m with you. I am on the 14 Pro Max and when they out usb in it I flipped out. I too want EVERYTHING to be one cable to charge them all. Overall I will most likely go for the 16 just because it’s that time of the year. Great insight as always and yes I want to have the ability to shoot extra b roll with it.
Good to see you Peter. What is your main income right now? I am following you channel since your channel was quite small. I have learned a lot from you. Big thank you for that. Happy to see you in your new house! All the best for your family.
As I listen to the pros argue many points, the game changer that apple could do is come out with a hardware device that is the size of the phone and the quality of a mirrorless/dslr. It might not be doable today. But maybe at some point in the future, people will look back similar to when Steve came on stage with the iphone. This is the innovation that is needed. Again, think about what pros are saying. I'm not taking my expensive gear but don't have the specs currently in the phone. You marry the two, again. Game changer.
24hrs into owning the 16 Pro Max, I can see the advantages of the new camera capture button for photography, but for video, the button totally stinks. I have tried using it with the Apple Manufactured Silicone cover, plus on the phone with no cover, and no matter how gentle I am, that clicking sound gets baked into the video file. I don't have time to edit out the first and last milliseconds of each video file, so will continue to use the onscreen button, or traditional side buttons to record and end recording.
As someone who owns both the s24 ultra and 15 pro max: the best one uses the software that you prefer. They’re both really good and genuinely in battery, performance, camera, durability some days the iPhone does better some days the Samsung does better Fanboys online will try and say that one is so much better than the other but truely that’s not the case
It's true that there isn't much difference compared to the iPhone 15, but I think it's worth waiting for the iPhone 16 Pro Max and switching. Just for the 4K at 120 frames per second, it's worth it-plus, let's not forget that all of this is in HDR, and the video quality we know from Apple is top-notch. The differences may be minimal, but they're worth it.
I gotta say, footage made by pro res is pretty decent and you can play around with it even more when you use gimbal that actually stabilises your footage and then you stabilise it in the editing system, color grade it and make it look good. It’s something to consider coz why would you spend money for big camera if you don’t make big production movies 🤷♂️
Hi Peter, first more of these video's, actually I enjoy all of them. I like the iPhone 15 Pro Max the 16 well, I Iike the sound of it but think I'll wait for the reviews to flood in.
Peter, what are your thoughts on the oversharpening/-processing crap that is just getting worse every year? I feel like my XR camera is superior to these newer ones in that sense. When do we get control over that?
Remember, It's not a dedicated camera button it's "Camera Control" 🤣... Apple will never skip a chance to rebrand something 😅 Joke aside, looking forward to getting mine!
you know what hurt me... not the fact that I've been waiting to upgrade my iPhone SE 2020, but the fact that... you said if you don't got the money don't get it.... wow, the honesty. I was going to get the 15 pro max because my carrier has AirPods Pro 2 for free and you can pay monthly.... everyone told me to wait and see what next year will have, the 16 pro will be better. I could've enjoyed the 15 pro for a whole year of weddings and travel and I even got engaged, but I waited. after waiting I'm underwhelmed with the results and will probably go with the 15 pro max... in my mind I wanted to get the 16 pro because I waited this long I might as well get the best, life is too short you only live once. then I realized that... you were right after all, I shouldn't be dreaming about buying something with money I don't have. I know it's a monthly payment but that doesn't mean to live beyond my means. you gotta be reasonable and enjoy life, and I have the iPhone 2020 and I still enjoy life :) thank you for inspiring me to be happy, much love from Vancouver Canada!
Since 3rd party apps also have access to the camera button functionality I wonder if they'll be able to also have it so the UI pops up another toggle for where your thumb would be and it could be for exposure or aperture like an actual camera. Multiple toggles were available for each finger.
Thank you Peter for telling the truth that a phone will not replace a real camera. They are getting better and better but a real camera will be superior.
