Never seen those waterbottles in Germany! Here lots of people carry glass bottles (which seems like a desaster waiting to happen to me, and I have witnessed two actually happening lol).
Don't know if anyone else commented but for water bottles, here in the US I think the most common bottle name you hear is Hydro Flask but many also have those Starbucks tumblers now too.
Yes the bottles are a Dutch thing. I remember I had so many of them when I lived there and when I travelled around and moved to Italy, I found that no one has them there, or anywhere else.
Hii happy spring!! Damn the Netherlands is sooo beautiful 😭😭 thanks for sharing another vlog, I love this casual, non-themed style of reading and hanging out 💕
The last section of this video I initially thought you were doing a review of this new book called 'The Embroidered Book' I haven't read it but it looks interesting. Anyway great vlog, enjoying the chill vibe :)
Love that! Here it really does feel amazing when we finally get 11 degrees again because honestly 4 degrees is normal from november through to march and it sUcks, I envy your 17 degrees being cold!
Virginia Woolf is a true feminist of the first wave feminism. P.S. Btw there is no direct ban of cannibalism in the Bible and in the Quran, as I know. You can find there a direct ban of the rabbit meat, but not the human flesh. Thats funny.
Always thrilled to see another Leonie VLOG. I know I'll be adding titles to my already-infinite TBR list. Currently reading "The Iron King"--my first foray into YA Fantasy in awhile, on your rec! Are bookstores fairly cheap in the Netherlands? I remember many moons ago living in London and being just amazed at how cheap it was to buy books! Have a great week, Leonie!
bell hook is one of my favorite non-fiction authors. I also started reading her in "feminism is for everybody" and I haven't stopped since. I really think you'll enjoy reading "all about love" (not sure about the English title because I'm brazilian), but it's a really amazing book. and also "teaching to transgress" is really good if you're interested in something more about education (against all forms of oppression). oh I could talk about bell hook's work forever. I really hope you enjoy :)
Such a cozy video! I have a recommendation for you regarding "the sofa" (because you don't have "the chair" 😅) - I got a very simple coat stand for my room and it's life changing. You can throw clothes on it that would normally lay around on "the chair" - you don't even need to hang them, i got one from ikea for 15 euros that I can just pile onto (secondhand options on ebay marketplace are usually even cheaper). The room looks so much neater automatically and you don't have to sacrifice seating space 😅 Greetings from Germany 🥳
This was such a wondeful and comforting reading vlog and definitely made me want to pick up a new book to read. I really like these vlogs because they are always so relaxing and make me very happy!
I read Tender is the Flesh (my favorite book of late), then watched Fresh (absolutely loved it), and now I’m dying to pick up A Certain Hunger after seeing you read it.. idk what’s going on either 🍖🤤
So excited! I love these types of videos especially bookstores they always seem so magical! Thankyou leonie ♡ Also i have just seen the water bottle and i have never seen nor had one before as a student in the UK, although it does look really cool!
Doppers are very much a thing in Germany, too. I love mine so much and when I was at uni, I would even get compliments on it which I found so random :D As always a lovely video
That water bottle looks super cool! As far as I know we don’t have them in the US, but all of the students here seem to carry around hydro flask water bottles
As an American who studied in the UK and got to visit the Netherlands while I was there: that water bottle was so iconically Dutch, my hostel was selling them! I've never seen them anywhere else, but I did end up getting one as a keepsake!
Ooh the bokksu box looks so fun! I also loved watching you and your friends speaking in the video in your native language and having English subtitles! That was just cool to see too lol
Aww, I want go bookshopping but I also need more bookshelves.... I am scared that I am now at the point that instead of people saying 'wow you have many books' they will say 'You have a problem' XD...
I feel like you live in an old classic novel or short story. All of the shots you show of the surroundings and streets are so vintage and mundane, and yet so magical in an odd way.
Your reading vlogs always brigthen my day, fun and aesthetically pleasing as well, thank you for that ^^ Also, these water bottles!! I first saw these when I lived in Paris, every other student had one, and when I saw a Van Gogh themed one I had to get it and I've loved it ever since - but never seen anyone else with these here, in Hungary. On an other note: Bastille is amazing live! Saw them at Sziget Festival a couple of years ago and it was one of the best concert experiences I had there ^^ I hope you'll have a great time as well!
That bookstore! I live in Belgium but the only English bookstore we have is Waterstones... I might need to plan a trip to Amsterdam with my unsuspecting husband. 😅 'just a fun trip for the two of us' and once we're there it's bookshopping time 😎
Per the water bottle Q you posed: in the US (or at least, on the west coast and very specifically the Pacific Northwest lol) the classic college student water bottle is a hydro flask.
Hi Leonie! I saw your the love hypothesis review and I totally agree with you. I recommend reading 'Dial A for Aunties' by Jesse Q. Sutanto. It's just so perfect. It's just like every rom-com but then there's a (accidental) murder. Believe me, it helped me out of my reading slump. Please, please, please read it...
weird unsettling book rec? earthlings by sayaka murata. 1st third is from child's perspective and difficult to read because of triggers. after that we shift to adult perspective and I loved it. every possible trigger warning in the book
Hello! Could you please reveal the name of the bookshop which has such a nice thrift section? Is it in Amsterdam? I have been to Ansterdam some years ago and have visited thrift market with book sale in it. It was so nice, such a great choice of the books in English. I wish I would visit Netherlands again for book shopping as well as visiting Netherlands Bach Society concert:)
It’s so funny how polarising Normal People is! I absolutely loved both the book, and the series for tv. Why do you suppose people dislike it so much? The almost stream of consciousness-type dialogue in first person?
To answer your question: those bottles are THE Dutch waterbottles, I moved there from Germany and never seen them before but as soon as I moved to the Netherlands every student alive owned a bottle like that. After 2 years of living here I have still not bought one, I simply can’t figure out where to buy one.
Hi ! I’m going to the Netherlands, in Amsterdam in a month, I wanted you to recommend me a book that I should get there Also if you know some good places I should visit, I’ll take any advice 😁
I’m in Australia and I have the same drink bottle! I’ve been working my way through your book recommendations. Loved Piranesi, Night Circus, Red White Royal Blue, and am currently on Uprooted. I would never have come across these books otherwise. Thank you so much!
I first found your channel through one of your reading vlogs a few years ago, and to this day it’s still my favorite type of content. These vlogs give off so much cozy and calm vibes, I just rewatch a bunch of your old ones whenever I need a serotonin boost.
Most people I know in the US have a water bottle called hydro flask AND 😂 in high school whenever someone dropped one, it'd be so loud because it's made with aluminum, we'd all yell HYRO DOWN! 😂
I love Bunny, and I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it. I too have a version of sencha. Mine is from T2, an Australian tea company, and it is called Japanese GMC Sencha, and I love it so much.
I also watched Fresh with my housemate and I loved it! We also found it quite funny at times which idk if it was intended that way or we are just a bit sick in the head hahahah 😅
17:30 I don't think it defeats the purpose because by reading/starting the book before buying it you make sure that it doesn't end up on your tbr for years and also that you don't spend your money on a book you then don't enjoy.
casual and cosy is very much appreciated, especially when you enjoy making them a lot as well :) hope you love bunny! I have added a certain hunger to my tbr list, as my favorite tv show is hannibal!
