As mentioned by another viewer, I also love the fact that you take time to show the sketching stage as it helps me understand techniques like perspective. I don't find I learn as much when the artist starts video with the picture already drawn. Thank you for all your video's. So nice that you give so many demo's for free. Much appreciated.
It's so good to sit, relax and watch a painting take shape in real time -loads of tips and techniques and beautiful result. Your book looks very promising too.
I like your videos because you actually show the drawing step before painting. Most others will not do so, possibly because they trace an image rather than draw(?) But thank you for doing so! You're one of my favorite artists and teachers!
I am so happy I have found your channel you are an amazing teacher and I never painted with watercolor but you inspired me and I am painting more than before for that I thank you 🙏🏻
Chrles thank you so much. I have mucked around with watercolors after retiring 2 years ago and at best maybe 2 out of 5 paintings would turn out half way decent. I followed you thru this painting and it turned out better than any I have done. Plus your sense of humor and down to earth attitude made me laugh and I actually enjoyed it and learned more today as compared to the last two years. Thanks Charkes....subscriber for life!!!!! P S. My wife was even impressed
I ordered your little pocket book from during the first lockdown the book has helped me greatly improve with my paintings. I also enjoy all your videos with helpful tips thankyou Charles.
Superb. Excellent commentary. Repeat, repeat, repeat in the nicest possible way so that I have it all going through my head. Thank you. I will order the book and look forward to the next video. Smashing stuff.
Thank you so much, Mr Evans. We may be of the same age, but I started watercolor a couple of months ago, so I watch and learn. I love using the earth colors, but I missed to buy raw sienna. I was more used to yellow ochre, from many years ago when I made my own egg-oil temperas. They were quite close and similar, then, but now I see why so many use the raw sienna instead. Thank you especially for showing the glazing over the water reflections. So good! I also got in love with your palette. That patina could go for a million at Sotheby's. ;)
Thank you so much!! Just found your channel and am really enjoying your teaching and painting techniques!! I just purchased two of your books. I have been doing watercolor for a couple of years and enjoy the learning process and creating something for the eye with just a few brush strokes!! :0)
I haven’t been painting very long and so far, I’m only painting along with tutorials. I must say, that among those I have painted with, you are definitely a favorite! I’m so glad to have found you! Thank you, and please post many more tutorials! I have learned a lot from you, and appreciate the simplicity in which you paint (you make it easy!)
C- found your channel by accident - love it and your style (obvious talent) - spent quite a few hours watching beautiful painting.. (an artist from Geordieland in Atlanta)

Guys, this is the sweetest Artist ever !! You can leave a comment and he actually answers you back ! So , me being here in the USA, I decided to find out a little more about this fantastic, sweet Artist with the English accent ! OMG, I feel like a total idiot ! He is the Bob Ross of the UK!!! Let's learn all we can from him !!!
Thanks Charles for your enjoyable video inspiring and calmly explains how you achieve amazing detail depth and colour, you're truly an inspirational artist. Greatly appreciated stay safe and healthy
I love you! I used to do acrylics, but have recently decided to stick with watercolors. Your style of painting is similar to my own, but I haven't been sketching outdoors much in the past several years. You have encouraged me to get back out to the river with my watercolor pencils. Thank you so much.
Thanks again Charles and Gail, thank you for all the time you spend making these videos for us. And another great finished painting. All the best. Laurence Picton.
Lovely! You are such a good teacher!!! I appreciate you showing how to draw it . Your funny and made this video very interesting. Thanks for everything. Anxious to paint this
Hi Charles. Peter from Noosa Australia. Just watched your latest painting. Enjoyed it so much .just. A quick note to let you and all the gang know t hat I am currently in outback Queensland, currently at Longreach. The country here is sooo green and lush after the floods. Wonderful paintings. Thanks for the painting, please keep them coming. Peter
Looking for some help to start watercolour painting and I’ve watched a few artists to help me in my new hobby. Fortunately, I’ve just found Charlie Evans (he’ll probably say “I didn’t know I was lost”), watched a few of his videos and I’m not looking any further! Truly inspirational, interesting subjects with humorous commentary and excellent camerawork to boot! It’s beautiful to watch and re-watch a master enjoying his craft as I try and practice the techniques. I so wish I had an Art teacher like Charlie at school. Sincere thanks Charlie Evans.
I live in Middlewich near to Lach Dennis...... I wish I have been fortunate enough to have attended your classes. I really love your work and will definitely have a go at this one. Regards from Cheshire.