I do real estate videography where i film a walkthrough of properties. The upgraded ultra wide angle 48mp camera will do away with the soft murky footage. Im definitely going upgrade.
The megapixels of the camera don’t make much difference. You can record 4k with an 8mp sensor. I ordered the 16 so no hater. It is more about the sensor size that makes things muddy.
The equivalent of iPhone 16 camera to a real camera is 6MP. With some lenses it goes down to 1.5MP and even 0.5. Just Apple marketing , add more MP that doesn’t translate to real MP details
I was waiting the KeyNote to see if I purchase the new 16 or the 15. Watched many videos. Still hesitate... Been using Samsung forever but I want some changes. And as I've used a MacBook Pro M1 for almost 3y now, I wanna move to an iPhone. I could save 200€ by taking the 15... I thought about the 16 but now that I hear you, I think the 15 is enough. Damn! I don't know ahah!
Could you make a video comparaison between this iPhone and the Sony Xperia 1VI? They are pretty similar feature wise... Both are good for videographer 👌🏾
Darn, what I want is HEVC 10 bit 422 Log that Sony cameras have. Those files would be smaller and easier to transfer than ProRes Log which sounds nice but is far too big for phone video. Although there's a big discount if you upgrade from a recent phone but I'm not sure it's worth it coming from a 14 Pro. They also need to do a bit more work on Cinema mode for those who want that fake but convincing shallow depth of field.
I see other comments saying how fast you filmed & edited this... what's your process like for identifying and adding in b-roll across your video? I know your use a NAS, but I'm unaware of your process beyond that. Do you copy things over from NAS to internal storage? Do your import it into project file directly from your NAS? Do you do a pass throughout your video and take notes/leave markers where you want something? Very curious to hear how you do things.
@@PeterLindgren1 bet, I look forward to it. If not, please throw a collection of chaotic writing my way 🙌🏻 happy to read it regardless of its level of polish
4k 120 is very interesting. I'd love to shoot everything in this mode and then have options for slow down just like 4k60. However I'm worried using footage at regular playback speed at 120 will look way too janky with too many frames. So not sure theres any point of using 4k 120 if you're not going to slow it down later, so you still have to choose between say shooting at 4k 24 for regular speed or 4k 120 with intention to slow down later. What we'd really love to see happen is cinematic video with slo mo. If they made cinematic video at 120 that would be incredible however the file sizes would be enormous.
well, I'm holding out until iPhone 17 so they will be upgrading the telephoto lens from 12mp to 48mp. :) i do like the iPhone 16 Pro but sadly, they haven't quite upgraded everything on that yet.
Are you making enough to justify the purchase of the FX30? See it this way, if you got an FX30 for free today, can you pay for the camera and the lenses 3 months from now, only using the FX30? Your answer lies there.
@@PeterLindgren1 I just checked the website and didn’t see any swag 😆. I’ll keep an eye out. I still use your Motion Vfx pack. Love it. I customize the crap out of it haha
I'm deep into this space so I don't need it but I love that you clarified all these terms we take for granted so that the non-filmmakers & non-videographers can understand too. A small but important detail if this hits a more mainstream audience, which I imagine it will
some photographers on youtube said that they didnt like that they added the 5x zoom on the pro version because now the zoom between 2x and 4.9x got worse like this. What's your call on that? have tried side by side the 15 pro and pro max on these ranges? is the max so much worse?
@@PeterLindgren1 yeap, i was mentioning that the small pro got 5x optical this year instead of 3x optical like last year, and some youtubers were saying that they prefer last year 15 pro because the photos in the range of 2-4.9 look better. So was wondering if you got to try those ranges with the 15 pro vs 15 pro max and noticed if it was much worse with the max
The phones getting more and more crahzy. I do most of my videos on my A6700, the photos are mainly from my iPhone. Because Inhabe it on hand anytime. 🤷🏼♂️
I bought a new iPhone this time because the older iPhone (12 Pro Max) had its best time. This new iPhone is just a replacement for what I had. No, the camera is not used that much for actual photo or video work but it comes with the phone. What I have seen in the presentation about the camera is pretty misleading. They say it has a 120 mm f/2.8 lens. That is impossible. That would mean that the lens opening is actually 42 mm. That is not possible. I am not completely sure what they mean with that button where you can change the F-stop. Does the lens actually has a variable aperture?
