This was right in time for me with a massive setback of vertigo. The stories of I’m never going get better, I’ll never feel normal again, what happens if I can’t drive ever again… omfg honestly. Catching my thoughts before they go down the rabbit hole has been key as well as seeing that this is temporary - more balanced thinking. Gee it’s hard though. Thanks for another great video

Hi there, if you have had medical tests done and there's no physical reason or treatment to be had, Persistent Postural perceptual Dizziness could be your problem maybe (PPPD). I am not a doctor but I suffer from this and get it under far better control with vestibular exercises. physiotherapists can help and there are a lot of physiotherapy channels on UTube that talk about this too.

I have just discovered your channel and your videos are medicine for me. I’m into my 3rd year of chronic pelvic pain but now only get flare ups when my mind goes down a certain path. Thanks so much, so helpful.

Your point about lowering the stakes feels quite important to me. We build up the stories of our situations so high that every little thing to do with it feels make or break. A good reminder, thanks

Great pointers and succinctly delivered. Thank you! Making it safe to be with whatever arises is hard but very helpful. It can also be good to simply distract yourself with something, as you said near the end.

How do you lower the stakes if it is a serious medical concern where your body may not be ok?

I'm so sorry to hear what you are dealing with. When this is the case it is going for more balanced thoughts regarding the condition.

Ok I will try that. Thank you! I really have been enjoying your videos especially the letting go of control and learning how to sit with your emotions.

all great advice thanks, although for shifting attention to the body any advice when its actually the body sensations that trigger fearful thoughts? Maybe soothing breathing or another somatic replacement I s'pose
@painpsychotherapy
@painpsychotherapy 10 месяцев назад
Yes it can be helpful to shift to a pleasant or neutral sensation at first before we have more capacity to attend to unpleasant sensations. Keep going!

I have TMS and presently in immense discomfort, so your words make a lot of sense. I recognize that my brain is fearful and is perceiving danger - hence the pain sensations. I am implementing teaching my brain that all is well and know that with consistency it will get the message.

Feeling safe from fear of life situations is important, as well as from fear of the pain.
