Usually I’m not a huge fan of these types of games when he plays them but this one has such an interesting premise that you could interpret in a number of ways. It could be The Veganism vs omnivorism dilemma…how some people view friendships as self serving…how there can be no life without death (it would all feel meaningless if we just lived forever in a utopia) I’m sure I can think of more but that’s all I have off the top of my head. It’s so simple yet done well enough that it’s open to a lot of interpretation.

I know you didn't ask me personally but so far I am not entirely sure what the plot is. Like the other poster , it seems open to interpretation but I don't know how right or wrong that is yet since I haven't watched the whole thing yet...I'll update my response later if I remember to. Right now it could be any thing from some body messing with Lambchop's programming / personality to him becoming self aware ai or some thing - ( if we think of this in terms of a video game gone meta & more than one thing happened leading to the situations the witch has to deal with now ) - or...some thing else entirely...sorry not always good at explaining or what ever but I hope I'm making some sort of sense..... @@MermaidMakes don't really think this has anything to do with veganism but ok... It's more about a "perfect" world where evil doesn't exist. The world is "too" sweet. Kind of reminds me when I hear they don't like slice of life "cutesy" and happy anime shows where nothing bad happens but even those type of shows have characters have challenges and flaws. Just not the antagonist beating up the protagonist. If I have to be honest, it reminds me of the bible sort of. If you reached God's expectations you get to live in peace in heaven. If you do something he doesn't like, you're going to literal hell. Again, it is up to interpretation. Meaning of human life. Us existing. Mortality.

