I relate. It's taxing to form an online community. When it becomes work, it stops being fun. Keep a close knit circle and your days will be happy. When you expand and know more people is when it starts to get unpleasant.
Absolutely. And that's really my goal, just game with a few like minded individuals. You're right, even in the example of guilds or gaming sub groups it can be really strenuous trying to maintain things. Not that my discord server was something that required serious management but after awhile I couldn't help but ask, what am I doing?
Glad to hear you are feeling better. At the end of the day, you have to take care of you. Your physical health, your mental health, all of it. If you need to step away from certain things/people for your own wellbeing, shame on anyone who would chastise you for doing it. Discord can be quite crazy at times too. As someone who is on 61 servers, I don't spend much time on most of them, simply because there isn't time enough in the day to do so. That doesn't mean that I don't want to support folks and interact when I can.
Right. In theory, I want to be supportive of everyone out there but like you say there isn't enough time in the day, and we have to prioritize ourselves when it comes to health, well being, etc. It's just a matter of figuring out what works for us at any given time. Discord can get crazy if you don't compartmentalize some stuff, you know, disabling notifications and what not. Anyways, thank you for the feedback, Draco. I'm grateful. Talk to you soon, buddy.
I know you do, lol. There's no right or wrong way to it and while the vast majority endeavor to grow their channel there are folks like you and me that just kinda do our thing. If we were small business owners they'd probably ask how our shops stay afloat, lol. Anyways, thanks Tru.
First, you look much better Hooray on quitting smoking, I hope it sticks. I know for many it's one of the toughest fights of their lives. I appreciate your motives and I whole heartedly agree that if you're being stressed by something that was supposed to be a happy thing, let it go. I'm glad that you'll still be around and I hope that not having the server will provide the relief you deserve. I'll look forward to sailing with you again because as you know, you're always welcome on my ship. thanks for the heads up on the video, YT wasn't going to tell me about it but I knew to look for it.
Me too, Rob. I sincerely hope I can stick to it. With pneumonia, I truly could not smoke. Then after three weeks I'm like, well, I've never gone this long without so this might be my best opportunity. I'll reach out soon, via discord, to keep lines open with you. I'm grateful for the open invitation as well, the sentiment is much appreciated. RU-vid does have a knack for not telling folks about content they're subscribed to, lol. Kinda crazy but that seems to be the way of things. Hope you have a good sail today. Talk to you soon.
I knew I should've used stronger deodorant. In all seriousness, thank you for the fun times. I had a hoot sailing with you. I'm happy to see that you're doing good things for yourself. Congrats on giving up smoking and cutting back on the caffeine. Take care!
Lol Groucho! Hope you're well, and yes It was always my pleasure having you aboard. Thanks for the sentiment of support regarding smoking and caffeine. So far so good but the real test will be the bar, what with my chain smoking friends. That'll be the boss fight but if I can pull that off I'm home free!
Aw, Dawn. I appreciate that. Yeah, pneumonia sucks for sure! I'm grateful to be coming out of it. And not smoking anymore is a decent outcome. I hope you're doing good, btw. Always glad to see your name.
You had me at hello. You're my Boy Blue! I am glad you still have your account, and totally understand the desire to not have a server. I still have mine, but it is about as dead as any of them could be. I look at it pretty much the same as you do. It is just a way to connect with specific people and the community at large. Anyway, I hope to see you around sometime. Take care buddy.
Lol, thanks Gary. Yeah, I hope to see you sometime as well. Always, always considered you good people as they say. I'll likely hit you up on discord soon, and yeah that's the truth: just a way to communicate with a handful of people. The last thing Id want is to act as a community manager or something like that. And though my community wasn't that large, I got more direct messages from folks I didn't know than folks that I actually gamed with. Digging the channel logo btw.
Thank you, Alhoon. Me too. Meanwhile I noticed that you took a week off due to other concerns. I hope that things get back to normal for you soon. I appreciate you, man.
I appreciate that, Slacker. Hope you're doing well, btw man. Stuff can be tricky to navigate and sometimes it's easy to overthink matters, but your take on the matter demonstrates solid logic. Thanks.
That's what I hear. It's a hard thing to shake and once you get it there's a decent chance that you'll get it again. I can only hope that the lifestyle changes will help. We'll see. These are uncharted waters for me. Thanks for popping in by the way. I appreciate it and hope you're well.
