One of the best things about this show is how it tackles toxic masculinity. It shows how trying to uphold yourself to an impossible standard can destroy your mental health and cause you to push ppl away. As well as how trying to live up to a heteronormative society as a gay man when you're expected to have a family and carry on the family name and buisness cause you to go insane. I absolutely adore this show!!!

Amusingly enough, this show has *two* Game of Thrones actors in it. The big guy who put the yellow fabric over his head for...some reason...is the guy who played Hodor, and the guy playing the lute and singing is the guy who played the only nice noble from Mereen.

Our Flag Means Death is really a gem of a show. It totally keeps you guessing as to what happens next. I don't know how to describe the comedy style but I keep laughing. There are little bits of historically accurate elements scattered throughout like real pirate names mentioned, pirate techniques used during attacks, and accurate pirate designs.

I don't think the actual romance starts until halfway thru the season (not gonna say who tho obv bc spoilers :)) but it's _good_ For a comedy show, it definitely doesn't hold back when it wants you to feel things (some scenes made me squeal in joy!!) so very excited to see your reactions moving forward :3

I am ecstatic to see you react to ofmd, it's probably been my favourite show since I saw it as it was coming out, the only competition it has in my mind is good omens, especially after s2. Anyway, some fun facts about this episode: Young Stede is played by Theo Darby and his dad Rhys plays Stede David Jenkins, the creator of the show actually has a cameo in this episode as the British officer who gets tea spilled in his lap and gets tied to the boat towards the end 😅 I'm so excited to see your reactions to the rest of this show 💜🏳️‍🌈🏴‍☠️