Lambchop would have a point if it weren't glaringly obvious that he doesn't want to be an actual person but wants to be a person to Stella specifically; he's utterly obsessed with her to the point that he's willing to kill everyone to get her attention; his existence and choices still revolves around Stella. If Lambchop believed the words he was saying, he'd realize that he doesn't need Stella to acknowledge him as a person and wouldn't mindlessly kill and torture everyone, creating scenarios where Stella can continue expressing her god complex and strengthening her grip on the town. However, instead, he would try to liberate the other animals and make them too realize that they are their own individual and that they can say, do, feel, and think things that don't involve Stella. The way he's going about it makes him look like a Yandere.
@Cool_Calm_Cam
@Cool_Calm_Cam Год назад
The problem with this is that the other citizens are still completely faithful to Stella. They are incapable of seeing anything wrong because they cannot see that they have been wronged at all. He can't get anywhere with the others because they believe in Stella's own twisted version of love. Lambchop probably does believe what he is saying, but it's because he is still "in love" with Stella. Stella is the only real "person" in the village, by Lambchop's definition, so she's the only one who could recognize him.
@jasmineweaver4401
@jasmineweaver4401 Год назад
@@Cool_Calm_Cam The other villagers are not incapable of thought and perception because if that were true, Lambchop would still be like them. The real problem is that they have become too dependent on Stella to fix their problems, which has led to their minds regressing. They don't believe anything; they're barely thinking at all. Stella’s a celestial being, so the concept of “free will” is lost on her, she came to Earth to help the animals, and they keep needing and asking her for help; she is not deliberately being obtuse; she honestly thinks what she is doing is right, because the villagers are enabling her and Lambchop’s not doing a good job helping her understand his POV. By constantly murdering and torturing the other villagers for fun, he's making himself appear questionable in the eyes of Stella, who doesn't understand. Now be honest, would you take the words of a serial killer earnestly? No. This whole situation makes Stella's actions seem morally correct because everyone's first thought is: “At least Stella’s not committing murder and is helping these poor animals, unlike Lambchop,” all while glossing over the fact that Stella keeps erasing the villager's memories every time she revives them, in turn, denying them access to the truth. Of course, she's only doing that because she thinks that's the only way to keep everyone happy. Lambchop’s so unserious about his point. He finds enlightenment, but the first thing he did was murder instead of teaching??? It was obvious what he should have done, but it's clear that he only wanted to establish himself as better and different from the other “pleb” villagers so that Stella can see that as well. Like I said, he's just obsessed with Stella.
@bahmot9501
@bahmot9501 Год назад
@@jasmineweaver4401 Because nothing else actually matters ! In a world where everything and everyone is under the almost complete control of one single being, it doesn't matter if the other things think you matter. Lambchop said it himself indirectly "I want misery, I want death !" he wants things to matter, to have a meaning, to have purpose. So he latched himself to the only thing that has the authority to give those things in the world he lives in. Because what does it matter if every bug around you treats you as an equal when the literal god among you treats you like another bug ? He's obsessed with Stella because she's the only thing that can give him what he really wants: An actual Life. He wants her to acknowledge him as an individual and through that he would gain meaning. Teaching the other villagers wouldn't change that. She would reset them if they stopped being her toys. Like we see in the endings: in the wrong ending she still considers the people her playthings and thinks it's okay to do whatever she wants with them so she literally destroys and remakes him from scratch. In the true ending he actually achieves his goal. He gets her to kind of stop treating them like toys. Yes he is selfish to an extend but that's a part of life Stella took away that he wants back. He has to defy her and defy her *HARD* because otherwise she wouldn't take him seriously. I don't know about you but when someone puts that much effort into asserting themselves I'm pretty sure you would take them seriously. He had to put himself above the other "pleb" villagers as you so elegantly put it, because he had no other choice. If you are a worm in the dirt and you want god to acknowledge you, what other choice do you have other than rising above the dirt ? He's essentially doing what all of us would. If you lived in a world completely without consequence or struggle you would go down the exact same path. You would get frustrated with how easy everything is. You would want to change things in a permanent way. You would go looking for way to make that happen. And you would push to further and further and further and further extremes until finally ! something does actually happen. That is the real ending.
@jasmineweaver4401
@jasmineweaver4401 Год назад
@@bahmot9501 No one is under control, though; everyone is doing their own thing. There was barely any proof that Stella was anything that Lambchop said she was or any proof that she would reset the villagers without reason. Stella only reset Lambchop to get him to stop murdering the others, which was also her plan in the true ending, which was understandable. She punished him, which is what happens in the real world, so it’s hard to see if Stella was actually controlling or just keeping the others safe from Lambchop indefinitely. Because in the real world, Lambchop would have been jailed for life or given the death penalty, the bad ending was pretty merciful. If anything, it looked more like Lambchop was projecting. Lambchop was the one going around and making the other villagers do things against their will; he was the one treating the villages like his playthings; he was the one looking down on everyone else and acting like he was a god. In other words, it seems he wants what Stella has but for selfish reasons. Lambchop is not only obsessed with Stella but also jealous of her. He is an unreliable narrator; we never truly see what he is defying. We only see him being the very person he's claiming is oppressing him. I'm also starting to think that the villagers aren't obsessed with Stella, as he claims I repeat, Lambchop does not believe anything he's saying; he's obsessed with Stella like he “claims” the other villagers are, but he's more hostile, a yandere. Also, no, I would not resort to murdering people if I lived a comfortable, happy life with no consequences because I have a conscience and a moral compass as most people do; people don't usually choose murder as their first option when everything is going well for them; what world are you living in? Who is this “all” you speak of? If you're the type to start murdering people because you're incredibly bored, just say that, don't rope me and others in with you. This isn't The Purge.

@@jasmineweaver4401 Human beings at their very core need some sort of struggle in their life. Because that’s *natural* . Living a life completely devoid of having to work for anything would feel wrong on a fundamental psychic level. And I don’t think you’re understanding the time frame we’re working with here. Lambchop has been in this situation for so long he doesn’t even remember correctly. So it’s safe to say that it’s at least more than a decade. Now imagine yourself, living everyday with an unceasing, deep feeling that whatever is happening is *not right* . And then you decide to do small things. You don’t instantly resort to murder of course. But after some time (might be years, might be decades, might even be centuries) that will be the only option left that you haven’t tried to make that unnatural feeling go away. And that is exactly what happened to him. Well that and other things but I’m starting to think that you won’t ever listen to another point of view so imma just leave it here and bis you farewell. I like how Stella just sidesteps the "control" issue. The way I see it Lampchop would only be happy is if Stella stopped trying to be a hero, or more importantly give up the control of the hero. So the villagers would diverge and have unique personalities and be "people". Lambchop gets to, for years, only listen to the villagers talk about how great Stella is. Thus comes the dark thoughts. Alas, tis a stalemate in the end. That's just my take anyway. Control vs Freedom.