Thanks Charles for another great painting I love watching you paint and it's great how you draw it for everyone first,it's fantastic, love it,thanks Gail too,
Amazing as always,,, had the privilege of watching you paint at the NEC, got two of your paintings hanging on our wall,,, you gave me the brush you painted one of the skies with,, I still use it but, definitely not with the same skill and genius,,,,
Just bought your brushes paints and paper, so off I go. Finding it hard to master the cloud technique, but hey, early days. Really pleased with all my purchases from you, top quality stuff. Just the dipstick trying to use them I suppose, but I have to say I'm enjoying it. Thanks for your videos. Cheers from Brissol
This is awesome.. beautiful.. specially the sky and cloud effect.. I really enjoyed every bit.. thanks for teaching me the grass effects with nails and how to make clouds and sky look so realistic 🙏
Great picture again, Mr Evans. Actually, you've got the easy job.....Gail does a fantastic job catching all the details as you slap the paint on....oh, and laughing at your jokes, too! lol. Thank you both.
Another good un Charlie and Gail. Rubbish weather in South Wales today, so I'm enjoying your 'bumpy bottom' instead of going for a walk. Many thanks as always. Take care both.
So lovely. Can I get your books in the US? I am in my 60s and an absolute beginner to all art and love watching you. Could use all the help I can get. Would love having a book with instructions. Thank you for all you give us....
Me and my two daughters started watercolours at Christmas and bought a few beginners books, one of them is the ready to paint in 30 minutes boats and harbours one by Charles, and when we sit down together to paint we always end up arguing who gets that one, we like it the most of the books we bought. So that one really is worth buying. And the pocket book! Both absolute must haves.
Another nice piece of work Charles, plus wonderful to paint and with your good explanation it is great to do Please keep going with your beautiful and well explained movies i love it to paint together with you in this way 😉👍
Thank you, Charles! I've been using watercolor pencils to practice and just got my delivery today of watercolor paints and paper. I am excited to start! Your videos are such a joy to watch and so helpful. Gotta say your "technical terms" are the best...and I just love your "digital art" thrown in here and there. :) I'm SO glad I found your channel!
Hello again from South Africa, beautiful painting as always, but you never painted the roofs of the two small buildings on the right.....gail you never told him.......thank you....take care and wishing you both a blessed Easter
Lovely painting! I was born and raised in Mid Cheshire and we pronounce Lach as Latch. You may know me as one of the Patchings camera guys. Hope to see you in 2020.
Another lovely painting 👍 I watched your causeway to Holy island video yesterday, I'm going to be busy this weekend. Love the nice big sketchbooks, going to check them out now. Thank you for taking the time out to do these, much appreciated 😊
@@charlesevans7706 just tried to put an order in, no PayPal account and I couldn't find how to pay with my card. I'll wait till someone with a brain comes and shows me how to do it. 🤪
hi charles i wanted to ask if you could do a video on how to do one of the water colour pencil drawings in your sketchbook because they look so beautiful.
Always so patiently explained, colours and all. Result is always beautiful. I did end up buying the brushes and the colours. Love them except for the burnt sienna which has a oily texture funny texture and hardly blends.
@@charlesevans7706 thank you for replying . Must be a fluke. It wasn't burnt sienna but the burnt umber which had the funny texture. My mistake. But I love all your videos sir. Me being from a remote place in India have to depend on Amazon for the supplies. Sincere regards.
stunning !!! i just came across your channel .. i luv your sketchbook ! beautiful work!!! looking forward to learning more from watching more. are you using a match stick to sketch ?
I've always wondered about the use of walls in the UK vs fences. They are so lovely and fit into the natural lay of the land so much nicer. I assumed it was due to a lack of timber which seemed the most logical reasoning, but here in the US you just don't see walls used with such consistency regardless of the location, everything is wire or wood.
This is such a beautiful scene Charles, so serene and the way you have rendered the colours makes for a very interesting painting full of warmth and harmony. What brand of water colour paints do you use to achieve this level of brilliance?
I love the light in this one, Charlie that Cheshire sandstone just glows. Beautiful. I had to pause it a couple of times to rush downstairs to stop Bo, the setter, barking.... then I realised it was Frank and Bert!! :) :))
@@charlesevans7706 Hi Charlie, I am so blown away with this picture that I'm making my own [slightly different] version of it as a demo for my students. Would you have any objection to my uploading my video to my You Tube channel? I would give you full credit, of course.
