Helle, thank you so much for your podcast! I find your knitting beautiful….all of it…the neutrals and the brights. It is also so wonderful to listen to your wisdom. Thank you for bringing up the topic of listeners who feel free to criticize in comments on podcasts. I am so grateful to everyone who is brave enough to put themselves “out there” on RU-vid to share what they love. Knitting for me is both a creative and spiritual/meditative craft. Watching podcasts like yours gives everyone a chance to experience another person’s personal world, creativity and culture; something to celebrate and bring us all closer together. ❤❤
Just popping up to say I love your comment - so thoughtful, and beautifully-expressed. I share your opinion: we are so lucky to have the creative and life insights from good people who take the time to share their knowledge and talent!
I love the Danish quote at the start! It's so true, how we interact with people really affects their mood and sets their tone for the day after you leave them
The snow is so beautiful.. Love those accessories, so perfect. Thanks for explaining about the difficulties in reading patterns in other languages, it's so logical.
As always, Hille, I look forward to your podcasts. I am often inspired by your choices and this time was no exception. I’m going to knit the Gujo collar. Thank you for your ever diplomatic rebuttals of unbidden and inappropriate comments. Please don’t let them chase you off RU-vid!
I so love all of your recommendations. Gavor Maté is amazing. You are so right, he is so wise and relaxing and is changing the world with his intelligen conversations. ♥️🐑♥️🐑♥️
From one Libra to another, I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. I just found your channel so it will take a little bit to catch up. I was also an English major and studied to teach Secondary students, but made more money as a legal secretary. Love your style and really enjoy your channel. Keep knitting beautiful things.❤
Thank you for modelling your knitwear in different ways to show slightly different looks. I'm horrible at styling my accessories, and your ideas are a great help!
Another amazing episode. I had to laugh, I’m Australian and I mainly knit Danish patterns! I just finished the Super Selene by Anne Ventzel, it’s perfect I love it ❤ We recently visited Copenhagen and I dragged my poor husband around in search of yarn stores of which there are many. We walked into a small coffee shop and the young woman there was knitting a Sophie scarf, there was an instant connection and she recommended a new yarn store. How I love knitters
I LOVE your podcasts, so inspirational to me. So wish I could have had a teacher like you better yet, you. I could listen to you endlessly. Thank you for the time you so generously share. Sending you good health wishes and blessings for this lovely season. I was raised in snow country and miss the beauty and silence of fresh fallen snow. Thank you,🎄
I find all your videos engaging, informative and thought provoking. I hope you continue with both types of content, but it should also be something you do which is pleasurable for you.
You live in a beautiful place. Very peaceful with the snow. You're a very talented, kind and stylish person. I enjoy seeing what you're working on and hearing your thoughts. Have a wonderful trip to London.
A winter wonderland today. So beautiful. Lovely projects and yarns. Thank you for the podcast recommendations. You always sound very wise yourself. I always learn something. ☃️❄️💞
As I watch this, here in Australia we are in the midst of a heatwave, I am sweaty and grumpy, and knitting in cotton which is hard on my hands. BUT I have your beautiful voice, and your balcony railings covered in snow, and your aesthetic to help keep feel better. I hope you are feeling better, and I am going to take your wise Danish words to my team at work - we teach babies and kids to swim, and having those beautiful words in mind as we finish our long year will help us all show the tired kids some extra grace over the next week.
I keep track of my increases/decreases by putting together 6 small safety pins (markers that look like little lightbulbs) The first is white and the last is black. The white one means I'm knitting the first round. I "climb" to the next marker the next round, eventually I get to the black one and then I do my increase/decrease. The next round I insert the needle in the white and start the climb again. Thank You for a lovely video and I wish you a merry Christmas ❄️♥️🌟
I'd love you to make a short video of you knitting. I'm curious to see other people's knitting styles. I'm a left-hander who learned to knit mirror image to my aunt so very lefthanded. I so enjoy your podcasts and really appreciated your style and especially your colour choices. Thank you for sharing yourself and your knitting journey.