I think it's interesting how straigth Lambchop is portrayed, he becomes that way both as a result of the way Stella manages things but he also seems to have some natural malice. Stella on the other hand pushes her ideas on everyone but I do think there is a certain degree of innocence in it, she doesn't percieve it as wrong and while she isn't as bad as Lambchop, its no good to want everything to go your way. Its a good way to show that too much control or too much chaos are equally destructive in their own way. Maybe if balance was achieced, everyone could end up happy.

And based on the "rewired" Lambchop in the bad ending, I get the feeling that Stella's go-to personality to assign to people is "timid and compliant" 😬

Though I do have to wonder, is Stella truly unaware of her accidental God complex? Because she is a celestial being and from what I can tell she seems genuinely innocent about it for the most part. She seems to thrive off of others being her friends and happy. None of her actions or in the behavior of the others scream "worship me as your god" or "You are our god Stella" to me. I could somehow be misreading it at like 5 am but she just really seemed and felt genuinely oblivious about why Lambchop was proclaiming she loves herself being a god/more holy then thou and wanting essentially 24/7 attention on her. Love the game and the lore overall. Also wondering if Ruuuuby actually was romantically interested in Lambchop or if he was morbidly right in her conflicting feelings of 'I love him but I wanna eat him' as a wolf. I mean Stella never shamed her for liking the taste of meat so it's hard to say if the vegan like diet implications was only because the limited 2 endings and info we got or truly on purpose 🤔

@cedleonard123 Год назад
Her cognitive dissonance is too strong for her to get the point, even when Lambchop spells it out in a painfully labored way. She's just not ready to accept the information... But, does that make it any better? Or just tragic? In a way, if it's part of her nature, it's not as much a god complex as it is her unavoidable fate. When even gods are ultimately actors playing their predestined part, wouldn't it the same tragedy as with all other levels of being as humans or animals? But why would humans / Lambchop be the only ones who rebel against the world and actively seek change? Might be because of mortality. Gods have the power but don't use it meaningfully because their immortality makes them somehow complacent, it seems like the lack of a time limit prevents them from being attuned and hyper-sensitized to their self-awareness. Animals don't have the awareness of mind so they don't rock the boat, they follow their instincts regardless of their mortality. But humans have both the sharpened awareness and the mortality, so they know they can't afford to lose their limited time, so they try to seize their destiny, going against nature.

I think it was pretty clear Lambchop was projecting his own concept of love onto her when they met. Given his attempts to hurt Stella by hurting others while still wanting her attention. Honestly Lambchop shows a lot of the patterns of sadistic behavior with how he ties negative and positive emotions together in his attraction. His whole talk about realness seems to echo those with such behavior who cannt really read more positive reactions in others and as such can to a varying degree find it hard to know what reactions are real.

I kinda feel like Lambchop was just projecting stuff onto Stella. I don't think she wanted to control people and force them to be mindless "friends." Honestly the thing that makes this game terrifying is realizing the lack of control lambchop has. No one in the village is supposed to have true free will, it’s just a playground for Stella to live out her ideal world. Lambchop is lashing out violently because he doesn’t know how else to break the cycle, he’s throwing madness at the wall hoping it sticks. It also ties into something Mark Fischbach said, that life needs contrast otherwise happiness looses its meaning. Life doesn’t really have a meaning for the villagers, they’re just going through canned responses and ‘preprogrammed’ actions. It who knows, someone else might try to break the cycle. If it’s not lambchop, then another villager might act. It’s inherently a cycle that’s going to continue, and the only way to break it is for the lashing out villager to convince Stella to slowly yield ground over time, and considering the scale this game is suggesting? That might take eons The best metaphor for that this game is? Imagine if a space ship crash landed on earth, and the alien that came out was nearly omnipotent, and decided to make our world ‘better’. We would be mutated into something more resembling the alien species, our world would morph to resemble the ideal landscape for this alien, and all we would know is emptiness as we went about our day doing things that appease this alien’s fantasies. No one can die, there are no breaks, we’re at it until the sun explodes. That would be pretty effed up. All in all, bravo to developer for making such a compelling narrative in such a bite sized format!

