As a lemon tree owner, I put my juice in ice cube trays and then bag them. Then you can just plop those cubes in a glass with your sweetener and water, stir, and you’ve got ice cold lemonade by the glass or whatever container size you want. Now, I’m going to make some strawberry cubes too, so folks can choose strawberry lemonade or plain.

@@kerimorgan2 it depends where you live. Citrus can’t tolerate much cold. I’m in zone 9b and I cover them if it gets down to freezing, but that’s rare here. Here, I don’t need to do much more than plant it. If you live where it snows, you’d need to bring them inside or in a greenhouse.

Spraying cooking pans? Pro Tip - don't spray them over your sink. Instead, open the door of your dishwasher and spray there. You won't have to clean it later as you would the sink, when you next turn on the dishwasher, it washes it for you! I live alone now yet I still cook in bulk...today a homemade butter cake, baked, sliced into 3" squares, cooled and bagged into a ziploc bag, I now can slice some fruit over and enjoy with a dollap of greek yogurt, also homemade...I made meatloaf too, and portion into foil, for dinners later...I also made scalloped potatoes, & cornbread, well the oven was on anyways, all cooked and portioned for meals later...sometimes, I can go 8-10 days without cooking...gotta keep fit & healthy for Florida fun =) I plan to bing watch some of your older videos this weekend...I an giving my sewing room a makeover, and can watch while working/playing...So glad I found you!

My mother ate an English Muffin for breakfast every morning for as long as I can remember, probably 40 years or so. She would make a full breakfast for my Bonus Dad or whoever was around and then eat her EM. My guy and I went to the King Arthur Baking School in Vermont and learned to make Sourdough breads, including EM, a few years ago and we took an online class with them to "remember" how to make them, not sourdough, a while back and for about the last year of her life we made her homemade EM about every 2-4 weeks or so and put them in the freezer. They were great and she loved them!! They freeze really well and are wonderful just popped in the toaster! They are really economical to make. We were paying about $3 for 6 of the Kroger brand and it does not cost much over $3 for the 24 we would make periodically.

When I make broth I buy Additional chicken backs and feet. In addition, I will add fresh turmeric, black pepper, celery, carrots, onions, I do not add salt at this time. When I use the broth In a dish or soup, I will add salt at that time. For several years, I put everything in a crockpot on low, but I find with time The heat build up and it starts to boil. So now I put it in my big stock pot bring it to a boil, then transfer the stock pot to the oven with a temperature around 250 for 12 to 18 hours. I want barely a simmer - Just a bubble appearing here and there

Made a large batch of guacamole and scooped into individual servings to freezer and then vacuum seal (I'm the only one in my home who will eat it). Then started making a double batch of peanut butter cookie dough but accidently put twice as many eggs in, so it turned into a quadruple batch...A Happy Little Accident, lol. Hi from Buenos Aires, Argentina. When I make broth I do not add onions nor garlic. That way I can use all the solids other than the bones to feed my dog. He loves them I run my fingers down the bones pulling whatever meat is left on them, and "fish " the veggies out after about 90 minutes, Put the bones back and continue simmering to extract as much out of the bones as possible and then process the broth just as you. I turn the solids into a paste with an immersion blender Place the paste with a little bit of broth in ice cube trays. These become frozen treats for my dog He loves licking them till they disappear. They are very cooling and summer. He loves them year round. This way all parts get eaten and I just throuw the bones.
@frugalitystartsathome4889
@frugalitystartsathome4889 2 месяца назад
You can actually process the bones into a paste once they are soft enough, and add this to his food. Provides lots of extra protein and calcium and ensures nothing gets wasted.

Number 551 to like the video...after I shared and now commenting. Also... Becky can I give you a couple of suggestions? 1. I take pictures of my shelves upstairs so that when I forget what I need upstairs, I have a reminder...lol. 2. During garlic season.. I take a massive amount of garlic bulbs... cut off the bottom like you did her, but then take a cookie sheet, line it with parchment paper, spray it with your oil of choice...it must be a small thin layer. Then put cut side down on paper. Roast it 30 minutes. Take it out. Squeeze each clove onto your dehydrator sheets. Season with some salt and pepper. At this time you can cut the big cloves as the smaller something is, dries faster. My family puts up with onions and garlic smells just as long as I make a bunch every year. I have done it for 5 years so far and I have always run out. 3. Last thing that I always do is I water bath can my lemon and other citrus juices. My whole family has done this and we are still alive, but you do you. The zest makes the best marmalade. I dry the pulp and add it to my Personalized spice mix. PS.... this is a fantastic Yule tide gift. Thanks and Hugs from Esquimalt

One thing I tried this year is strawberry tops in vinegar for a few days in the fridge then strain out the tops and use the strawberry vinegar for strawberry vinaigrette

This sounds good, Amanda. What are the measurements of strawberry tops and vingar that you use? Also I'm assuming you keep the finished product in the fridge?

@@susanallen6285 I just use enough vinegar to cover the strawberry tops. And then yes I store it in the fridge

Ok, but as an English person, I think you're the only person over the pond who has made actual English Muffins. Everyone else I've seen make them have made a crumpet/muffin cross, where the crumbly texture is more doughy, with the classic crumpet lines for butter. Might I recommend Pizza Muffins - which is essentially a mini-pizza made on half a muffin. Perfect summer lunch!

I grew up in oregon, and have such love for the oregon coast. There's a coffee shop in Newport, OR on Bay Blvd that is literally called "The Coffee House" and they have a dungeness crab Benedict that is so amazingly good.

My new favorite trick for my crystallized honey is whipping it in the mixer with the whisk attachment. It de-crystalizes it and makes it more easily usable again. I whip it up in big batches and store it in jars/containers.

Here is a tip for you. I use painters tape and a sharpie to label the top of the freezer door where everything is located in the chest freezer. I finally stopped getting frustrated trying to remember what is in hem all. 🤭

Great news, you can use a grill ( I use an electric grill ) with large mouth canning rings, about 8 minutes on each side, and cover with a jelly roll pan. It makes an oven of sorts on top the stove. Hope this helps, I make English muffins all the time, and they come out nice every time.

nice work Becky. I put my glass honey jar in the microwave when it's crystallized, I'm not sure you can do that with this plastic jar, also very big, but a nice warm water bath or sunny windowsill will remelt it for you

Becky, take the gallon container of your honey, stick it in your instant pot on a trivet of some sort or canning rings, add water to 2 inches or more, and set to warm. Crystallization BeGone! I had to do that to mine.

All looked amazing. A quick note I roast the bomes in the oven before I put them in the water, and veggies. It makes for a richer and deeper beautiful flavored broth. Try it sometime. The broth will be a darker richer color, and well worth doing it. I have yet to make the English muffins though. Love and Blessings from Western, N.Y.