If you want to become a professional videographer or photographer and you're serious about that, get a professional camera and start learning the basics! not a phone ✌ peace out!
@@PeterLindgren1 Maybe 15P will get it too? afaik 15P will have apple intelligence, so I guess both 15P and 16P will have this fancy colour grading thingy, ;D it looks pretty epic to me. Deciding now if to go for 15P or 16P, currently rocking 12PM, but considering downsizing. 16P will have a slightly larger screen and quite better battery than 15P too. But if 15P will have AI and all the stuff which comes with it, possibly 15P is a good option. WIll wait for more in-depth reviews for 16 and then decide. Cheers and keep on rocking 😎🤙
@@DRIVECLUBistimelessPS4nah every year Apple does this they introduce new camera features that could be on older phones but make them exclusive to new phones On the 15 series it was automated portrait mode and 24mp for default photos (even tho the 15 regular has these features and uses the same processor and camera sensor as 14 pro) On 14 pro is was the ProRes video I think (I don’t remember 2 years ago but I know there was one) and on the 13 and 13 pro it was the original version of the photographic styles feature that can’t be edited after the fact, and that still exists on the 14 and 15 to this day As someone who owns both a Samsung ultra phone and an iPhone but is trying to not upgrade them every year (previously I bought both every year) this annoys me
4k120, 48mp ultra wide, better battery are the only valuable upgrades. But it's not really enough to be worth upgrading from the 15 pro to me. Until they can reach parity between all the cameras/FOVs......and maybe upgrade the sensor....I think I'll probably run with the 15 pro. I wonder if the 4k120 is actually good quality and real. And I wonder if you can actually do apple log/pro-res in it. Definitely gonna be like 500gb just for 2 minutes of footage. Hence why we desperately need a grip that has built in storage for iPhones. How has nobody made this yet?
🎬Peter ive been watchign you for about 6 years, - I look forward to you videos, cant wait to see your review of the new iPhone cinematic features. I know you were talking about the difficulties of storage but cant you just hook up to an external hd? Got a challenge for you. Make movie only using the iPhone. Shot, color graded and edited. Then tell the audience at the end that it was all done on your cellphone :P
Imagine being out filming a bit for fun with the phone and *having* to bring an external ssd to record video ;) Fortunately the black magic camera app allows for a bit more flexibility in terms of file container choice and file sizes etc.
@@PeterLindgren1 Hah! Yeah, just give it a year or two and Apple will introduce this groundbreaking new feature called «Removable Memory Cards» in their phones for film storage, called iCard, that of course only will be compatible with their own readers at full read speed ;)
Okay, we need to stop trying to prove that iphone 16 is great for producing films and taking portraits. Smartphones in general are great at capturing candid moments and that's pretty much it. Until smartphones start using 1-inch sensor with removable lenses, then nothing will change about the quality of the images.
I still feel that apple is not providing what is needed and it is not the features. It is a simple SD card slot. That would really be a game (and design change) changer. Additionally the price of flagship phones keeps on going up. You can buy a pretty darn good camera and lens :)
Yeah, the downside with SD cards though is that there's different readY/write speeds that you need to take in to account. It's easier to just plug in an SSD when shooting video
I have just purchased my first drone. I have now maxed out of cash, LOL.😂😂😂 I took the risk that my iP15 would be fine for another year; we will see HHHHMMMmmmm 4k 120 HHHHMmmmmm 😆
They keep making all these new iPhones and most humans couldn't. Use an iPhone 6 to its full potential still. It's too much phone and camera for most anyone.