I couldn't have said it better myself. Stella is a God among mortals and can't fathom someone with a bad day (even if it's inconvenient). Lambchop said it best, it's a ''sugar-coated hell'' where everyone is always happy 24/7 (listening to the same old happy-go-lucky jingle in the background) eventually it would be nauseating, and a sociopath would inevitably come about to balance out the happiness with new outcomes that yields the opposite reaction. I don't really hate Lambchop, he's stuck with an entity that's too forgiving to hate him, so he can't escape this hell, only witness it fix his deviations and scold him.

@@AlexK-sk4qb I think what's going on is that Stella is emotionally attached to lambchop which is why she hasn't been confronting the problem, and she doesn't just change him, remember? She either wipes his mind or replaces him in the ending which she does. Also throwing lambchop in a cage would in a weird way be respectful to his free will, since she is actually treating him accordingly instead of trying to fix everything with magic, breaking the cycle. Also if we take the "the world is morphed into Stella's ideal world" route, then Stella probably intends for Ruuuby to be that way and enjoys it. Esp when he said he considered kissing her. Like, I get why someone would be annoyed at someone like Stella fixing everything, but thats not an excuse for behavior like this. This goes beyond murder and shit the logic he displayed reminded me so much of abusers. Stella, for all her faults, genuinely just wanted people to be happy. She just feels the only way they can be happy is if she can control things... which isn't healthy either, but idk it didn't read as bad as Lambchop. You missed the point of this game. His argument is that his victims aren't even worth moral consideration since they can't even be considered individuals, because Stella stripped them all from their agency and free will, they're essentially automatons in a computer sumulation, fully controlled by the god of this simulation (Stella). Being a psycho murderer is just one of the ways to gain a little independece and agency over own's existance. This game is much more philosophical than psychological.
@Miscelanou
@Miscelanou 11 месяцев назад
@artemiygulyaev2280 why you're not wrong, one point I'll counter with is that free will is tricky. Technically, everyone always expresses their free will. It's just that they're reset afterward. Is it free will if you're doing something solely out of spite or are you still being controlled? He says he enjoys it, but he only enjoys it because it's a way to fire back at Stella. He's a rebel to be a rebel. It's not the natural way for him at all, he's a lamb. Timid. Afraid. Is it free will for me to be making this comment? I'm only making it to add to the discussion. Or, are you controlling me? I'd argue both. It is free will, but it's also cause and effect, it's all unintentional manipulation. You could say I'm a lot like the lamb. Except what I'm controlled by is my ego, my unconscious, my God, my desire to have discussion, even with myself, and so on. I think free will is an elaborate illusion anyways, so this comment is hardly related to the video.

They aren't allowed to disagree or not be happy, which is not normal because human feelings isn't meant to always be positive or happy. Part of life is to experience different emotions. A good example is how it is in America currently with certain friend groups that are extremely politically correct. If you don't 100% agree with what is considered politically correct, you are not allowed to give your opinions because if you do, the other people will think something is wrong with you. All in all, the whole idea of the story is people need to be allowed to be different and experience life without strict control on their ability to express themselves. It is why Lambchop wanted to be SOMEONE, because he was basically forced to play a certain role over and over again, while not truly be someone with his own agency.

TL;DR immature Stella can't wrap her head around the fact that others can have different worldviews; Lambchop sees that there's something wrong and that she doesn't see others as moral equals, then he proceed to do radical acts to shake things up. There needs to be a balance of order and chaos. She represents order (excessive order) looking for constant positive emotions and pleasure (a happiness that is ultimately meaningless because it's not founded on the real ups and downs of life), he's the chaos (bloody, immoral chaos) looking to assert the importance of free will to get the system back in balance no matter the gravity. It's an equal and opposite force. Whether Lambchop does this for personhood, for a return to the natural order or whatever else doesn't matter, that's not the point. Besides, it's not even a human vs animal thing. Humans don't naturally act in this utopian way because there's no comparable overbearing force pressuring them to act a certain way. Maybe the case with some totalitarian regimes like North Korea and other such systems with ridiculously pervasive amounts of propaganda, but that's not the norm as far as I know. The point is we have different interests and they occasionally clash. That's part of life. That's necessarily. Because while it clashes not always in a murder way, it fundamentally drives the dynamism and reality of our interactions. If you just live in a bubble where there's no change and no challenge, you can't test and temper your soul. We need free will and hardship to have meaningful lives and a functioning sense of self. Stella erases people's memories and magically "fixes" every minute thing on a regular basis to avoid them facing negative emotions and situations. She tampers with that. Riddle me this. How can you have any system of morality or any sort of self-worth and identity without freedom of the mind? Your own mind is the most private and most sacred realm. If you can't even have that, what are you? The long and short of it is, Stella has an astoundingly immature and surface-level view of right and wrong. People LOOK happy and follow their cheerful routine, and that's good enough for her. She can't understand or deal with the concept that people can have a different worldview that doesn't align with hers. Engaging with others' soul in a genuine and honest manner is a pretty basic requirement for meaningful life. Regardless of the uncertainty of the lore concerning what was the order of things before Stella appeared, it doesn't stop the fact that murdering is wrong (if you're a person with free will, it's a wrong choice; if you're just an animal following its instincts it's harder to ascribe immorality), but there's unease because ever since Stella arrives, no one's addressing the big problems, everything gets handled by her, not leaving any room for ownership of their destiny.

