Lisa, this was so nice! I have missed your vlogs. I'm glad you are finishing your Hap. I made one several years ago and loved the knitting so much. I keep thinking about making another. Your bunny story was extra funny for me. I had a couple of children next door who kept telling me I had dead rats in my flower bed. Their eyes were huge and they were all worked up over it. I tried to explain that I'd put the wool down as mulch around a couple of plants, but they never did believe me and always came and looked for the dead rats.
Hi Lisa, It is a rainy day here and you brightened the day with your podcast. Good to see you again. Thank you. I love your Botanic Shawl and your hand dyed yarn is stunning! Looking forward to seeing it when you are done. Blessings to you and your family. Hugs to Peaches. ❤
I was so happy to see you back online! I missed your wonderful podcasts and always love hearing about what you are knitting, spinning and the like. Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful talents with us!
Lovely to spend time with you, Lisa. Thank you, too, for mentioning the wonderful Spinning Duty and the Knits podcast. I so enjoyed it…inspirational! Your shawl is looking fabulous…I hope you get the joy of finishing it. The bunny story made me smile. Earlier in the summer I had been picking some Gotland fleece and it was quite windy… A few days later, I was in the garden and ‘something’ ‘ran’ past me and made me jump…😂😂😂 I know what you mean when you say the large amount of fleeces can be a burden… it kind of paralyzes me, at times🥴. Thank you for taking the time to produce this lovely video🥰
Hi Lisa! Great to see you again. I love your podcast. You're not alone in skipping Stephen West's MKAL 2024. Last year's Geogradient drama was off-putting. More than that, though, I've come to respect my disenchantment with mystery knits. It's nice to know what something is going to look like before starting it. 😂
Lovely to watch you Lisa. Realised hiw much I have missed.. you made me smile.. as I can relate to finding things from years past… lots of quilting things I still am finding.. looking forward to your next one already .. lol❤😂😂
So pleased to see your newest post, i totally enjoy your myriad crafts and your sweaterMabel is gorgeous. the hats and mitts for your co worker friend are amazing im sure they will be appreciated. thank you for the lovely video.
So happy to see your podcast up. So wonderful, indeed, in these times of struggle to have such an uplifting and beautiful visit. As always your projects are inspiring. Peace and blessings.
I so relate to your long term WIPS, Lisa. But I content myself with the thought that it's all knitting, so there's no rush to finish and just enjoy the process.
Hi Lisa, so nice to see you. You are an inspiration to me in trying to finish projects. Remember, to err is human and in this age of AI we need to embrace our mistakes as our human signature! Peace and hugs to you.
Great podcast! You are so right about knitters and spinners loving planners and stationery and pens (oh my;). Love your WiPs and your Hobonichi haul:)!! So glad that was just a piece of fleece!!! Craft on:)!!
Wonderful to see via RU-vid wonderland! I love the vintage knitting pattern, so lovely! Today, I’m enjoying the 1st day of fall like weather; and trying to catch up on the Stephen West MKAL…go Team Snail!! ❤ Love seeing all your projects! Sending you my best!
I have missed you ❤ What a welcome thing to see you here! I tell people all the time - sheep are growing more wool even as we speak 😂 Handspun, handknit socks 🎉
I'm so pleased you included so spindle spinning at the end ... Accompanied by beautiful piano music ❤️ I'm just about to try my hands at drop spindle spinning ... As in tonight lol ... Loved watching how you do it & take it off & do a ball of yarn, etc ❤ Susannah
a truly delightful podcast. You kept me company while I spun my own homegrown chocolate brown border Leicester. I’ll be plying it with itself into a fingering weight but have no project in mind at the moment. Maybe a cardigan. Thankyou so much.
So great hearing from you again! I look forward to seeing your next video. I too have more than I can work up in the near future. But it is all so “loverly. . .”
Hi Lisa, how lovely to see you again. I can relate to the pressure of lots of wips. This year I have tried to keep them under control, mostly managed by creating items for other people for special dates such as birthdays! However, having vowed to not buy more yarn or Fibre to reduce my stash, somehow it mysteriously keeps growing! Love and best wishes to you
Dear Lisa, Yes, I do watch your podcast😊 I am a huge fan and have learned so much from you. Thank you for your kind words, and I must confess mentioning me was a very pleasant surprise( used my personal youtube account and until i dont switch cant see the tags, or notifications) so had no idea and was watching your podcast as I always do and just suddenly, you mentioned me. 😊 P.s. Your Botanic Shawl is beautiful ❤
Hi Lisa! I am knitting a sleeve on a Mabel cardigan as I watch this! Seeing yours makes me really excited to finish mine. And this feels serendipitous! ❤
Hi Lisa😊, so good to see you! To keep my feet on the ground, the last six weeks i knitted a large garter wrap as test knit, now halloween socks for my 16year old god son. Speaking of stash that lasts a life time, mkals etc...i also managed not to do the mkal. And this weekend the bavarian Rhinebeck happened, only 30 min train ride...i resisted to go and...sat down with Katies spinning excercises and cast on the spooky socks. Your Botanic is VERY lovely, i made one last year with latvian dundaga color changing rustic wool and it is very squishy and lovely. Yours looks like it will be even more cosy...❤🎉 have a lovely autumn.
Very happy to see you again Lisa! I am also going strong on the morning pages, and thank you for starting that process, even though we didn’t get further in the book. Maybe we found the most important part!