I really dont look at your RU-vid name before clicking on your videos, I only look at your profile and like ohh its Peter, but now, I have to look at the RU-vid channel's name
The phone is good but having a good action camera is better to have as a backup camera.but an iphone requires a good gimbal or hand rest. to be practical. If you buy it in an EU country, it lacks Al functions. Consider it not worth it
Hello Mr Peter am called Patrick and a urge fan of you. I opened my rech channel because of the passion i have to tech device but specially because of your story about your success on RU-vid. However since 2018 that i opened my Channel, i shoot & edit withmy device. Haven been able to afford a full frame camera. If you are ready to sell your iphone 15 pro out for a cheaper price, please am interested 🙏🙏🙏
@@PeterLindgren1 or i think u r shifting to Davinci Resolve and over whelmed with its color page, lol, keep up the good work, I predicted ur success when u started and here u r, feeling happy for u
I can't wait for the video on what you hate about the iPhone 16 pro. Typical youtube reviewer process. It's a camera for God's sake. There isn't a comparison, there just isn't. The best camera for whatever situation is the camera you have with you at that time.
Why the negativity? I'm honestly excited about the phones capabilities. You'll always find something you don't like in a product when you use it on a daily basis.
Haha what? My dude, i'm literally stating in the video that the sensors are as small as my pinky. With that said though, the camera in an iphone (and any smartphone) are more than good. They're great actually. but my focus lies on the FEATURES. I own enough cameras to know what's good an what not.
@@PeterLindgren1 The sensors in the new 16 Pro Max are the same since the 14 Pro Max, sans the ultra wide. You can't use "FEATURES" as a tangible reason when you're using 3rd party software and hardware to augment the "experience". Mind you, I never said you don't know about cameras, I just said it's sad that you think that the new iPhone 16 Pro Max is any better than the last 2 year models, let alone compared to what's out there, which outclasses it by mile long.
What’s your point? The sensors of the A7SIII is still in newer cameras AND improved use ability with firmware updates. It’s the same thing here really. The iPhone will never replace my mirrorless, but it will be a substitute when I need one. Feels like you’re just being negative 🤷🏻
@@PeterLindgren1 You're right, they are used in different camera shells with different hardware to differentiate them. You can't tell me the A series is the same as the FX line from Sony. Do they use similar or the same sensors? Yes. Are they identical to each other? No. There are ACTUAL hardware differences between them. The only difference between the 14 and the 16 is planned software obsolescence. You can say the ISP in the 16 is marginally better than the 14, but then again, if you're shooting with 3rd party software/hardware and doing grading in post, the ISP stops being relevant. You can't claim laptop grade processing power on the 14 Pro Max SoC and then 2 years later tell me it's a paperweight that can't handle 4K120 video from the main sensor, especially when we've had phones that can shoot 4K120 for years now. I'm not questioning your knowledge of what a camera is, nor your ability to use one, that's clearly established. What I question is the borderline AD spot (Which by FTC guidelines should be disclosed) for Apple on a product that's so iterative, they could've skipped it altogether.
I never said the entire A series was the same though. Of course there are differences, that's the whole point of having different lineups. It's also why the iPhone PRO is different from the "regular iphone". In my opinion i'm actually kinda satisfied when they don't release another "better" camera every year and instead keep improving on it until it's mature to move on. GoPro for example, did the wrong thing by switching the battery type without any sort of improvement to their sensor/camera since the GP 11. Again, i'm not looking to REPLACE my mirrorless, i'm looking to forward to finally have a substitute in my pocket.
4k 120, 3 sensors/lenses, ProRes Log, yeah buddy, it’s not just a camera, it’s a professional camera. There are tons of “actual cameras” out there without those features.
@@PeterLindgren1 I am into smart tech and not dumb follower of apple iPhone clowns. iPhone Is the most overrated device with shitty camera system. Get your hands on Xiaomi 14 ultra and we will talk after that .