You are such an amazing knitter with just the best yarn and color choices. Oh how I wish I lived next door - you’re so talented. The scenery is gorgeous as well as you. Thank you so much for doing this podcast when you’re not feeling your best. Healing blessings to you ❤
Well you have really cheered me up on a foggy, rainy day. It looks so beautiful there. I always look forward to seeing all your knits. Very inspirational 😊
Another beautiful video. The top you are wearing is stunning. The icy colours are so elegant. The snowy backdrop is absolutely delightful. It is currently in the high 30s *C in on the south east coast of Australia.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful danish quote and your life, we are never too old to learn new things and I believe we learn from our mistakes 😊😊thank you for keeping me company while I crochet a blanket for my great niece 😊😊😊
I had problems remembering the rows for the sophie shawl too... I finally took 6 safety pins and placed them on my chair arm... I moved a pin to the right every time I did a row then I knew when to do the increase/decrease and that worked for me, that kind of visual record to help me continue in the right way if I got up to do something else for awhile...its a super nice pattern and so cozy when done.
People are alway asking me what my favorite color is, and I always answer, I don't have one. I just like to work with color and see how they play together. My grandfather was a printer, I'm a guilter and a knitter, and I took several art classes in school. I've also sold AVON for 24 years, so always surrounded by color. Always playing with color. And now that I'm older, I feel really free to be whomever I am on any certain day. You do the same. Life is too shortto live in a box.
Your comments about making errors remind me. When I became a daily knitter via the internet ~2004, my goal was to learn a new skill/technique with every project. In 15 +/- years of doing that, I tried lots of things and decided I love yarn: variety color, texture. Choosing simple patterns and letting the yarn show off has become my present goal. My F2F knitting friends are the most important reward, and each FO becomes a gift to a knitworthy friend or family member. BTW your setting is so beautiful! xxx
I just love your podcasts. They are so relaxing and pleasing to watch. Your snow looks so lovely, and I didn’t realize you get as much snow as we do in Alberta. I love your sweater you were wearing. The accessories you made were perfect for your weather and look stunning with your coats. The white cardigan with the black flowers, is beautiful. The lavender is just lovely and will so good. I do love the greys to, and will make a grey cowl. Your quotes are very good. I will check out Michael Singer. All your knitting is beautiful you are so experienced. I am finishing up a very simple shirt it the Green Tee by Lone Kjeldsen who I think is Danish. This is my first shirt. A friend of mine went to Finland in June, and brought me back a few skeins of yarn( different colors). I will make hats, for charity. Hats I can make no problem, they are much easier than sweaters.
Thank you for your podcast today, and for sharing both your knits, thoughts and the wonderful snowy scene and the crunch of your boots in the snow. Keep using whatever colour yarn you fancy !!
What a beautiful snowy setting for this podcast. 🩵🤍🩵 such a powerful quote today. Thank you. You will look lovely in the lavender sweater 💜 i hope to have my son’s Icelandic riddari blocked in time for the end of the knit along. happy new year!!
Hello, I like your videos and they have already given me some knitting ideas. I'm currently knitting the Sunday Sweater with Drops Air. I think the lavender colored wool is great, I like this color! - Knitting the Gujo Collar out of this color is an idea🤔, I think this collar is really great; thanks for the idea for this! Many greetings and a nice weekend from Germany 🙋♀️. Until the next video.
You rock the neutrals helle ❤ and light colors too and I loved your words on the wish to something different or choosing a different palette 🎨 and I like that. Very beautiful proyects and I do want to dip my toes in more neutrals. Also love to know more of your background
This is a fabulous podcast, finding out more about you and your interesting life is very enjoyable. You have so many talents! When I've caught up with all the knitting podcasts I am going to move on to your ones on travel and your Life in Denmark. I'm really looking forward to all of those.
The ambiance and beauty of your surroundings is worthy of striving for 😊 ❄ thank you for sharing more of your history with us You bring A dynamic that is important for growth ✨
It's great to see how you are encouraging your viewers to use Nordic patterns and yarns! Hopefully many of them will enjoy the patterns made by our very talented designers ☺ I've been struggling a lot with my second degree and felt like I'm way too old to study again - I'm only 33 years old lol. It was inspirational to hear about the path you have taken and it's also comforting to see other people making bold moves and doing stuff which they find interesting and joyful. Thanks for sharing this with us
I love the sweater w/ the different dye lot yarn---who cares the color is a little different? It's hand-made; unique and individual. I LOVE the yarn of the sweater you are wearing! Just lovely.