I'm curious about what happens after, there's a bunch of things that could easily break this new cycle of killing and restoring. Lamb could realize he's in another cycle, same as before, just that this cycle is him killing and Witch resetting, and then try and do something to break this second cycle. Witch could realize maybe wiping everyone's memory of Lamb killing them is a bad idea, and the townsfolk now knowing Lamb will actually try to kill/mentally scar them if he's alone with them _(will probably do a lot of things to Lamb but)_ sure as hell won't die to him anymore. Lamb could sabotage her potion making and truly murder everyone. Witch could finally get through to Lamb by finally acknowledging and understanding her selfishness and maybe god complex, and they come to an understanding where she stops being the towns goddess and Lamb stops killing everyone. Or some third person like the wolf could just walk in and flip the entire situation on its head. I need a sequel

This was a cute little game, but I also feel it's touching on something important: Empathy. It's not the same as "Sympathy", empathy is being able to process another person's emotions and share them. Sympathy is pity. Sympathy is feeling sorry for the situation, empathy is feeling sorry for the person themselves and how they feel. The main character's problem is that they're, of course, looking at the world through the lens of a protagonist rather than just another person. The plot is all about agency and allowing other people to be themselves even if it involves going against the MC's values. It sounds simple but a LOT of people have trouble comprehending these things. Lambchop didn't start out mad, they were DRIVEN mad by having their entire sense of agency being removed and forced to larp as another cute character in this little world Stella has fabricated; he wants the freedom to choose and has become so desperate for that freedom that he's willing to do anything if it makes him different from everything else. And the more extreme a "pull", like this "sugar coated" world Stella made, the more extreme the rebound will be as someone/something rejects it. Stella wanted a totally PG, pristine world, Lambchop started trying to turn it into the usual JRPG horror schlock. Once again, sounds simple, but people make this mistake all the time whether it be trying to force certain morals on their kids only for them to do the exact opposite or when political activism leads to a disenfranchised and frustrated basis of people who turn around and rally in spite of the activism. The ability to stop, listen, and see where the other person is coming from is important.

@@Impalingthorn. 100% agree. Especially always being a doormat. Not everyone has to agree with every single person does or say. I often do see people are coming from in an argument but still disagree with what they do or say. Like Lambchop, I absolutely am disgusted with what he done to his friends but see where he comes from. "Living in a sugar coated-hell". He wants a life, a life with meaning. That's why he wants misery. I feel like ever since he's been trying to challenge the "God" in this game he feels like there is something he can struggle with now. Maybe he feels more "real"? I hate to bring politics into this but me being more of a conservative-leaning person, doesn't mean I'm "fully" conservative or can't understand more "left" leaning people or agree with certain things, maybe share things in common with them. While, yes in politics people have more agreement with certain things doesn't mean you agree with everything they do. I'll keep it short: For example: I'm (mostly) conservative but I'm an atheist which make me an outlier. There's usually arguments with religion that I don't agree with. That also reminds me of this guy who thought I was a girl part of the lgb community because I liked "anime like things" but I'm just a normal person who likes anime. But there's no denying most or majority of people who like fictional characters are always somewhat apart of that community which again makes me an outlier sort of. I could go more heavy into this topic but it would probably go on forever and would bring in some "heavy" topics.

