This moment reminds me of a quote by Mandela, If the ANC does to you what the apartheid government did to you, then you must do to the ANC what you did to the apartheid government.
Well the ANC is not gone is it? The people still voted for them to have a coalition right? They are not ready for change in South Africa. 8 more years maybe. They are getting there slowly.
@@alvanalvino You can't expect them to be gone, they will never be gone, they will always have seats in parliament. Just as long as they don't have more than 50%, the other parties will be able to hold them accountable, vote against bills etc which they don't agree with, that will keep them accountable and wanting to work for an improved SA.

The ANC will never take KZN people for granted again. They forgot too quickly that they were once opposition in that province and were given a chance only because their MECs in Health and in Economic Development were actually delivering services and developing the economy of the province, unlike the do-nothing IFP. Durban was once the best run city in South Africa, run by the ANC before they started taking instructions and probably also bribes from the enemy.

Eff could be on the top right now but they think everyone must just come in and out as they want as long as they're African. Thats just not right. Every country need to know how to secure they borders. The citizens of the country must be first priority. As for ANC, they are an embarrassment
You simply lack understanding of open borders. People take it in the literal sense. They have used Europe as an example numerous times. But because of lack of travel exposure people don't understand that there are still immigration protocols and procedures in place, you don't just walk into someone else's country unaccounted for, you need valid documents, and a criteria that you have to meet. What is so wrong with African unity?
I want an ANC, MK, EFF AND IFP coalition because past injustices havent been dealt with. DA should not be part of the coalition because they want to protect what white South Africans got during apartheid. I want South Africa to be united but we must first correct past injustices.
Why do you South Africans keep calling yourself black South Africans? You are literally setting yourselves up. There is nothing like black or white South Africans. South Africans are black and the rest are settlers
It's incredible to think South Africa used to have nuclear bombs and performed the world's first heart transplant, it really should be an amazing country but now you have regular power outages

ANC EFF and MK should be in coalition. We still need land and economic reforms. And it's sad that a lot of South Africans take the "open borders " in a literal sense. After using Europe as an example multiple times and people don't understand that there are still immigration protocols, procedures, and criteria requirements. You don't just walk into someone else's country unaccounted for, the borders are still there they are just not barriers. People should look into the SACU countries (South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Namibia), which involves duty-free trade in goods amongst member states, eliminating trade barriers. African unity is primarily all about that.
I see the eff as the best thing for SA. I don't agree with everything Malema says but the eff charter is currently the best way forward IF SA wants practical change. But it's over now. 5 more years of development for the eff.
The EFF is loved by the people, if only they'd start listening to South Africans and stop disrespecting and gaslighting us, the masses would carry them through. Their arrogance!! 🤧 I mean we asked for one thing and one thing only, for borders to stay put but.....

