Very nice! I love watercolour pencils. Now here is a tip for all the lazy people who aren''t artists like you: I take a photograph of my favorite subject, crop it, convert it to black and white and tweek it in post till I can barely see the outlines. I then print it out on watercolour paper with my b/w laser printer (toner is waterreistant) and then I colour it with water colour pencils. Perhaps not art (if photography isn't an art) but amazing results. I get the best results when using a camera that is converted to infrared (it turns all greenery into white), but have done this process before I had this camera.

Very nice! When drawing on the go with water colour pencils, I use a water brush. Of course only in a sketchbook up to A4 size. Pentel's are the best, and if you have a syringe (without a cannula, of course), you can simply refill them from your water bottle. As I can blend the colours I only need a few pencils, and my whole equipment fits into a pocket.
Hi Gail and Charles. Hope you're doing well. I just received your "Over 100 essential tips to improve your painting", and I love it. Thanks to Gail and you. I have adopted Hooker's Green like you suggest in your book. It's working well, and it is versatile enough from landscapes to seascapes. I've watched the same videos over and over again. You make it look so easy. And your small pencil drawings are surprisingly good on the first pass. Cheers to you both from San Diego California.

Hi Charles and Gail. Another lovely painting. I just purchased your 100 tips for watercolor, can't wait to receive. I have adjusted my palette to be like yours, including Hooker's Green. I see that you had the same palette 10 years ago as you do now. That says something about the choices of colors. I have 2 more colors in mine: Winsor Newton Transparent Yellow (PY150) and WN Intense Blue (PB15). Gives me a bit more range. I hope they don't conflict with the other colors. Cheers to you both!!!!
You are very talented. Always great to see the painting develop. On a personal note, I prefer it when you use the paint thicker, rather than using a lot of water to great washes like you do in your watercolour painting. Perhaps your next Acrylic painting could be in that style? Great how you great the sky and cloud effect in that style.
Love this demo and how spontaneous you are doing it. Can’t help chuckling when you so matter of factly wipe the pencils against your shirt sleeve! Will have it a go at this! 😊
