In the next part of the Live Prague series, we will look at a project with a long and complex history. The expressway on the Prague Kladno Airport route has been the subject of passionate discussions since the early 1990s. What does it look like today with the high-speed rail and how will it change traffic in Prague?
After years of speculation, the shape of the Prague-Airport-Kladno high-speed rail line is finally known and construction will begin in a year. As soon as the high-speed rail is in operation in 2029 Prague will finally have a comfortable connection to the airport (after all, our capital and Dublin are the last capitals where people have to travel to the airport either by bus or taxi - the high-speed rail to the airport will move us towards modern city).
Thanks to the Prague-Airport-Kladno high-speed rail, traffic in the capital will also be significantly relieved, as the current connection between the metropolis and the Kladno region is insufficient. This is despite the fact that most people travel to Prague from this direction. It can therefore be assumed that the number of cars on the streets of the city will decrease. Thanks to the high-speed rail, the inhabitants of Kladno and its surroundings can reach the centre of Prague in just 30 minutes.
You can find out more in our video about how the high-speed rail to the airport and to Kladno will delight enthusiastic cyclists or how it is related to the Prague underground or the reconstruction of Masaryk railway station.
Don't forget to let us know in the comments what you say about the construction of the high-speed rail in Prague!
There are scheduled high-speed rail stops here to find out if the track will go to you.