I loved your episode today. It was so beautifully winter and Christmasy. I loved the lighting,(you need never apologize). The icey backround and the sweater you were wearing was all beautiful and so Scandinavian. I finished a hat for the homeless watching you today and if you had talked all day I would have started a new one and just kept knitting. I could listen to you all day. Thank you again for the quotes, your thoughts and your book recommendations. I hope you are feeling better. Merry Holidays.
Deal Helle, your Danish quote completely got me - how simple yet so true! Thank you for your lovely podcasts, I enjoy every single one of them. Greetings from the snowy south of Germany
What a beautiful background! I am so jealous as it is 81 degrees in San Diego as I am watching you. As for shawls, DRK has a lot of shawls, brioche, and colorwork, my favorites that I have knit are, Marley, Inclination, Attune, Satellite, Briochealicious, The Feel Good, Range and Ramble, As Isabell Kraemer has lovely shawl patterns that I can highly recommend. Rosa, Vaike, SSP, Kyler, Gryer, just to name a few, Hope this gives you some inspiration for knitting more shawls, currently, I am knitting on the Sook moon, sweater, thank you for the beautiful video!
Love your videos! Someone in the comments mentioned that you are a light in our knitting community and I have to agree. When you mentioned your extra yarn left over a matching hat or beret came to mind, perhaps that may interest you. Enjoy every day!💫
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful thoughts and projects. As an expat in Denmark and a person with linguistic background - everything you said about language learning, pushing oneself out of their comfort zone, and not feeling shameful about mistakes resonates with me so deeply. I love knitting because I can be most generous to myself with making mistakes; I even love them, as I think they are what makes knitted project one and only (in a way.) Listening to you, I really hope I can be more generous about me making mistakes in Danish and weaving into a new society as an adult. It would be great if I can be as easygoing as I am with lost stitches with awkward “hvad siger du?”s. 🙈 Well you reminded that the process of learning never stops for those who try. And that to me was a big consolation. 🤍 Also - I love listening to your podcasts. Not to mention the content, you also have a beautiful and calming voice! I live in copenhagen but would love to try your yoga class when I visit odense next time :)
Thanks for such a lovely podcast episode. I'd love to see a roundup video of your favorite yarns, especially as someone who is sensitive to itch. Hope you had a great new year.
Thank you for your lovely podcast. I think I have finally caught up on all your podcasts and feel that now I can respond. I appreciate your calm style, your quote choices and seeing the beautiful garments you knit. Best wishes to you during this season of Advent.
Haha, the old woman from Lönneberga we call Kröser Maya in german. What a character, lol. 🙂 I love all of Astrid Lindgren`s books and the films they made in the seventies. Wonderful. Hope you feel better soon. Lovely knits and projects as always. Love the snowy garden paradise and the light in your house. It is so uplifting. Huggs from Schurwald Forest, Germany. 🥰
Honestly GORGEOUS! Your talent is mind-blowing. So envious. Love your vids. Your daughters are lucky for many reasons🌸 I hope they are learning this amazing art-form.
Thank you very much for the beautiful podcast. I always wait for your next video and they are never disappointed. I hope you feel much better by now. Have a very Merry Christmas.
I just found you and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to learn from you and getting to see Nice! I worked my way back to your October video where you presented your Weekender finished project. I LOVE it! I would call it serendipity. In fact in future projects where it would enhance the finished object I'm planning on using two different dye lots. It has added such subtlety that it is easily missed. Blessedly it has been composed in color blocks so it looks completely designed. I love it, thank you for showing it to us.
Your podcast is just the best, it was so soothing to watch with the snowy background. About the danish designers, let's be honest we all are obsessed with them! I know I started knittig when I discovered Petite Knit and realized that you could knit modern and minimal pieces 😂
Enjoying your podcast so much. So many interesting topics. I look forward to checking out your recommendations. I’m very intrigued in the Nordic knitting designs❤
Another beautiful and interesting podcast! I love hearing about the yarns you are trying, your color choices and of course what you are watching and listening to. Thank you so much!
