the swift life was so hilarious like the girlies would say something like “no school for me because of the weather!” and random old men would be like “no school for me today because i’m 60!”
being in an all girls high school when Kim Kardashian Hollywood cam out was WILD. you could not take two steps in any direction without hearing the "hey bestie" from someone's phone
No seriously I could go on about how what teenage girls like is so hated on and called basic yet is what drives the trends in pop culture and just culture in general
Weird adult males try to gatekeep everything that teenage girls like even though initially it was teenage girls (and sometimes adult women) that made those things famous. Star Trek, the Beatles, Queen, Led Zepplin etc… now a days they hate teenager girls for liking one direction, tik tok, etc…. As if those things still aren’t the biggest things in pop culture and if adult males were the predominant fan bases these things would be a lot more respected
That Demi Lavato Episode series had the tightest grip on me. I was fighting for my life every hour, waiting for my tickets to reload, watching all the ads yet refusing to spend a single penny. I ended up crying every time I had to wear the ugly outfits to the concerts and dates.
I remember being SO mad about the whole Ryland-Alex forced love triangle. I always liked Alex and hated Ryland, so when I chose not to kiss him and he kissed me anyway and everyone acted like it was a mutual thing I was piiiiisssssed 😂
when i had to wear ugly outfits for dates i just went into my wardrobe and put on a nicer outfit, it didn’t affect the story in any way but it made me feel better 😭
The most tragic part of the Kim Kardashian game was that I had to study it for media GCSE. Part of the grades that dictated my future were literally dependent on Kim K's pay to win game
No I remember spending like 30 dollars on gems for the Demi Lovato Tour game on episode. Only in the game, I got kicked off the tour for insulting Demi and It was so traumatic for 10 y/o me that I deleted episode, erasing all of my progress is the process. I actually cried over it and It's so funny to think about now.
Why does this have the same energy as that fake twitlonger about some fan who met demi saying that she called her fat, flicked her vagina and spoke whale language to her, and after she exposed her demi dmed her saying "delete it f@t before I f you up" 😭
I may have made stupid use of my time by playing that demi lovato episode when I was a kid(I wasn't even a fan of her..?) but I'm glad that I at least had the sense to not spend money on game apps😭
As a teenage girl who constantly gets put down for liking literally anything it felt really nice to be appreciated for the work that I am doing for pop culture!
Love the insinuation by the app that Britney Spears is living the American dream. Sexualized and taken advantage of by an entire nation as a teenager, vocal chords destroyed from a corporation forcing her to sing in an unnatural way so her singing career was basically over in her 30s, and under a conservervatorship by her abusive father. Honestly, pretty accurate representation of what happens when you chase the American dream tbh.
That's the only thing they had going for them, and people still got a free trial, listened to it a few times and left. The idea of paying a subscription to listen to music that's free everywhere else was not as smart of a move as they thought.
@@PRM77 Well it wasn't "free everywhere else" because LEMONADE didn't go to youtube until years later and was released on Spotify later as well. So the only place to watch and listen to it was Tidal. To this day, a lot of the beyhive use Tidal instead of Spotify (for exclusive stuff really), I mean I would too if I wasn't broke lmao
@@natashafernandez6709 I know lemonade didnt come out on other platforms until recenly, what I mean is that music (the rest of the catalogue they offered) was free everywhere else. That's why people who wanted to listen to the album got the free trial and then left. Maybe some beyhive stayed, but for many it probably wasn't worth it.
@@PRM77 ya I feel you I was just saying that Tidal still does have an audience, a rich one anyways lol, but ya it’s not worth it for the rest of us and I think they’ve learned that. B7 will probably be on all platforms hopefully.
my fave celeb app was the Dwayne The Rock Johnson one, it was basiccally just an alarm clock app that had different alarm tones that were like....Dwayne singing to you, or an autotune of his dog barking. Top tier truly.
