When we detected this and uncovered it, we knew it was a badge but couldn't quite make out what it said on it properly. When we got it home we could clearly see the name AMY and one side of the name was a map of Britain and on the other side was a map of Australia. We realised then that it was something to do with Amy Johnson. This got me researching and I would like to share it with you. ‪@xpmetaldetector‬ ‪@allterrainwheelchairs6875‬ ‪@MagicMobility‬ ‪@britishaviationgroup2167‬

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. She was very brave as were all the ATA personnel, flying planes from A to B, using landmarks/maps to navigate with no guns to engage if they were attacked and many different types of planes.! I just thought it needed sharing, and I love the little badge, one of my favourite finds so far! All the best from Jon and Wendy 🙂

There has been too much of Amelia Earhart on the news lately, But its great to hear about a wonderful British Heroine, Thankyou for sharing your lovely find.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I suppose because Amelia's plane has been found, it has thrust her and her story back into the media. But I agree, nice to share the story of a British Heroine, and I am pleased you enjoyed it. All the best Jon and Wendy 🙂

I was born and brought up in Hull. I only knew part of her story. Her statue is, I believe, on Ferensway. I now live in Canada, and this is the first time that I have heard the full story.

Glad you enjoyed the video, and we didn't mention it but there was some information from a sailors descendant that said that she was in the water alive with her parachute and she got swept under the rescue boat and into the ships propellor and never seen again. So that may explain why the whole incident was hushed up. We may never know the true story. All the best Wendy and Jon

Sorry You Tube seems to have reduced the broadcast volume starting about 3 days ago! My Win 11 is at max volume, sound still too low. Between that and your charming but harder to understand accent (to an American) i mostly caught the jist by way of the pictures. Glad you found a badge medal from Amy Johnson! I'll look up more about her never having heard of her. Congrats Disabled Metal Detecting and Rambling Adventures. I have a phys disability of chronic pain, from currently 5 chronic soft tissue injuries. I can do lots of stuff, but only for a short time / short number of reps.

It does seem a bit quiet, but glad you managed to decipher what I was saying. I wouldn't have described my accent as charming, I hate listening to my own voice lol, but thank you. Yes, Jon can only do things for a short while and very limited reps too. Thank you for watching and commenting all the best from Jon and Wendy 🙂

It's good to know what it is and who made it but I wonder who bought it and how did it get to where it was found. I have the tail fin from an intact WW2 incendiary bomb that we found in the loft space of my parents home. I often wonder how many hands it went through from manufacture to delivery.

Hi, yes I often wonder the same too. We think that particular field has been used for sledging, it is the perfect incline - maybe it was lost then. We too have some strange objects - like your bomb tail fin - strange what people collect and keep. All the best from Jon and Wendy 🙂

Hello Jon. I noticed that you subbed to my channel recently, and I just completed a project that I think you might benefit from. I made a slide hammer style shovel for another gentlemen who uses a wheel chair detecting. This allows you to dig plugs with a detecting shovel using 2 hands while still being upright in your chair. I do not sell these things, and I do not know anyone currently who is. But a competent welder should be able to fabricate one for you once seeing the design. I stuck the finished one on my community tab, but have a couple more detailed shots on my fb group. Again this isn't some kind of solicitation, just trying to perpetuate the idea so more folks can benefit from it. take care and happy hunting

Hi, what a fantastic idea to get the shovel into the ground. I have watched a chap in the US detecting from his wheelchair and he manages to bend right down and get to the target. Unfortunately because of my disability my back is affected and there is no way I can bend that far, I wish I could. This in no way detracts from your excellent idea and for those people that have got the necessary movement it is perfect. I suppose I could then use a grabbing stick to find the target, but I think I would struggle and get incredibly frustrated because sometimes as you will know yourself, the target can be very elusive. Thank you so much for suggesting the idea and all the best from Wendy and Jon in England.

Thanks - I corrected the apostrophe - it's making more sense now - she flew on when military service was due - her sister's daughter knows how to use a r ope after 2 doctorates her father left her £100K to visit India 🇮🇳 in 2022 - she'll never see it nor will his brother or her uncle nor will 50,000 more British

Apparently she was not a good pilot, crashed her first attempt on take off, then after months of repairs her original navigator refused to fly with her.