Thank you for another beautiful episode. I really liked what you said about learning and perfectionism and making mistakes. I’ve always been a very impatient person, and if I couldn’t do something perfectly right away, I didn’t want to do it at all. Very limiting. Knitting brought a completely different mindset for me; I learned patience and that even though mistakes can be frustrating, I have learned from every single one, and I keep wanting to learn more. Gabor Mate is excellent; I somehow discovered him a few years ago when I was going through a very bad spell of depression for a few months to where I had to take leave from work. He was like a balm for the soul and helped me immensely. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
I do enjoy your podcasts. Thank you. Gabor Mate.... I read his book about when the body says no many years ago and it was definitely a total eye opener for me. It explained so many things. I think I will have to revisit his work. Thank you for the nudge. But, about knitting - hahahah - you are a beautiful knitter and the patterns you make are not ones that I generally come across or would think about until I see your versions. Wow!
wonderful FOs :) I also knit the Sophie scarf and what I did to keep track of the increases was to put a stitch marker in the row I had done the last one... that way it becomes absolutely mindless :)
Oh!!!! The Untethered Soul was a book that literally changed my life in an enormously impactful way. I read it about 5 or 6 years ago and was never the same person since then. Then I dove into Deepak Chopra and continued the journey. I have since found so many more places and resources to explore consciousness and our place in the Universe. It’s such a deeply fulfilling journey. I’m thrilled that you have also found this book. Peace. 🪷
I love your podcasts. Your knitting is exquisite as well as your choice of patterns. I am always looking for your next podcast. Your knitting is inspirational but also your quotes. I am old now (78) but you make me think about improving myself, my outlook and my day to day living life. Maybe there is time for getting out of this rut I seem to live in. Thanks so much.
You might have enough of the light blue from the sweater you’re wearing in the beginning of this video , to make a small version of the Sophie scarf..worn as an ascot... I’m on my 2nd one, so simple and a quick knit. You’re a beautiful soul, and I loved the sweater with hot pink color work on you ! It was delightful ❤🧶💫. Love and Light to you and everyone ☮️☀️❄️
Hello Helle, i just found your podcast and it is great! thank you for your inspiration and insights.....and of course your beautiful projects! What a great way to start the new year. Thank you
I'm new and have been enjoying catching up on back episodes of your podcast and getting so much out of them. Given your esthetic and type of knitting you like, I thought you'd enjoy the Flaum by Justyna Lorkowska, I made it for my mom and it's an interesting construction and lovely finished garment. One of the nicest things I've knit to date. Another of my fav podcast is Little Big Knits out of Ottawa and I think you'd enjoy that too. Happy Holidays and all the best from Canada!
I like to collect quotes as well. I love your English translation of the Danish quote. I can't even count the number of times an interaction with a single human being changed the course of a day. I also really love grey.
Loved seeing you again along with your knits. It was nice to listen to your soothing voice and the scenery around you is spectacular. As the Amish in the states say, “No one is perfect except God”.
Thank you for your podcast, it's so interesting and there is a nice atmosphere in all your videos. You have already given me a lot of good ideas and tips, I love it! Have a nice Christmas and end of the year! R
I enjoy your podcast. I believe you should keep learning all through you life. It is good for brain health. In my mid 60's, I have taken up the oboe, designed and set up livestreaming for my church, and learned to direct a choir. Knitting has kept my brain active but I never want to stop learning to do new things. I come from Norwegian heritage and love the simplicity of some patterns and yet love all the Scandinavian colorwork, too.
Another beautiful episode. As a person who resides in the central coast of Cali I totally appreciate the snowy backdrop and the knitting is pretty outstanding too. ♥️thank you for sharing with us. 😊
I just found your podcast and am thoroughly enjoying it! I appreciate your assessments of yarns in terms of your sensitivity as I have the same issue. I discovered an undergarment called The Sweater Slip and it has been a lifesaver for me. As a bonus, it acts as a barrier so your knits stay clean longer. I get the lovely warmth of wool but no itch. Anyway, least I can do is offer a suggestion in return for all your lovely content!
Hi,just came across your podcast.Loved it.I also made the Sophie scarf and got in a muddle with the increases and I love the cord. Glad I wasn't the only one.
Thank you so much for sharing. I got so much inspiration from this, and Im now a fan :). On my wish list for 2024 is blouse no.1, Gujo collar and of course Nola. Wish you a GODT NYTT ÅR from Norway
Another beautiful, peaceful and inspiring podcast, thank you Helle! I find I always love your versions of things… 🤔, be they simplistic or more involved. I just enjoy seeing how you do things and talk about them. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for the comforting chat -on so many levels. As one who needs to slow down, I truly enjoy your thoughtful, deliberate approach to knitting and your inspirational. messages. I listened and watched as I came to a successful solution to a problem with my knitting, with the invaluable assistance of the book “Patty Lyons Knitting Bag of Tricks.”