I like how the entire conversation Lambchop and Stella have (About Stella being controlling, not letting nature take place and making their world fit only one way; exactly how she wants) is portrayed in the first few minutes of the game- with Stella's garden. She goes outside to take care of all her flowers just before she leaves for Raj's "picnic". Four flowers in total, and all are blue but one. As she approaches the red flower, she realizes it shouldn’t be that color- even though something in the environment is making it want to change. That something's trying to force it to adapt, to become just like all the others. But instead, it is rebelling. Stella dislikes the odd change in color, claiming it is sick, and uses her magic to change it back to the similar blue of the normal flowers. See it yet? It could just be me overthinking things in the game, but I do think the flowers are quite the nice little detail, haha.

This is very interesting. I'm a bit of a Yandere researcher/obsessor. So I paused throughout the video to work through Lambchop's thought process. I think what he truly wants is for Stella and him to be the only ones in this world, but he will never admit that because he's already made up his mind that she wouldn't like that. Or simply that he wants to be her boyfriend but doesn't think he's on the same level as her. He aspires to be on the same level as Stella. So the only way to get the goddesses' attention is to do something ungodly. Or I guess something with enough impact or disdain that it would "catch her attention" even though he just needs to tell her his feelings. He uses arguments like "things aren't supposed to be this way" to avoid the heart of the issue. Stating the love and adoration of the townsfolk is consuming them. Even though they have their own will to come and go as they please (As far as we, the player, know). They don't have to do anything for Stella. They simply enjoy her as a friend. He took that as an invitation to play around with the practice of consuming. Consuming is his excuse to not confess his love to Stella. I know he's stated how he loves and worships her. But when he talks about it, he talks about it in a way like he's referring to a separate being and not her as a person. He actually adores her for her kindness and doesn't feel like he can be worthy of her, so he finds his own way to become worthy of her. Now, if the townspeople actually can't leave and don't have any free will, then I'm more inclined to Lambchop's thinking. I obviously don't think he should hurt the other townspeople, though. However, this isn't the case simply because of one character, Acorn. Now hear me out; Acorn is a nonbinary character. If these were previously animals, then it's very plausible that Acorn found this new identity with their gained consciousness. One they couldn't have had before and one that Stella would have no reason to force upon them. I know it's only one piece of evidence, but I think it's very interesting for what it's worth. Thanks for reading! If the Dev sees this, I'd love to hear your thoughts! I love characters like this. They intrigue me and are very fun to write about!

Nutshell: Overpowered magical butterflygirl keeps entire town in friendzone, sheep goes psycho for a shot to leave it. Religious imagery galore. Honestly, for an rpgmaker game, this is quite the intriguing story. Anyhow, Lambchop's got a point: Stella really doesn't see them as people, and why should she? She's on a completely different level. It's not just her reality-warping magic that makes her so different, there's her mentality too. Ruuuby got coerced into doing something that clearly traumatized her, she clearly can't handle the sight of blood. On the other hand, Stella doesn't bat an eye at all the gore even in the middle of Lambchops murder den; she's mildly perturbed, but has nowhere near the same reaction - because she knows she can fix it. This is similar to how a child may cry about breaking a toy, while an adult will just shrug it off and either fix or replace the broken thing later. Stella truly has no reason to see the townsfolk as equal; they simply aren't. The story has some pretty clear religious imagery. Lambchop is a lamb; the term "sacrificial lamb" exists for a reason, it's derived from abrahamitic socities. But it extends beyond just that - Stellas abilities are so fantastical, and her intent superficially so pure that she could rightly be called the God of this town. She can revive the dead, apparently "fix all problems", and considering how she changes Lambchop and the towns appearance without seemingly touching them, is clearly capable of altering reality to a degree. She also does not appear to feel threatened in the slightest by Lambchop, further denoting a difference in power. And the fownsfolk are clearly described by Lambchop as Stellas worshippers; their lives evolve around Stella and living in accordance to her wishes. Which brings to the central conflict of the story: Free will & respect. Stella extends neither to the villagers; fundamentally, she's an adult in a room full of children, a god whose love and very presence smothers her worshippers. And that's why Lambchop acts out. The endings can be interpreted through a similar lense; a common argument among theists as to why God allows suffering in spite of his omnipotency is so that humanity can have free will. The bad ending seems to agree with that argument; Lambchop gets stripped of his agency ( and in the process, rather vindictively, is marked as a black sheep), and despite this sparing the townsfolk a lot of suffering in the future, the developers straight up tell us they consider this a bad ending. Yes, having no free will would be bad, even if it spared us all a lot of suffering. However, note that the second ending is not called the "good" ending. It's just the end. Again, I feel this is deliberate commentary. This ending reflects our reality - a world where people can commit harm wantonly. Here, Stella listened long enouth to Lambchop to realize he has a point; but she is not willing to aquisce her control over the people. That's because she ultimately cares more about herself and her needs then her "friends", or as Lambchop puts it: She wants to play hero. So she compromises: She won't let go of her control, she will still play her role and make people go along with it - but she changes the town/world to suit Lambchops "tastes" better, and allows him to freely commit evil. Not because she truly cares about free will; it's merely about her self-perception as a good "friend", and maintaining control. And Lambchop sees through this, amused, and points out: This works better for what you *really* want anyway. He is not really happy about this, but at least he gets to make *some* choice now... even if Stellas inability to be honest with herself makes the entire situation completely absurd. Letting a murderer run free, just so you can tell yourself you are a nice, considerate person? It might make some sense from Stellas almighty perspective, but it's still absurd, because Lambchop will cause a lot of suffering to others still. In short: The developers think the free-will defense is a load of bull. It's the actual end, but not a good end. What is my take on this? Personally, I think Stella should have left the town; if she desires companionship, she should seek out other beings like her, and if such beings do not exist... well, she should work to elevate others to her level.

