Dear friends, near and far,
I'm finally ready with a new knitting episode, and after hours of editing, I have already found things I have forgotten. Well. It seems to be the default occurrence, so I hope you will add a comment and ask me (if I can answer it) or check Ravelry if it's something that I might have added there. I am very happy with the knits that I share with you in this episode and hope that you will enjoy it. Thank you for choosing me as your knitting (or crocheting, laundry folding, or dish washing - you name it) companion. All the best, Helle.

When my mother was approaching 80 she told me if she didn’t ever look into a mirror, or if her feet didn’t hurt so much, she would think she was still a young woman.

Thank you for your lovely podcasts. They are very enjoyable and relaxing for me, and I also love the beautiful outdoor scenes. The quotation about the young girl inside is especially touching. At almost 94, I can say that the young girl is still very much alive, still inquiring and learning and loving all that the universe has to offer. And sometimes she's quite mischievous. She reminds me every day that life is good. And if I should dare ask, Why bother learning this new language or that new recipe or technique, she says, "Why not?" Why not, indeed!

I live alone at 67 years old in the south of Chile in a place similar to yours. This place has invited me to reflection and inner growth. A world of knowledge and understanding has opened up to me that has enriched my life. I have enjoyed every word of yours, (when my English allows it) every meaning and I realized how wonderful education is that allows us to access other levels of understanding, sensory enjoyment and therefore other levels of experience. What a shame that so many billions of people do not have access to this experience. I have felt privileged to be able to dance to the rhythm of your reflective dance. I also have enjoyed your work. You have such a good taste. For sure I will try one of them.

I will soon be 79, but that is just a number, not who I am. I look in the mirror and I see an older woman, but I look inside of me and I am young, full of excitement for the next fun project. So excited about all the yarn and all the possibilities. One should never gauge who they are by the number of years they have passed, but by the prospect of so many more years to do all the fun new projects. I knit for family mostly, leaving each person with pieces of me knitted into fabric that will continue to give them each the hugs and love that I gave when I was thinking about that one person. So that when I do leave this earth, each person still has the feeling of my love and the hugs knitted into that project just for them. I will never leave them, alway be by their side, holding a hand, giving a hug.

Hi Helle, I simply "throw" my shawls in a box (together with the hats, mitts and so on) and don't fold them at all. This is both an easy and effective solution, since they don't get any folding lines that way. Also, I really liked the part of this episode when you said that you cannot grow when you are inside of your comfort zone. So true!

Hello Helle, It's lovely to see you again for knitting talk. I enjoy every moment of listening to your podcasts and seeing your beautiful knits. You are a very talented lady and I admire your determination with that sweater, I would have given up long since. I love the title of the poetry book. I will check to see if it is translated to English but I somehow doubt it. The Javelin shawl is gorgeous and you style it perfectly! I agree about looking for tutorials when something doesn't make sense. RU-vid is my friend....google too. The greyness in England equals that of Denmark, I long for blue sky and warmer days, though I am just glad when it isn't raining as we've had so much wet weather. There are some signs of blossom on the trees and garden flowers blooming. My little pasque flowers that come up every year are in bud and one or two have opened. It's always a delight to see them, a moment of joy for me. Take care.

Over the last few years I have pushed outside both my knitting and crochet comfort zones and have learned so many new and valuable techniques that were not in existence when I first began knitting at the tender age of 5 years old. A huge break in my crafting meant that I was confronted with top down and bottom up sweaters. Where had all the flat pieces gone?! Were all my old and much loved straight knitting needles redundant too? I carried on regardless and am delighted to report that I am happy to attempt anything that piques my interest. I made my first pair of socks in December - a new passion - and I have completed 14 pairs so far. My partner is so thrilled that he tells all his friends that he has hand knit socks! Ravelry and fabulous podcasts like your own have expanded my horizons and spurred me on to greater heights and to an even bigger yarn stash (collection!) I am working my way through my projects, old and new, have frogged and re knit out of date unfinished items, fearlessly conducted yarn surgery and completed lovely wearables and gifts for myself, family and friends. At the tender age of 70, my inner child is ever present, looking at things in wonder and excitement. What a joy it all is. Love and gratitude for your uplifting, often thought provoking and philosophical podcasts. You are a blessing to this knitting community and to the world. Linda, UK 💕🧶💕

Hello lovely, I have typed this message once already but somehow it got erased. I visited a yarn shop here in Australia yesterday, a rarity for me as there are none close by and I work full time. They happened to have La Bien Aimee and I just had to buy the colour Winterfell once I saw it, as it was just such a beautiful colour, so you could imagine my surprise when I saw you had also used it for your Javelin shawl, which looks absolutely amazing. Thank you for another beautiful podcast, I love all that you knit and the colours you use, you are a beautiful knitter 💖

