Zillenials: steady skipping past Osborne in the 🎶We Are The World🎶 video - not knowing Osborne is an icon and living legend (in 2 genres). Soooo cold. Osborne: on that GeorgeBenson-level. 🔥
Another fun fact about Jeffery Osborne. He lives in Beverly Hills and a court side Lakers Fan for decades. During the 80’s when the Lakers won those Championships. If Lakers needed a win, Jeffery was asked to sing the National Anthem for that game. During one of those championships playoff runs he sang it like 4 or 5x to get that championship
@@kimberlyviolaraysor1008I tell you what what answer young. When I was young kid? I listened to old motel o'dye and Ross songs. Awesome and Michael Jackson as a young kid. What Michael was done when he was a kid? Maybe tomorrow stuff like that ah that's good stuff
George Benson also had a huge hit with this song. His version was more jazz oriented. More from LTD, "Kicking Back", "Holding On", "Back in Love Again", "Where did we go wrong".
You have the mother load with this one. This is definitely a top 10 Love Song of all time. Jeffery Osborne still tours today as a solo artist. Definitely Baby Making Music
L.T.D. (Love, Togetherness, Devotion) were an AMAZING group and this is my favorite song by them. My parents had L.T.D. albums so I grew up listening to their music. They had a lot of other great songs: "We Both Deserve Each Other's Love", "Let's All Live And Give Together", "Stranger", "Don't Stop Loving Me Now", "You Must Have Known I Needed Love", "You Fooled Me", "Holding On (When Love Is Gone)", "Concentrate On You", and "(Every Time I Turn Around) Back In Love Again:. They had great ballads like this song and they could be super funky. The lead singer, Jeffrey Osborne, had a lot of great solo hits as well (I think you've reacted to one of them already).
Jay and Amber, you two would have loved the '70s there seemed to be so much more love around then than there is today. Men used to sing songs to women not at them. Other tracks to check out by them are: "Back In Love Again", and "Holding On", these were their biggest hits.
That's a picture of the Stylistics and not LTD. This song was a r&b classic and if you want some funk by them you have to react to "Back in Love Again" (The live version from Soul Train)
I hope you'll give a listen to a band called The Friends of Distinction and the song is "Grazing In the Grass". It's one of those songs that people think they've never heard it, but when they hear it, they remember it. :) Thanks for all you do. Sending good vibes!
You got me going in Circles was my favorite by The Friends. They had been california college kids and could sing those minor chords like the 5th Dimensions i.e, One Less Bell to Answer. California soul.
Amber you made me realize. The music back in the day really did influence how we treated one another. In my youth music was a big part of our lives. The lyrics and mood it set. If you had a bad day or you had a disagreement with your love. Music really made things better. Every song you play brings back memories and what my life growing up was all about. Music from my youth made me who I am now. The music from this time really influences a generation. I`m sadden what todays people hear in music. It`s not all bad but come on, music from the 60`s through the 80`s was so special. We need to bring this back so todays youths can enjoy. Am I wrong?
I absolutely this song, Love Ballad- 1976! Jeffrey Osborne is the lead singer and his voice is amazing! For a fast pace from LTD try their hit, “Back in Love Again”! He also had a hugely successful solo career in the eighties! Check out his hits “On The Wings of Love” and “You Should Be Mine”!❤❤
Every black woman of a certain age knows this song and Norman Conners "You Are My Starship". Better, every black man of a certain age has sung both of these songs to their wife or girlfriend. Try the great Jeffery Osborne, the singer here doing his big hits "On The Wings Of Love", "You Should Be Mine", and "Back In Love Again".
More suggestions for r&b: The spinners - it’s a shame (Jay will appreciate the falsetto); The o’jays - for the love of money, I love music, backstabbers, stairway to heaven; Stylistics - people make the world go round, break up to make up, you are everything, i’m stone in love with you; Chi-lites - oh girl, (for god’s sake) give more power to the people; Dramatics - whatcha see is whatcha get; switch - there'll never be, I call your name; George benson - on broadway, this masquerade, the greatest love of all, love all the hurt away, turn your love around, breezin’
Love Ballad is my favorite song by L.T.D., "Concentrate on You" is the next you guys should try, then ""Where Did We Go Wrong", "Shine On", "Lovers Everywhere" and the list goes on...
The lead singer is Jeffrey Osborne, who you guys reacted to a couple years ago. You did Stay With Me Tonight, but he's got several other solo hits from the 80s. One of my other favorites from his LTD days, is the funky "Back in Love Again". Most of his solo stuff is a bit slower, but it shows off one of the best voices in soul/RnB.
You definitely want to make "Back in Love Again" your next LTD tune! It's a great contrast to this song -- "Love Ballad" is such a swoony romantic number, while "Back in Love Again" is upbeat funky dance floor music. It was their biggest hit, almost reaching #1, and I'm betting you'll love it.
FINALLY! So much good music from this band! "Togetherness" is an amazing album; just about every track on that is a gem! Jeffery Osborne, the lead singer, had a brief solo career in the 80s, too. You should check out "Soweto" for some political commentary (of the era).
