excited to see you reacting to this! glad you're enjoying these earlier episodes. the game definitely changes monumentally in episode 4, but the story building and character moments before that are still really fun and important. favourite line of this episode: 'not all beards are actual beards.' great little early wink to the queer audience, and astounding forshadowing to major themes in the series regarding masculinity and expectations. can't wait to see more!

So glad to see the lack of Izzy hate (at least for now), I'm so tired of it. People for real make the biggest villain out of him when he's just mean and wants the job to be done (which I would be too honestly, considering the circumstances we will see). I feel like a lot of people in the fandom give him "the one who gets in the way of pairing" treatment and only see him as that which makes me incredibly sad (not to mention literal bullying of Izzy fans) Also, fun fact! Piracy was incredibly romantisised even during the Golden Age of it, so it could be one of the reasons why Stede has chosen specifically piracy and not just travelling by sea. Can't wait to see you reacting to episode 4 ^^
