Koh Chang is my favourite place in Thailand. Not too many tourists and they are generally not riff raff tourists. I stay around White Sands because I like the long beach to walk on and teh amount of restaurants to eat at. I also like the night market and often pick up food there and take it back to hotel room. Then I usually hire a motorbike for a couple of days. One day doing the West side and the other day doing the East side.

Wow. That beach looks fantastic. The whole place looks like somewhere to have a really chilled tropical break. The thing with Thailand is there is so much variety... and winter is better than summer!

Yes Eddie i visited there November 2019 and it was pretty quiet all the bars actually, but a lovely area to be and nice beach. Better then white sands you are right! Keep travelling. Im enjoying Câmbodia! Cheers.

Stayed there few times last time in Feb 2020 great place was jumping back then great buzz and cool vibes looks a bit worst for wear at the min hopefullywill bounceback soon 🤞. .defo get bike and drive down past ferry ⛴ port alone coast it beautiful and sunset in the rasta view bar is 👌 njoy Eddie great work 👍

I just left this area a couple of days ago.Most of it has reopened but the Farangs haven’t returned to the extent they have previously.But it’s headed in the right direction.

Yes, I stayed in Kai Bae in July 2020 for a week. Quiet villa called Filou Villa, private pool, all styles of restaurants ,7-11, Lotus Express. I was a km from the main road down a well- shaded soi. Two minutes from a small elephant refuge.

I stayed at Kae Bae for a couple of weeks just before Aunt Iris came along. I stayed at The Mae Pen Rai hotel (you walked past it at 06:19) and went to Walking Street a couple of times and in all honesty it was disappointing to say the least, most bars were closed and the few that were open only had a few customers. I really got the impression at the time that Kai Bae was in decline and that the type of visitor had changed from western farang type travellers to Russian families and Chinese tour bus types. The bars catering for western tourists were really not doing well and many weren't even opening. Remember that this was before the pandemic.

First went to Koh Chang in about 2003 and stayed in Kae Bae. There used to be a big pub there run by a guy from South London called Nick. Also, a group of bars owned by a Thai guy called "Joe" who still might be on the Island.

Hey Eddie great video of my favorite place in Thailand, Ko Chang. Eddie there are some great smaller islands very close to Ko Chang and a must see in my opinion. You can just do a day trip on a boat to Ko Wai , Ko Klum with snokelling at both of the islands and of course lunch and cold beers are served on board or venture a bit further on to Ko Mak and Ko Kood of which both have accomadation if you want to stay overnight..keep on enjoying mate and the very best to you. ps Thanks for the great videos

Edward Looks like Kho Chang was a pretty raunchy place pre Pandemic. I'd be interested in visting that island in a year's time when hopefully the dust has settled and tourists are treated like tourists again rather than lab rats. There's a guy in Patong called bugeater38 who films night life and seems welcomed by the girls working in Bangla road. Wonder how he does it. You are looking so much more relaxed than when you were in the UK.

Hi edd the weather where i am in the uk is 3 degrees with frost and mist in the morning and i have never been to that part of the island where you are but after watching your vd i do plan on going there as for a quiet beach well thats a + no overcrowding you and other you tubers do a great service showing other parts of thailand you might not think about visting so thanks for sharing and great stuff as always look forward to the next vd

We also don’t wear our face masks so much since we,ve been in koh Kood as more locals don’t wear them either here than in the bigger mainland towns. Anyway. Quiet, dead or just a little busy, EVERYWHERE sure beats being in UK right now in January. We LOVE live music venues and are gutted to read that they will continue to be outlawed for foreseeable. Not surprised you decided to extend your stay there Eddie… that beach looks great, I could easily lose a few weeks there. That’s the beauty of longer term travel, you can just decide to stay longer when you find a place that chimes with you.

My hubster and I watch your travels and appreciate your honesty. We do miss our winter Thailand hols due to the current situation but watching you and other bloggers having a nice time is good to see but I am going nowhere that mandates mask wearing in that heat! You’re a funny guy and I love your accent. Booked Pattaya for 6 weeks in January 2023 only if the authorities get their act together. Enjoy your fun Ed x

It's 76F (24C) today in South Florida, the heat & humidity of Thailand is just too oppressive for most people. I must say it appears where you are appears to be semi deserted with a lot of closed businesses, but if you're happy in that environment, well, to each his own.

I've been there in January, in a bungalow right next to the 7/11. I went to the See the Sea Bar a few times for sunset, that beach is beautiful. Kai Bae is just awesome. Cheers from Germany!

Ive stayed at Kai Bay Ed before the pandemic, it was great!! beautful beach and good night life! i wiill definetly going back there when the madness ends!!

Visited Kai Bae off season back in 2015 . Had a good vibe , busy enough. Heard you saying how hot it is atm ,as a matter of interest December is generally Thailand's coolest month😅

I was last there around 2010 .Stayed at Kai Bae Hut ,where all the boats were parked in your video.Bungalow right on the beach .Another place i stayed was La Luna on the main strip .Kai Bae seems to have expanded a lot since then from your blog .Back then it was very laid back but had a few lively bars .One German owned place was good for cheap meals /drinks and they showed a movie each night on a big screen out back .Another place Thai family owned had live music every night in their sea food restaurant .Around the area you pointed to the Eiffel tower were a few small lady bars . When i hopefully return to Thailand next January i definitely have Koh Chang on my list .....PS ,although i last visited around 2010 ,i had made several visits each year to Chang from 2003 to 2010 .I lived down the road in Jomtien /Pattaya at the time .Each year i went to the Island it seemed to be getting quieter and quieter with less Westerners ,which backs up what another person ( Wojamacolit ) commented here .

Koh Chang used to be my go-to destination back when it was nothing but backpackers and bungalows. Super quiet back then.

While you are there go to Koh mak it is stunning and quiet.Especially know well worth a visit if you have not been before.You can walk around the island on the beach in about an hour.

BEACH : How many of us have taken day trips to a beach to find it very crowded, loud music, expensive to rent sun loungers etc. Here is a paradise beach with only a couple of people on it, quiet and chilled out. Perfect. Giving me ideas of where to go next January Eddie. You made a good decision to extend your stay. Your hotel room looks perfect too !

Hello, I first visited koh Chang about 20 years ago.. We stayed at lonely beach..and it was..only a couple of bars and bamboo huts which are now derelict..then I've also stayed in Kae Bai ...which is was great the first time I stayed , then we stayed at porn huts along the beach from where you are staying..since then the place has become a bit of a mess..full of Russians and backpackers.. anyway I don't visit it anymore as it's gone downhill imho ..maybe during the pandemic it might be ok ... anyway enjoy.

This looked like one big building site Eddie Take a wander down to the White Sands area for us - it's supposed to be the best part of the island

That walking street areas reminds of little places like Nong Khai, up north in Thailand , where you find little streets with great bars. Some of the best places are hidden away and where you'll have many a great night.

The beach was the real highlight,the rest of the place looked like a building site and in need of sprucing up.Have been to Koh Chang but not to Kai Bae but maybe will 1 day IF the Thai Gov ever lift the restrictions.Cheers