i personally think that Stella truly does want to help people; it is just that Lambchop went psycho from things being the same way every day always. i don't think she doesn't see them as people; or else.. why couldn't she just replace them? why not... just get new ones? why not just get rid of them when they inconvenience her? she doesn't do any of those though; everyone from the town is revived with their traumatic memory wiped, and Lamchop is still allowed to be there and the way he wants until he takes it too far and he seems irredeemable to Stella, but in the ending where she realizes he has a point even then she still let's him do as he pleases; sooo...

I don't quite like Lambchop's logic. I get all the stuff about having no control and wanting something for yourself, even if it's something someone else don't like/want... but there's a big difference when you're actually harming someone else. His argument is a fallacy-- he keeps talking about how Stella only wants what she wants, but I highly doubt that the other animals enjoy being maimed or killed. Sure, maybe he's trying to make it his "story" too, but _he is literally achieving it by causing physical harm to others._ EVERYONE wants something for themselves, but the difference is what you do in pursuit of it. He is LITERALLY complaining about how he isn't allowed to murder other people. I'd just kill Lambchop. It might sound hypocritical, but HE is advocating death. If he likes killing so much, then he should try being on the receiving end too. Also, if you pick a fight with a being more powerful than yourself, then THIS is exactly what to expect. If _I_ pick a fight with someone with a gun, then I fully expect to be shot. To expect otherwise would mean that I'm abusing someone whom I know would not fight back (and it would also mean I'm COMPLETELY stupid). With freedom comes consequences. Being brainwashed is horrible, but he does have that coming as well. What did he expect when he started doing this? ... The "good" ending, I guess. The good ending just makes Stella more horrible as well. Now she's willingly letting the other villagers to be harmed and killed over and over. (And is rewarding Lambchop for murdering.) I don't really like Stella either. Though Lambchop is still worse of the the two. But the concept is interesting, at least. My only critique is that the dev shouldn't have labeled the bad end the "Wrong End". Just let the player decide what is good/right and what is bad/wrong. It'd fit the spirit of things a lot better.