I hope for a coalition that will include PA, i want a PA leader to be a minister of Home Affairs ( one of their demands on coalition) so that He will secure our borders and ensure that immigration is controlled. I don't want EFF anywhere near power...they are doing wonders as an opposition.
there's the freedom front and other splinter white parties.. besides, just because there are black parties doesn't mean they're diametrically opposed to each other or can't effect positive change .. not everyone that doesn't agree with MK or ANC is the proverbial clever black ( phony ) .. corruption is endemic, you only have to look at the more than $300bn state debt we have today $4m per productive and unproductive person in SA, AND WE HAVE VERY LITTLE TO SHOW FOR IT DUE TO CORRUPTION.. @ohlangeni maybe you should also consider looking at all the audit reports since 1994 to see how much waste is going through he system of governance or lack thereof
Democracy isn't working for us and so is the constitution which the very same racist whites DA want to keep as it protects the minority. Ever since Mandela sold us for the "Republic" which prioritizes the minority over majority
ANC has the best policies but have the worst record when it comes to implementing them. As it stands, ANC has opted to adopt a government of National Unity and this entails that ANC will collaborate with DA, EFF, IFP. I hope this will lead to a better implementation of existing policy as well as better effective service delivery
I'm over here in the US but I have to admit, Julius Malema and the EFF got my attention. Honestly, I stopped caring about US politics completely after watching several of his YT events and was entirely focused on South Africa. If nothing else, I appreciate watching black folks move towards true power instead of the phony theatrics of the US. On a sidenote, William Ruto is looking bad out here. Joe Biden is treating this man like a pet.
Quite interesting because the majority of South Africans reject Julius . He does not fit into the acceptable norms , standards and culture of South Africans . Keep ANC and MK away from these ministries- finance, Justice and police, (they must face the music for all their crimes). Also keep them away from any form of development (tenders). Give EFF minister of Justice, education and higher education, since youth seems to trust them. DA must also get transport and electricity ministries. PA must get home affairs and police. ANC must get international relations (DIRCO).
The future of SA is not bright. If everything continues on the same path as it is now, SA would become another average African failed state. Maybe in the western Cape everything will be okay, but not in SA in general. Eff and MK are the same ANC, but less educated and more radical. The most likely outcome will be the ANC, DA & IFP coalition with maybe a few other parties. This would mean a stable economy and less likelyhood of falling out.
Unfortunately our politicians are not matured and well seasoned. Looking at the panel of negotiators, ANC might marry the DA . If they succeed, they might get two thumbs up . Today I had an enlightening conversation with a South African man named Ktangale, who shared his perspective on Julius Malema and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party. According to Ktangale, Malema's contradictory actions, such as advocating for driving out whites while also seeking financial support from them, contribute to the dislike many people have for him. This is an interesting insight into the complexities of South African politics and the EFF's stance on race and economics. Comparing South Africa to Kenya in 2007, when opposition parties united to oust a long-serving president, highlights the potential for change when political forces come together. In South Africa, the emergence of numerous small parties could indeed pose a challenge to the ruling African National Congress (ANC) if they were to form a coalition. However, as long as these parties continue to focus on their individual battles, the ANC may maintain its grip on power. To summarize Ktangale's perspective, the key to challenging the ANC's dominance in South Africa lies in the opposition parties setting aside their differences and forming a united front. By pooling their resources and support, they could potentially create a formidable force capable of bringing about significant political change in the country.
As an American Outsider Looking In I was Hopefull that EFF would Win. I agree with Majority of what Julius Malema has to say. I understand that Most South Africans Are Hesitant with his Views. He's Not Perfect. If Africa wants to TRULY Be FREE, Each Country Needs a "Progressive" President/Party Mindset... In Meantime, I'm Still Looking for The FULL Liberation of African Continent!!!
Malema unfortunately will never win, as long as He still put immigrants first over South Africans ,he must forget about it. His pan Africanism is holding his party back and costing EFF votes. He is also a flip floper and immature, can't rely on his words.
The oppressors are doing everything in their power to make sure that he doesn't win. They gave all the small parties lots of money to campaign so that the black vote can be divided even further.
I think and would like to suggest as well as encourage all African Leaders to Nationalize all their Natural Resources, in all countries or at least give serious consideration to how it would better protect and benefit all there citizens?
I was hoping you would do this segment. Just to get into your head a little bit more. I’m impressed. I voted MK. It will be taking over local government as early as next month through bi-elections. From 2026 you will start seeing the shift and in 2029 MK will be in the majority.
Or... here's a thought. Why not go back to an old system that worked. A system that was rejected only because people did not want to take personal responsibility. A system that places no man above others. A system of equality of life, education and opportunities. A system of your own brothers and sisters; of unity.
In addition, in terms of local government, the ANC hasn't won elections in the richest municipalities in SA since 2016 & since 2006 in Cape Town. In fact, 86 of the 257 municipalities in SA are governed through coalitions. Out of the 8 Metropolitan Municipalities, the ANC only governs 2 by small margins. The ANC has also lost control of the richest provinces (Gauteng, KZN & Western Cape), as well as the Northern Cape. Effectively, the ANC is a rural party capturing votes from senior citizens.
Not necessarily. The British immigrants failed to adhere to the agreement they made with Zanupf . When Mugabe took action. NATO wanted to oust him , however they had to run the issue via SADC which was led by Mbeki back then . And NATO plans were rejected. They resorted to sanctions.
Zimbabwe must not succeed by all means. We must be made the example of. We really are alone in the world (and you are even lonelier if you do not support the ruling party).
My take from these elections is we as South Africans and Africans cannot truly be free politically, economically and socially until we trade amongst each other with a common currency. South Africa is a black country the only reason we talking 'coalitions' is to accomodate western capitalists.
Bingo. And I do not think South Africans understand how this can impact other African nations. Re-colonizing Africa is being discussed. This hold on inviting those who do not have any plans on being fair is mind boggling to me. No matter how much they smile in our faces, they are not comfortable with having equal power with black people.
