I bought this PSU years ago and I never even opened the box. Now I need to do a surgery, and to afford that I sold my high-end PC. PLUS I gotta travel a lot now so I need to carry a PC with me. This is when this lil baby shines! I build a Ryzen 5 3400G on a motherboard with 4 pins connectors, just for basic stuff and some simple gaming. A very minimalistic PC build. Im so glad I kept this PSU for years in my closet and now Im even happier to see that they put panasonic caps on it!

I remember they topped the quality rankings even a decade ago. No flash, just quality.

About 25 years ago I gave up on cheap power supplies, just had premature failures and annoying crashes etc. Since I started using high quality Power supplies have not had any issues since.

Great review! I absolutely love Seasonic, I've been using them for years for my small part time business. I have had zero issues. I'm glad to see they they are the real deal.

13:16 I had an OCZ power supply burn up and fill my dorm with smoke, that was fun. I mainly go Corsair now (Seasonic Manufacturers some of Corsair's PSU's)

You were the only one in the world who showed this source in detail. This afternoon here in Brazil I bought this font with some time of use and turning the source on a simple computer, in a few minutes realized that the fan did not spin and went to search on youtube. Now at the end of your video I realized that I bought a source of 40 reais ($ 13 Canadian) with great quality. Congratulations to you, it was a very clever explanation and easy to understand, I am grateful for the content. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE AN ADAPTATION OF A 6/8 PIN CABLE FOR THIS SOURCE BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE TO USE A GTX 960 OR IF POSSIBLE A GTX 970. tnks BYE! =D

I wonder what OCZ you speak of, they actually had their supplies made by numerous OEMs. I think the biggest one was Sirtec, and those likely weren't good. The second biggest ones would be FSP, and while those usually look quite sloppily made, they should actually be quite good, at least in the sense that when they fail, they fail safely, and when they don't fail, they're reasonably well behaved. The only big batch of FSP failures that i know of hit bequiet and the issue was in the fan controller, but then the OTP disabled the supply. The third biggest would be GreatWall and i remember their older units as being borderline dangerous, and the newer ones looked good on initial testing, but didn't look like they would easily make it past 5 year mark.

Hey give superflower psu's a try there made in japan and are very famous there ,also i have heard of FSP being very good made in Germany.

SF is a Taiwanese company. Like the most of them they produce their stuff in China (not in Japan). As for FSP, the same here.

I heard Corsair power supplies are good, what's your thoughts on them too? Also when you going to do another pfSense video, it's long overdue? Last video was 2 months :(

Based on my anecdotal experience - I have a corsair CXM 500W, and after leaving it on basically 24/7 for >1y it now makes a rattling sound if I accidentally nudge the case. I have bought a seasonic on the strength of this video and hopefully that'll better be able to cope with my heavy usage. Maybe corsair are ok for less full-on usage :)

More anecdotal experience: I bought two Seasonic supplies for two personal servers about 8 years ago. They run 24/7 and are still going strong. I have installed maybe a dozen Seasonic supplies for clients and none have ever gone bad. I just put a Corsair 80+ Gold supply in a clients machine (replacing a failed Antec that lasted 3-4 years) and it died after a month.

Corsair does not make PSUs. Way back in the day, they used SeaSonic as their OEM. This is what gave them their good reputation. Over time, they took on more lower-quality OEMs for most product lines. There are still a couple of models made by SeaSonic, but not very many. You have to be careful to check.

can this power supply handle more current motherboards and processors? like a ryzen 5 2600, that together with my video card, the consumption order is less than 250w. if you can help i thank you.

How to adjust this font in ATX cabinet? In case, those where the source is on the bottom?
@tad2021

OCZ PSUs were awful. Every single one I've bought at work had fail. The last one exploded last month, an 8 pin DIP failed violently. Did an extreme one way teardown of it. The caps were shit-brand but no bloating, though the main filter cap had no discharge resistor. Transformers had decent isolation for the most part, the out output windings were interesting, they were layered copper bands wrapped in the standard Chinese yellow transformer tape instead of coated wire. Had I known about the SATA power connector flaw on adapters, I would dissected those, I think they were molded.

Can you check is it the same chip? I had the chieftec power supply with the blown TNY278N chip. I fixed it with the SMD one tho... Some other semiconductors have died too (MOSFET, some diodes and resistor). Were the caps teapo ones? I made video about classes, and they are 2. class. But 85° caps on the input is really... Cheapish

When I started building pc's again and looking for psu's, I done a search for reviews and the one site I checked was JonnyGuru.com. I made my purchases from their reviews. I mainly get the 80plus gold. Going through the reviews, I purchased an EVGA Supernova G2 and Corsair CX, AXi and RXi as well as Seasonic G series and all are hooked up to AMD pc's, not a single problem. Just saying.

jonnyguru.com is best website for psu recommendations - they check almost all psu's - how they build, how they work, whats inside, what they can do, what tolerances and rate them, im currently having a Seasonic Prime 850w 80+ Titanium psu which was rated as perfect score