Naurrrrr the Kendall and Kylie game had the tightest grip on me 😭 I would beg my mom to give me countless iTunes cards just so I could spend an absurd amount of money trying to get the goddamn Kylie bikini … nothing I do in my lifetime will redeem that act
There was this lady Gaga ‘pet’ in the game Moshi Monsters but it was changed to “lady GooGoo” and it was lady Gaga as a baby??? They even made a whole song for lady googoo, but I think what happened was lady Gaga sued them lol
omg yes i used to have a green sparkley lady googoo from a blind bag and then she sued them and i was like omg im gonna keep this forever i could sell it for so much money but i lost it moving house 😭😭 at least little me was an entrepreneurial queen
My KKH phase was dark… spent so much time and money on it, I would literally set alarms to wake up and finish projects lol but it’s a super fun game and made really well
I like this guy. He has a very large personality but he doesn't shout at me and he does a good job providing a lot of details. I think I will watch more
I remember I once downloaded the Harry Potter game, and it is literally impossible to get past the second level without paying money, I cried so hard trying to get out of that detention room
i always wanted an app that was like instagram but worse. my love and admiration for jeremy renner kept getting clouded by these other people and random ads and only being able to like his posts once just broke my heart 😔💔 but thank god i now have an app where i can only see jeremy renner and spend my real money to like his recycled content as much as i want
Mike we really need to talk about how The Urbz: Sims in the City just straight up had all of the Black Eyed Peas as NPCs in the game and they recorded Simlish versions of their songs for the soundtrack. Truly iconic
They also did the Black Eyed Peas Experience, basically Just Dance but with their songs. There was also some drama with the portable rhythm based version which was never released
I remember using a hack engine for the Kardashian game and would get infinite money on there, then would impress my friends by sending them gifts and all i was BALLIN
@@dasaf.2382 it got so much harder to do. i did it in like 2014/2015 and i wanted to do it again in like 2016 and i don’t remember specifics but the way i did it wasnt possible anymore and it got rly complicated. but i was also like 15/16 so. not v hacking savvy lmao
I was at theatre camp doing les mis in summer 2015 (i was 15) and I’m pretty sure my friends and i put more energy into competing over the Kim Kardashian app than learning any of our lines or music
The first app made by a music artist that was centered around an album release was first done by Björk for Biophilia. That project came out 2011 and inspired others to attempt.
The Swift live was wild, I remember one of her fucking cats always walking across the screen for no fucking reason, also Taylor used this app like once to promote her End Game music video and called it a day
omg this reminded me that I have a screen recording of an ad for the high heels game, in which the text reads "Are you ready for PuRaul's DrageRace?" and the song they used is a hacked to bits version of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" that goes something like this: "All the single-ingles, All the single-ingles...Up in the club, just broke my hip" etc.
I was addicted to that game, and I was never even a big demi Lovato fan. Same with the Kardashians game, I played it all the time even tho I cant stand the Kardashians lmao those phone games were truly something else
I have no interest in Kim Kardashian but I’m fucking obsessed with the game. I’ve never had to spend money on it and I’m already on a pretty high level. There’s actually loads of effort that goes into it now, and obviously if you pay money you get more things but the game is still incredibly enjoyable without spending a single penny.
I’ve spent, (and still do) lots of time on it. I don’t like doing in app purchases but I did one purchase just to remove the adds and it’s been worth it.
I was actually there for one of Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant dash pre-launch parties. It was in a tiny art gallery in San Francisco and at the time I was working catering jobs. I showed up to this gig (not knowing what it was for), had my phone locked in a safe, and spent the next few hours passing out mini sliders made by Christina Wilson to G-Ram and the game developers. Good times! The sliders were delicious
Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas having their own quest lines in Wizard101 for a limited time and then their NPC’s just sitting in the game for ages. Kills me everytime you’re passing by them.
Danny Gonzalez and Drew Gooden’s video about the Jeremy Renner app was the first place i heard about it, and in my mind they are the one’s responsible for the downfall of that app LOL
My family would never allow me to play kim Kardashian’s game so I hid the game in private while playing the Demi Lavato episode game around them only 💀
the lil nas x roblox concert was a truly unprecedented cultural milestone bringing together the disparate worlds of pop music and video games for the first time in history
There was something oddly addicting to me about the Kim Kardashian game.. but what got me to quit was... I went on vacation for a weekend and didn't touch my phone, and when I came back my in-game bf was getting really possessive and I lost him? Lol. I was like, nah. I dont wanna play a game that requires I play daily and not have a life. I have enough of that.
To be fair, KK Hollywood was a very solid game. The art style was top notch, like serious props to the artist who worked on it, and the writing was pretty good (well up to a certain point, you can tell that after a while they just kind of wrote whatever they could think of), and it features really good character customization reminiscent of those 2000’s doll dressup games with new customization options being added regularly, something a younger femme gay version of me lost his shit over.
i was one of the first people to hack the kim kardashian game almost immediately after release and had all my friends stumped on how i was always waiting on more updates to continue the story because i would just speed through everything. good times. also that demi lovato episode collab was a moment in herstory... literally changed my life it was so fun
Kelly Clarkson had a karaoke app in like 2009 where fans could sing and compete to win the chance to sing on stage with Kelly on her tour. It really did pan out and fans got to sing with her at different shows
I’m gonna be honest I clicked on this video to watch something while I look for a show on Netflix (idk why I’m like that physiologists are expensive) but after 3 minute I’ve somehow been completely enthralled in tidal. This is magic.
This the the first vid I've found of yours, and can I just say, I get so excited to find a channel that makes me genuinely laugh. Can't wait to binge the whole channel lolz ❤️
Taylor fan here! The Swift Life was absolutely wild. A lot of creepy old guys were on it ("No school for me because I am 40" is iconic), along with the Trump fans you mentioned in the video. People would also just do really weird stuff to try and get Taylor's attention? And she just never used the app like was initially advertised, which was hilarious.
