@@alvanalvino You can't expect them to be gone, they will never be gone, they will always have seats in parliament. Just as long as they don't have more than 50%, the other parties will be able to hold them accountable, vote against bills etc which they don't agree with, that will keep them accountable and wanting to work for an improved SA.

😅Ashley there is peace amongst ordinary citizens of the country. The politicians are fighting amongst themselves. ANC members have been protesting against a coalition with a certain party. The ANC will never take KZN people for granted again. They forgot too quickly that they were once opposition in that province and were given a chance only because their MECs in Health and in Economic Development were actually delivering services and developing the economy of the province, unlike the do-nothing IFP. Durban was once the best run city in South Africa, run by the ANC before they started taking instructions and probably also bribes from the enemy.

You simply lack understanding of open borders. People take it in the literal sense. They have used Europe as an example numerous times. But because of lack of travel exposure people don't understand that there are still immigration protocols and procedures in place, you don't just walk into someone else's country unaccounted for, you need valid documents, and a criteria that you have to meet. ANC EFF and MK should be in coalition. We still need land and economic reforms. And it's sad that a lot of South Africans take the "open borders " in a literal sense. After using Europe as an example multiple times and people don't understand that there are still immigration protocols, procedures, and criteria requirements. You don't just walk into someone else's country unaccounted for, the borders are still there they are just not barriers. People should look into the SACU countries (South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Namibia), which involves duty-free trade in goods amongst member states, eliminating trade barriers. African unity is primarily all about that.

According to Ktangale, Malema's contradictory actions, such as advocating for driving out whites while also seeking financial support from them, contribute to the dislike many people have for him. This is an interesting insight into the complexities of South African politics and the EFF's stance on race and economics. Comparing South Africa to Kenya in 2007, when opposition parties united to oust a long-serving president, highlights the potential for change when political forces come together. In South Africa, the emergence of numerous small parties could indeed pose a challenge to the ruling African National Congress (ANC) if they were to form a coalition. However, as long as these parties continue to focus on their individual battles, the ANC may maintain its grip on power. To summarize Ktangale's perspective, the key to challenging the ANC's dominance in South Africa lies in the opposition parties setting aside their differences and forming a united front. By pooling their resources and support, they could potentially create a formidable force capable of bringing about significant political change in the country.

In addition, in terms of local government, the ANC hasn't won elections in the richest municipalities in SA since 2016 & since 2006 in Cape Town. In fact, 86 of the 257 municipalities in SA are governed through coalitions. Out of the 8 Metropolitan Municipalities, the ANC only governs 2 by small margins. The ANC has also lost control of the richest provinces (Gauteng, KZN & Western Cape), as well as the Northern Cape. Effectively, the ANC is a rural party capturing votes from senior citizens.

Refreshing voice. The negotiations may be a little rough. I do not know where I stand in terms of what I'd like to see happen. Coalition with DA should be most desirable if we are to deal with corruption. If it is possible to negotiate with the smaller parties - and leave DA out, that would probably also be desirable but not sure they can. In other words, bringing them on board. Bringing EFF on board would be a disaster. But it may be needed to deal with whatever land issues there may be. Bring MK on board? With Zuma's history, not sure it can happen. No easy answers. GNU as has been proposed last few days may be a good option. Not sure how workable though. I do not have answers.

Precisely, the ANC lost its majority precisely because it remains so hard for the majority of black SA’s who have been disillusioned by its promises made in 1994 to date. Irrespective of the anticipated coalition government’s configuration, the most politically astute SA analysts have predicted that there will not be any structural changes to the “new apartheid” as well documented by Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh and discussed on his platform.

So it is highly probable that South Africa will make obvious mistakes, and government will be unstable. Raise a hand for help . And see a year of success. Followed by uncertainty. I am a Kenyan and I do not partake in SA election, my view point as an outside. Congratulation to South Africans for performing their civic duty in what seemed to be free and fair election, Zuma crying foul notwithstanding. I have to say I prefer SA party oriented to Kenyan personality oriented and strong presidency system. It is important to look at this election in the backdrop of SA downward trend in many development indexes. At 42% unemployment rate South Africa has the highest unemployment rate in the world, according to the World Bank, outstripping Gaza and the West Bank, Djibouti and Kosovo. When it comes to youth unemployment, the rate is 61% of 15- to 24-year-olds, according to official statistics, and a staggering 71% if you again count those who are no longer trying. SA GDP grew by 2% last year and is projected to grow below 2% this year, it needs to grow at 7% to keep up with unemployment. This high unemployment rate is the ticking time bomb and the biggest informer of the second index crime rate. South Africa has the third highest crime rate and third-highest murder rate in the world. It is also the most unequal country in the world. Like Kenya and many other African countries SA is corrupt, this was perfected under Zuma regime. SA Infrastructures are crumbling, it was at one time one of the best in the world and by far in Africa. Load shedding is not the only challenge confronting SA. Decades of low-maintenance and a lack of investment have led to crumbling transport networks and water supply. The common denominate of these woes and what makes SA the most unequal country in the world is apartheid era economic architecture that is still in place. In 1994 SA brought down apartheid political architecture and left the whites-controlled economy structure in place. To put it blunt ANC, comprise on its charter and removed policies such as expropriation of land without compensation and nationalization of strategic mines sector.. ANC will continue to go down, it is the party of the past. The democratic alliance with its apartheid policy has plateaued, cannot go more than 20%. MK is a Zulu outfit with no national appeal, theirs was revengefully vote, spiting at ANC for mistreating their own Jacob Zuma, thy are not going back ANC most will find refuge in EFF. Malema is making mistake by trying to join ANC, he should woe other small part and even work with MK to form strong opposition. EFF dropped in numbers due to MK and it open border policy, but it is the party of the future. At some point SA youth will come to understand that their cannot isolate SA from rest of Africa. As matter of fact the blacks SAns with technical such as medical, mining, eurospace, security skill will find countries in other Africa. EFF is the future

Hi Ashley.. I applaud your political interests. Your right about us in the US ..very dysfunctional! Though I think SA has TOO MANY parties..LoL. They have definately taken the ideology of democracy to the next level. The SA "system" like older civilizations have been affect by the bully of the planet. American "democracy". So what's happening around the world and in SA that democracy is a "buzz word". simply put : Democracy is the foundation of corruption because in order for a "government" to get anything done it "must" aquire a lot of "agreements" that sign off to it. That means that I can buy those agreements with money or favor. Therefore the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The construct that a person's vote means freedom in misleading. I won't go through a history of SA that you alread know except to say that the ANC like the left and right of the US end up creating "followers" ..kind of like a church and their denominations. They cannot be reasoned with because of "assimilation". And the problem with THAT is that they rarely take the time to critically analyze policy or proposals. So it takes forever to get something done. Democracy is very slow and for countries that are trying to "develop" quickly to manage population growth this creates congestion which the wealthy (wherever their from) come in with fake help on one hand and intentionally create instability on the other. 30 years and you can't keep the lights on reliably? make it make sense. It's simple but complicated

You are totally off the mark with the number of political parties, like Ash put it these parties are contesting, like a contest there's a threshold to be cleared and the rest of the parties would not make the cut and will diminish into oblivion. Look at your system right now, blacks have to swallow the bitter pill is trump which would not have been the case if it was a proper contest. Now when it comes to loadshedding you won't understand the subject from where you are because as we speak it's been a while since we've had one.