The lead singer, Jeffrey Oborne, also had a big hit in the 80s that I've always liked called "Stay With Me Tonight." Very distinctive sound to the song, and his voice ... worth checking out.
"Love Ballad" was the slow jam you had to put on repeat when sexy time came around back in the day, and Jeffrey Osborne's voice is silky smooth. So, the next one should be "Back In Love Again", it's their funkiest and grooviest song. Jordan will love it
Here's some more R&B oldies: Smokey Robinson - Quiet Storm / O'Bryan - You And I / Gap Band - Yearning For Your Love / Lakeside - I Want To Hold Your Hand / Jermaine Jackson - You Like Me, Don't You / Cameo - We're Goin' Out Tonight / Millie Jackson - My Man's A Sweet Man / Johnny "Guitar" Watson - A Real Mother For Ya / Johnnie Taylor - Cheaper To Keep Her / Roberta Flack - Feel Like Makin' Love / Joe Simon - It Be's That Way Sometimes
Oh not the LTD! Let me fix a drink first before I listen to this gem. Make sure you all add Lenny Williams 'I Love You' to that queue! As far as other LTD cuts "Where Did We Go Wrong" and "Holding On" are both great songs.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO smoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth.....LOVE IT!!! Also loved George Benson's version....just a GREAT TUNE!!
Wow! Smooth & Beautiful Voice for a Smooth & Beautiful Song. Really Nice... don't recall the group, but I Like It (even though it's 'mushy')!! The second singer chiming in is a Terrific Accent Too! Great Choice, You Guys!! :) PS J- Blushing is a Sincere Form of Flattery!
Great band, nice reaction! Some more of their songs that deserve a reaction: Age Of The Showdown 1977, (Every Time I Turn Around) Back In Love Again 1977, Love Is What You Need 1980, Shine On 1980, Kickin' Back 1983. Another nice band to check out and react on is Pleasure. some great songs are: Glide, Foxy Lady (1978), Departure/Future Now, Strong Love, The Real Thing, Now You Choose Me, Give It Up
Next by L.T.D. would be "(Every Time I Turn Around) Back In Love Again". There are many Soft & Slow jams that you have not reacted to yet. Earth, Wind & Fire : "That's the Way of The World", "After the Love Has Gone" Kool & The Gang: "Too Hot" Commodores: "Three Times a Lady" and "Sweet Love" Norman Connors: "You Are My Starship" The Delfonics: "La-La Means I Love You" Jeffrey Osborne solos: "On The Wings of Love", "You Should Be Mine (The Woo Woo Song)", "The Borderlines" and "I Really Don't Need No Light" Con Funk Shun: "Love's Train" These are just some of so many for you.
Please please please add The Main Ingredient to your list of new artists to react to. I'd start with either Just Don't Want To Be Lonely or Everybody Plays The Fool.
Love, love, love this song from back in the day "Back in Love Again" is another great one from LTD that I think you would enjoy. As usual, great reaction guys!💕
Amber, I agree about the types of love songs/lyrics from back then making a difference in a positive way. It always bothers me when some people listen to songs that contain no romance, are full of explicit lyrics about what a couple does, and they think these songs are about love. I was raised on knowing what romantic music is, what romance means, what true love means, and what respect means. I'm so thankful for that.❤
I love this song. Lead singer, of this group, Jeffrey Osborne, has such a great voice. He had a great solo career as well. There is a great version by George Benson. He sped up the tempo a bit, and he also scats with his jazz guitar. Great version as well.
Holding’ On next please you won’t regret it. And you just opened the rabbit hole to lead singer Jeffrey Osborne’s solo career. This is the music of my teenage years when guys weren’t afraid to be romantic with their ladies - slow jams like Love Ballad is a perfect example where a man expresses his deep love for his woman. That type of romanticism through music has been lost through the past few decades.
Hi Jay, I know you said you were raised on Hip-Hop... the famous rap group, De La Soul, sampled this song for their single, "Much More" off their 2004 'The Grind Date' album. You should check it out in your spare time to listen to how they used the sample. :)
This was THE song that would get every guy looking for the girl he's been watching all night. Some songs made you want to get up an boogie, this one makes you want to find that someone special and hold them close. Jeffery Osborne at his very best.
Truly one of the greatest love songs of all time! George Benson did a cool version of this song but a bit faster. Now you have to check out their song Back in Love Again for a completely different vibe
Oh yeah Jay, this is definitely that baby making music🤗 I Remember when this song came. It was just one of the many songs my wife and I would slow dance to. So much great music back then. Really enjoyed ya'll's reaction. Thanks!
the song for our first dance at our wedding in 1995. I sang the lyrics into my wife's ear. Still by my side today. :) One of the all-time great voices in R&B, Mr. Jeffrey Osbourne.
This & “We Both Deserve Each Other’s Love” are my favorites from L.T.D.! The latter is definitely getting played at my wedding when I decide to tie the knot!