Mike: “Who would you say is the target audience of Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj in the early to mid 2010s? *drumroll*” Me: the gays Mike: “...teenage girls” Me: oh *EDIT*: just so it’s clear, I’m both a Girl and a Gay™️ myself lol
@@natalie-ft1ke tru! i’m no longer a teenager but i have to shout out a fellow Girl AND Gay 🌈 we make the world go round & our impact is unparalleled tbqh 😌
This culture fully passed by me. I was ✨not like other girls✨ who played Kingdom Hearts and listened to Vocaloid (I still do). Seeing what type of pop culture people were/are into is incredibly confusing, interesting, and sometimes infuriating.
i used to have the katy perry game. there were chat rooms absolutely FLOODED with creepy old men trying to creep on little girls- and im pretty sure there was no filter system. fun times. i hope all the friends i made there are still ok to this day. i think i still remember one named lizard or something lmao.
i love that these videos are getting the recognition they DESERVE !! all of your vids deserve recognition regardless but ive noticed your view count has gone up, and this is very detailed, thought-through content so im glad your hard work is gaining you a wider platform :)) i love all the content you put out anyway. you could post a ten second video making whale sounds and i’d like it
Coming back to this video to say that because of this video, “worstie” is now part of my daily vocabulary to the point that I often forget it’s not something most people have heard, and I have confused friends and acquaintances by dropping it and forgetting to explain myself
I just found ur channel a few days ago and It’s so relaxing. Thank u so much, I now listen to u while I’m winding down for bed, ur voice makes me feel less anxious abt sleeping every night lol
Hey worsties! Regarding the Kim K game, its actually a reskin of glu's older games called Stardom! It's no longer available but if I remember correctly, its exactly like the Kim K games minus any real life celebrities. Shout out to the girls in the back that remembers Stardom
I literally only stopped playing Kim Kardashian Hollywood cuz my ipod bent in half... I still have withdrawal. It was supposed to be a haha meme to get it but I had it for 7 years😳😳😳 I spent no money 👀👀👀
I've quit and redownloaded the game at least 3 times. I'm thinking about doing it again. I wish I didn't have to pay so many K stars just to get married or have a baby, and the constant phone calls from people trying to convince me to buy a club can absolutely F off. But still, it's a fun game. Willow Page was the moment.
same I just downloaded a hacked one and then synced to my game center and then deleted the hacked app, redownloded the actual app, logged in, and had unlimited currency and energy
i LOVED the swiftlife, however I wasn’t a major creator/account on there. there were super cute custom emoji’s/stickers, and it was amazing to feel like we had a place to geek out about taylor without being hated on by kimye stans following the 2016 drama. we talked about concerts, memories, merch, theories, and favorites. if there was a better filter system to prevent bots/hateful comments, i would love to see it come back. the only negatives were that it was EXTREMELY hard to get noticed by anyone, but especially taylor. it was seemingly the same people/group of people getting noticed that had already met her or been noticed by her. there were occasionally giveaways on there for “top fans” which were the same people over and over again. but i would love to see a comeback app from miss swift with the same concept, i think it would be amazing!!!
"There was drama in the Jeremy Renner fandom" -- the way i just spat coffee over these expensive electronics -- and then the Jeremy Renner app divorce announcement?????!!! I MAY NEVER BREATHE AGAIN 💀
This was the video that made me realize I wasn't subscribed. Criminal. But mostly came to say I love every and anything you talk about and you help me open up ❤
the taylor app was SO messy omfg. taylor was still active on tumblr so everyone just stayed on there & interactions on that app meant nothing because no one was on it. i honestly never heard of the trump stans invading the app but it was just annoying ppl trying to get her attention on there so i believe it
Im not shocked by the trump stans because that was the era when Taylor was getting more and more politically outspoken against Republicans and Trump and the things they stood for, and a lot of conservative fans clinging to her country music roots got extremely mad at her for it. Same thing happened again when she released You Need To Calm Down, her socials got flooded by triggered conservatives who were like "i WaS a FaN bUt NoT aNyMoRe!1"
i stumbled upon your video thanks to correct youtube algorithm. i downloaded and played all the celeb games and also cheesy ones like Episodes but i never spent money on them. i never saw the appeal and only played cuz i was curious. But deleted very quickly. There's only 1 game i spend my money on and it's a Korean farming game, been playing it since it was made 8 years ago and i'm very loyal to it. So yes, i can understand why kids will be into these games as their favourite celebs were supposedly in these games. Btw, you talk well, i love your personality and those nails are goals! Anyways, happy to sub! ♥
This is my first video of yours and I just gotta say when I watched the preview, I saw your hand gestures and KNEW I was gonna adore you. Gorgeous nails btw! Subscribed
There’s actually quite a few video games from the late 90s and early 2000s centered around hip hop artists. The record label DefJam had a series of games that had Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes and a bunch of other singers There were two 50 Cent games that were 3rd person shooters that told a glamorized story of when 50 Cent got shot. Also there was a Wu Tang Clan beat-em-up where every member had a fighting style based on the style of rapping they had.