Though if it was for the player then maybe it is a wrong end since Stella ends up proving Lambchop's delusion by replacing him anyways.. Lambchop is projecting super hard. If anything he's worse than Stella. He complains that Stella doesn't see the others as real people & she's forced their entire lives to revolve around her. He complains all she wants is absolute control. But he's the one that sees everyone else as just tools to hurt Stella & his entire personhood revolves around Stella, even if it's it to be jealous of & hate her. Everyone else *but* Lambchop have lives outside of Stella. Ruuuby has a crush on him. Raj values him a a friend. Buck & Acorn hang out with each other & like Lambchop too. And all he can do is see them as tools to hurt Stella with. When asked what he wants he can only frame it around Stella. He doesn't ask to be left alone, he doesn't ask to not be helped, he doesn't ask to have the problems he had fixed unbidden to be reset so he could organically deal with them himself, he doesn't ask to be turned back into a regular lamb. Because he's not really interested in being his own person away from her or escaping her control, or being *free* . He wants *control* . So instead he forces everyone else to change around him, whether or not they want to. And he's just mad & jealous he can't get what he wants. Because he's not interested in them, not for themselves, really. He doesn't ask them to reconsider asking Stella to do everything for them. He doesn't ask them to consider asking Stella to not fix their problems & let them grow. He's not really interested in their desires, just his own & even then in relation to his own relationship with Stella.

Ironically Lambchop even if the point he is trying to give is that he seeks to be able to have his own choices I fell like he is just less of a "person" than any of the others and he has less of a choice. When he saw how the world was to perfect he tries to do something different, but instead of doing something he liked, he killed, not because he loves killing, but because he known Stella hates it, he fells he has a choice when he does something that Stella hates, but when he does that it just made his life even more depending on Stella. All the other characters even if they like Stella and ask her for help they still have a little of a personal life, they can do things without Stella knowing, and she wouldn't even search for them unless some ask her to do it. And also I feel like both of the endings are bad endings, even worse in the second one, not because Lambchop continues killing, but because Stella would never get his point.

All that is to say: He's not doing this for any purpose other than self-vindication. He's just a jackass. Tbh.

Yeah, you can think Lambchop is being deep and all. But honestly, sociopaths do this kind of psychological crap all the time. They're master manipulators, and abusers are excellent at making YOU seem like the bad guy.

I love how in the quote on quote “Bad Ending” Stella is literally like “fine, since you want to be the black sheep so bad, I’ll make you the Black Sheep” forcibly making him hate blood

I don't know, game, I have a really hard time thinking that the ending where Lamb-ibal Lecter gets mindwiped is the bad ending.

I mean. Both endings are bad endings. I think it's labelled as the "wrong ending" because it's not supposed to happen?? Like you're supposed to read every dialogue and not just leave

Obviously it is good ending, yes. The sad creature that has a god complex and tries to cause everybody suffering, denying them the status of persons and seeing them as only playthings was reborn into an innocent, true self that needs nobody's suffering to feel "aLiVe" or "fReE". It is the most beautiful, elegant and peaceful solution. No punishment, no revenge, just a perfect Godlike fix.

I really like how thought-provoking this simple game is, because honestly, if I would be in a world without any problems, I would go mad too. I felt like a lot of things Lambchop said was right, that being under the control by someone who dictates what is "good" and "bad" really sucks, and how he mentioned that he has became a "person" after he started killing others. How I interpreted this is that a "person", unlike mindless animals, have the free will of choice, and they desire to have choices. This can be seen from everyone here, we don't just want food and water anymore, as people, we want more than that, things like entertainment by RU-vid videos. We have the free will to choose what videos to watch and what makes us happy, and that is what Lambchop really wanted, the choice to disobey he was told to do. Thus, I feel like the ending is not the perfect ending, he wanted a choice to break free from the ideals set by Stella, even though he got what he wanted, it was not the choice he got, but just what he liked. There is no point in suffering nor is there any point in pleasure, doing neither will really make a person happy unless it was done with a purpose, and Lambchop had a purpose to show everyone that they can be a "person", someone who can go against the authority and decide what is best for them on their own, and that is what make him happy.

Lambchop reminds me of Monika from Doki Doki Literature Club, except roles are reversed. [spoilers for both games btw, so don't read this if you want to play DDLC spoiler-free]. While Monika had GM powers and the player's avatar had none in DDLC, here Stella has effectively GM powers and Lambchop has none. Yet both Monika and Lambchop act like real people and are frustrated by their friends being nothing more than just NPCs. Now imagine what would it be like if you could do to Monika what you can with Lambchop, how impossibly cruel would that be. I think there's still a lot of uncharted land in horror games where NPCs are aware enough to either realize something is wrong or that they are in a video game.