Dear Helle, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful episode. The book "Within me lives a young girl, that won't die" is such a wonderful gesture of appreciation and gratitude to you. I am so happy that there are people who practice such gestures and obviously it has touched not only you but also me deeply. And I think when I write and speak about it, it will touch others and generate thoughts and inspirations that make us more aware that we never know how what we do today might inspire other. I am grateful that you share so many qualities of yourself in your videos. Besides knitting, which by the way appeals to and inspires me greatly, your experiences, thoughts, and your feminine wisdom are a source for me that I don't want to lose. I become aware of how much I carry within me, but have never seen it as valuable to share with others. However, through your example, I am also working on ideas of how I can become an inspiration for those around me. So, I thank you again so much for all your contributions and feel very embraced by me. I wish you a wonderful spring and see you soon. Isabella from Frankfurt

Dear Helle, I truly enjoy your video podcasts and save watching them for a time when I will not be interrupted. Your Javelin Shawl is stunning. The colours of the yarn combined with the pattern stitches are perfection. Showing us the play of colours outdoors made such a difference! As another viewer mentioned above, rolling one’s shawls does prevent fold lines from developing. You could also try rolling the shawl on a paper towel tube or similar. Then it’s easier to tuck the shawl behind other knits neatly. We are still on the cusp of Spring here in Nova Scotia. Here and there we get a day with strong sun and everything becomes possible again. Maybe time for summer knits soon. Kim

Thank you for such a lovely podcast. I love the Pegona shawl from Stephen West for merino/silk/yak yarn. I've made 2 for gifts. The pattern is pretty easy after a couple of the set up rows. The drape & feel of the fabric is exceptional. It is perfect for late spring, cool summer evenings & fall.... porch knitting, firepit chats or a lovely shawl for those restaurant visits that have too much AC. I've just ordered yarn for my own shawl! Happy knitting.

I am sure that you know this, but if you don't want your garment to smell, of vinegar, you can use citric acid. I bought some yarn recently, almost the same blue colour as yours, and it was dying my hands blue as i worked with it. It's soaking in citric acid as i type, after holding it under running until the water ran clear. There is no colour in the soaking water at all. I also re-skeined my leftovers and did the same with that too. So next time i knit, i should have clean hands😂

The two shades of pink give your sweater more depth and dimension than the one color would have. It's lovely. Good choice.

Even though I just got some very cool butter yellow color which is on brand for spring, this made me revisit my queue for the many slipovers that are there, your slipovers are so detailed and in such wonderful colors.

Not to worry - everyone on the planet talks 'the weather'. I think that is a critical part of our collective DNA. And living as I do on the opposite side of the planet on Vancouver Island it's interesting to hear what the locals think about the season changes in other parts of our Big Momma. Enjoy your show...

I agree, weather is a key way we humans make sense of the world for our survival. I’m in NW WA just across from Vancouver Island-we could “talk gray.” 😂😂😂

Very beautiful jumpers again. You are a very talented knitter. When I saw that beautiful greyish/brown yarn, you were gifted, I thought of a vest. Maybe one with a v-neck, but oversized. I could picture that on you very well. Maybe a half fishermens rib pattern, since you said, you were done with cables for a while; lol. Huggs from Fairy Tale Cottage, Schurwald Forest, Germany. 💗

Thank you for another inspiring podcast. I keep seeing the Eurus slipover in my Instagram feed, but was intimated by the side construction. It might be on my shortlist of projects for late summer knitting. That red/pink Bien Aimée yarn is gorgeous!!!

Wonderful as always Helle 🥰 Great job on the sweater surgery! Love the shawl and you wore it well. I went through a midlife crisis at the age of 21 and yoga and meditation helped. My doctor said to me you’re a bit early for this existential crisis, but I’ve never followed the rules 🤣🙃 I feel like I’m 22, all the best parts of 22, a curious inquisitive nature, joyful playfulness and sheer wonder at life itself. Life, at times, has been incredibly challenging and as this 22 year old part of me started to grow old and cynical I made sure to always resuscitate it. I take care of my body and leave my glasses off when I look in the mirror 🎉 so I continue to feel 22!! Thank you for all the joy, it’s greatly appreciated, Karen 🥰

I tend to knit my sweaters too big always being afraid the end result will be too small. I'm taking a class in making sweaters that fit and your thoughts on combining more than one size is precisely what I plan to do for my class sweater. Thank you so much for your patient, gentle approach not only to knitting, but to literature and to life. You are truly a gem.

Hi, I have a suggestion of how to store your shawls. I roll them like a jellyroll and stack them that way in your closet. This works really well for me.

Hi Helle, As always, I enjoyed your podcast!! Glimpses of nature, your thoughts, to your knitting. Quite calming and relaxing. 😊 I love your Eurus slip over. I hope to knit that good some day. Your shawl is beautiful! I would think if you simply rolled it to store, it wouldn't get creases in it. Also. Just wanted to say that your hair looks so lovely. 😊