Let's create our own and care less of what they would accept about us or not. Just like the Chinese, they don't give a sh!t about em. Until we stand on our feet and start doing for ourselves we'll forever be undermined
There's no one stopping trades,if African countries really want to they should, we all should but people must not migrate. They must remain where they are, in their homelands. Other countries should remove their borders if they're comfortable with the idea, some of us aren't. Haybo!!!
You clearly learned nothing lol, having coalitions takes out extreme ideas like S. Africa is a black country of which its not factually nje smh. We are a multi racial country that put South Africa first instead of Africa b.s. Stop with ur party talking points and learned whats in front of you.
Refreshing voice. The negotiations may be a little rough. I do not know where I stand in terms of what I'd like to see happen. Coalition with DA should be most desirable if we are to deal with corruption. If it is possible to negotiate with the smaller parties - and leave DA out, that would probably also be desirable but not sure they can. In other words, bringing them on board. Bringing EFF on board would be a disaster. But it may be needed to deal with whatever land issues there may be. Bring MK on board? With Zuma's history, not sure it can happen. No easy answers. GNU as has been proposed last few days may be a good option. Not sure how workable though. I do not have answers.
Priority will be placed on foreign policy , whether it be political or economic. DA and ANC are very diverse. Parties that can move a needle with compromise are Eff , Anc and PA. Maybe bring in AiC , rise mzansi and udm.
That's too many mouths on the table. Too many different ideologies and demands. It's best to things minimal with ANC + DA + IFP. They are moderate despite being politically on different sides of the table.
I voted for ANC like all the other millions. ANC might have lost the majority but it is still the main anchor. No government without the ANC but you can have a government without any of the other parties.
O the ground in SA people are happy and peaceful. We want to develop build and grow SA. Make it a better country for all.. Polo tics parties are playing games. SA people want to get back to work and build a better. SA.
Precisely, the ANC lost its majority precisely because it remains so hard for the majority of black SA’s who have been disillusioned by its promises made in 1994 to date. Irrespective of the anticipated coalition government’s configuration, the most politically astute SA analysts have predicted that there will not be any structural changes to the “new apartheid” as well documented by Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh and discussed on his platform.
Well . Coalitions need mentoring, which means asking for help from countries which have travelled this path. So it is highly probable that South Africa will make obvious mistakes, and government will be unstable. Raise a hand for help . And see a year of success. Followed by uncertainty. The next five years will be a rollercoaster and interesting to watch. However it will be nothing new , for people who follow global politics.
I voted for RiseMzansi, they prioritise new (young) leaders and voter engagement and accountability from leaders. Theyre a centre left party that can maybe be described as an uncorrupted ANC.
I am a Kenyan and I do not partake in SA election, my view point as an outside. Congratulation to South Africans for performing their civic duty in what seemed to be free and fair election, Zuma crying foul notwithstanding. I have to say I prefer SA party oriented to Kenyan personality oriented and strong presidency system. It is important to look at this election in the backdrop of SA downward trend in many development indexes. At 42% unemployment rate South Africa has the highest unemployment rate in the world, according to the World Bank, outstripping Gaza and the West Bank, Djibouti and Kosovo. When it comes to youth unemployment, the rate is 61% of 15- to 24-year-olds, according to official statistics, and a staggering 71% if you again count those who are no longer trying. SA GDP grew by 2% last year and is projected to grow below 2% this year, it needs to grow at 7% to keep up with unemployment. This high unemployment rate is the ticking time bomb and the biggest informer of the second index crime rate. South Africa has the third highest crime rate and third-highest murder rate in the world. It is also the most unequal country in the world. Like Kenya and many other African countries SA is corrupt, this was perfected under Zuma regime. SA Infrastructures are crumbling, it was at one time one of the best in the world and by far in Africa. Load shedding is not the only challenge confronting SA. Decades of low-maintenance and a lack of investment have led to crumbling transport networks and water supply. The common denominate of these woes and what makes SA the most unequal country in the world is apartheid era economic architecture that is still in place. In 1994 SA brought down apartheid political architecture and left the whites-controlled economy structure in place. To put it blunt ANC, comprise on its charter and removed policies such as expropriation of land without compensation and nationalization of strategic mines sector.. ANC will continue to go down, it is the party of the past. The democratic alliance with its apartheid policy has plateaued, cannot go more than 20%. MK is a Zulu outfit with no national appeal, theirs was revengefully vote, spiting at ANC for mistreating their own Jacob Zuma, thy are not going back ANC most will find refuge in EFF. Malema is making mistake by trying to join ANC, he should woe other small part and even work with MK to form strong opposition. EFF dropped in numbers due to MK and it open border policy, but it is the party of the future. At some point SA youth will come to understand that their cannot isolate SA from rest of Africa. As matter of fact the blacks SAns with technical such as medical, mining, eurospace, security skill will find countries in other Africa. EFF is the future

They have definately taken the ideology of democracy to the next level. The SA "system" like older civilizations have been affect by the bully of the planet. American "democracy". So what's happening around the world and in SA that democracy is a "buzz word". simply put : Democracy is the foundation of corruption because in order for a "government" to get anything done it "must" aquire a lot of "agreements" that sign off to it. That means that I can buy those agreements with money or favor. Therefore the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The construct that a person's vote means freedom in misleading. I won't go through a history of SA that you alread know except to say that the ANC like the left and right of the US end up creating "followers" ..kind of like a church and their denominations. They cannot be reasoned with because of "assimilation". And the problem with THAT is that they rarely take the time to critically analyze policy or proposals. So it takes forever to get something done. Democracy is very slow and for countries that are trying to "develop" quickly to manage population growth this creates congestion which the wealthy (wherever their from) come in with fake help on one hand and intentionally create instability on the other. 30 years and you can't keep the lights on reliably? make it make sense. It's simple but complicated
You are totally off the mark with the number of political parties, like Ash put it these parties are contesting, like a contest there's a threshold to be cleared and the rest of the parties would not make the cut and will diminish into oblivion.