Just love seeing you and all the things. I also felt I should have made a size larger on my Mabel. But I loved knitting it. You are such an inspiration. Thank you.
It's great to see you again. I'm actually taking a Suffolk fleece (that was given to me) to our weavers' guild meeting to give away. I want you to know that you inspired me to try the breed study and I really learned a lot. So thanks for your inspiration.
G’day Lisa, What a lovely way to start a Sunday….I understand your “ too many fleeces” as I have just spread out a recently acquired Finn fleece…oh bliss..long staple, softly greasy and varying shades of brown…now I’m hand carding into rolags to spin in the grease.I am quite blessed to have access to some wonderful fleeces and it’s hard to say no… Merino, Border and English Leicester, Corriedale,Polwarth, Cheviot and Valais Blacknose as well as Alpaca…each fleece is different and requires different processing but I think of each sheep as I handle their wonderful fleeces.I have just finished reading “ A short history of the world according to sheep” by Sally Coulthard…a wonderful little book which make one appreciate how important sheep have been and still are to the economy of many countries…. A bit long winded but I love wool❤❤
Hello Lisa, I love Natasja Hornby patterns, Mare and Lunae are on my list after just finished knitting Yara. Her patterns are so well written and easy to follow, it takes all the stress out and allows to enjoy the ride, and a stunning shawl around your shoulders after a while 💙
Nice to see you back. Thank you for talking about the new podcast you have found, I am now watching. I am always on the look out for spinning and weaving content. I don't mind watching knitting only podcasts but I really enjoy when channels who chat about more than just knitting alone. OOOh I love using fountain pens and dip pens too. I even have a glass dip pen, though sadly it fell off the unit it was displayed on and the handle broke. It is still usable but of course is just not the same any more :( T x
Very happy to see your latest episode, hope you enjoyed your summer. Steven West MKAL 2024 is intriguing but I also dislike cutting yarn. I’m crocheting hats for a Christmas fair and had to frog back because I didn’t size up a hook and now have cut yarn pieces. 😂 I have 3 fleeces literally, 3 bags full and need to finish processing them, I keep using them for stuffing my cats, chickens and bunny stuffies. I look forward to seeing more of your episodes. 😊
I enjoyed your show and share. And I laugh at myself as I have 8 wips all around the chair I’m sitting in. Great minds, what can I say. Have a great week.
I have always sat on the sidelines of Stephan's shawl KALs.... until Amy posted this year😊. I got sucked in, but I have a feeling I will be finishing in time for next year's KAL😂. I am on a shawl kick for the first time in my life. I have 30 years of handspun (love spinning, knitting, not so much🤫). But, turned 60 and all of a sudden I just can't have enough colors, techniques, fibers cast on! And I love wrapping up in shawls! Now I need a shawl for everyday of the month and coordinating with seasons, lol. Anyways, really enjoy the spinning content!
Hi Lisa good to see you! I had just been thinking about finishing a spinning project, so I did that while watching you. And I finished, yay! I love that woven scarf. 😍 I have a rigid heddle loom and haven't woven for a loooong time. I need to get that out and have a go again. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Hi Lisa, happy to see you here again! You always make me laugh. The bunny story 😂. Isn’t it funny that we can have WIP’S on our needles for years. Yet at the same time. Knit up 2 hats and mitts in a week! I do it all the time. New cast on for a gift… I am always down for that. Loved your FO’s ❤
Hello Lisa I was so excited to see a new video from you, I was wondering how you were doing. Glad to see your doing well, your projects are amazing and inspiring as always, Thank you for sharing. (P.S. I'm not a huge fan of modular knitting patterns either. Your not alone 😉)
So happy to see a new video! Hah, the cautionary tale of getting too much fleece is a couple of months too late for me; I somehow managed to accrue 6 fleeces and 2 shearling fleeces (of varying quality and admittedly quite cheap) in my first couple months of starting my spinning hobby... I'll have a busy winter I guess!
❤I live writing letters, and journaling and fountain pens too. Oh you should have seen my grin when I heard you talk about those😊. I have been spinning on my spindles also. I think I could really enjoy processing fleeces, but I am not sure about going down another rabbit hole. 😅
Always lovely to see you on a weekend. I started the MKAL and knit obsessively for a week, finishing clue 1. I had a fabulous time, just pure play. But somehow I haven't started week 2 yet. Instead, I've been working on a couple old WIPs that I really want to done, and that work feels more joyful and playful than it has in a long time. So maybe the MKAL already did its good work on me? I have no idea if I'll return to it or not. I'm using stash yarn as well, so the only money invested was in the pattern.
Hello Soulful Soul. I am meeting you for the first time and have subscribed. I am a weaver too. To fix those skipped weft threads you might want to try to thread a darning needle in the warp yarn (one ply if possible), then go over and under for a few inches above and below. Its a little easier before washing and blocking but still doable. The gold and yellow colours are so warm and cozy, and might I say soulful?
Hello Lisa. Your lovely podcast always re-enthuses me to have do more spindle spinning . I also have rigid heddle loom that I don't use...As for ancient wips...... Thank you for the little clip of your singles spinning. I have a spindle spin on the go that I would like to use as singles: I can see that you do a bit of aggitation in the wash and contrast bathing: is this to slightly felt the yarn to make it stronger for knitting? x
i am a beginner weaver. are there books that you advise to teach all aspects of yarn? example being: wool types, carding, spinning, anything pertaining to from the ground up learning the trade of weaving? thank you for all you do.
