Just for those curious, his family has stated multiple times he never lost ANYONE on that day. And they have 0 ties to anyone that didn’t make it that day. They said he’s not well, that’s why he’s doing this, not because he lost someone.

When I saw the Person Filming Pan up to where he Jumped down from, I was Shocked that he could even Stand, bc like you I Questioned how he didn't Break his Legs or Back... But, If you look at his Face while he's Walking towards that Square Hole where he Lays down, you can see him Wincing in Pain. So, he definitely got Hurt & it was Reported he did Suffer Injuries, but I never heard what Injuries he Sustained. To Fall that far, in Water that appears to be Knee Deep at Best, I'm Shocked he Survived, let alone could Walk to the where he then Laid down. I Hope he got the Help he needs, that was Responsible for him Jumping into the Memorial that Day. I heard he was Arrested, which he didn't need Jail, he needed Inpatient Mental Health Treatment for whatever War was happening in his Mind.

I was going through this horrible phase in my life when I was 17-18 years old. I remember standing face to face with a train but something told me to leave the tracks... It was the thought of my mother and how sad she would be if I were dead. I hated the thought of seeing my mom and sisters crying over me and that's what kept me alive despite how much I hated myself and I also knew God was with me. I'm 23 turning 24 soon and I'm now in a much better and happier Time of my life full of dreams and ambitions!! It always saddens me when you read the comments the attacking of those whom you don't know or attacking a person who has more information, possibly regarding what we're watching. I remember holding my 3 month old daughter that day crying, apologizing for this new ugly world we live in. I called my dad at the police department (gave 27 years of service), and he told me to pack a bag and come "home." We knew one of the pilots, a steward, and an ENTIRE family on those planes. Never mind the countless firefighters who have aide only to succumb to cancer 20 years later. In my opinion, that's sacred ground. When 9/12 came, everyone was kind, nice, helpful, shocked, and a patriot regardless of your religion, sexual preference, race, etc. We were finally "United we Stand." Behind a screen, anyone can pretend to be anything. The ways we communicate online, i think we all need to reread before you hit send. We're all fighting some kind of battle nobody knows about. I've been there a couple times and it is a scary thing, a heavy thing, a beautiful thing and a very painful thing. They did well. The peace felt in that area is one of extreme respect and grief. I believe the memorials structure of a waterfall/deep drain help majorly solidify the healthy flow of feelings for what happened to humanity's trust that day, in that space. And grieve the lives that were so unfairly and brutally taken. It could have been and still could be any one of us. As a country as well.. we have been shot thru the heart twice and have been slowly bleeding out since.

As someone who was enlisted at that time in 2001 (USAF) and had to watch guys who had literally just graduated my high school, leave home to the middle-east (marines and USACE) because of some senseless wars that immediately followed... I think a lot of us lost more than we care to admit that day. None of us ever imagined we would see a war - in my life-time the worst event was Desert Storm and that was trivial (and short lived). When we enlisted our families and recruiters scoffed at the idea of us going to see action. You signed up back then to see the world, pay for collage, and basically learn skills. There hadn't been a real war in almost 30 years, and legitimately it seems impossible to ever see an attack on American soil again from a foreign actor. So (not just as enlistees, but) as young Americans we lost the world we had grown up in, and it kicked off the mess the have inherited today. Whether you lost a father in the towers, were shipped off like we were, or like most Americans - lived in daily fear of more attacks, under color coded warning systems, and watched as our way of life devolved into complete political and social instability that honestly we have never recovered from. I remember in the following years almost every radio station was playing Greenday's Wake Me Up When September Ends. That's because while it was actually a older unpublished song that Billie Joe Armstrong wrote (in the early 90s) about his father had passed way; he instead decided to resurrect it, have it rewritten a bit, and pushed onto their new album to make a statement about the wars and 9/11. They even shot a massive music video for it featuring a young couple dealing with the boyfriend going to Afghanistan, that played on loop on MTV for the longest time. People would literally call in almost every hour of the day to radio stations requesting the song in dedication to their son over seas... or the odd new young mother as a way tribute to her love who she hadn't seen in before she knew she was pregnant. Praying for him and hoping she would get a letter. That song was everywhere for years there, because for our country - and all us young people - the summer of our life had suddenly given way to the cold wind of winter. Our innocence had finally come to pass. Almost every family knew someone how had been forced to go to war, someones dad or son. No one was untouched. Gas prices suddenly shot up, everywhere the news spoke or the wars day in and out. Americans for as much as we fought and bickered, came together around a set of trading cards depicting terrorists who where on the FBI's most wanted. Almost every American work pins, or had yard flags, or bumper stickers that said "support the troops" - and every small victory had the president nearly weekly giving live address that where watched by 80% of the country. There was no part of the way of American life that wasn't effected. Even religious fundamentalism (fueled by a newfound manifest destiny around American greatness and the never-ending "war on terrorism") and hatred towards immigrants (thanks to paranoia over national security) surged to a level that anyone who publicly claimed themselves a atheist, gay or supporter of immigrants - would likely be publicly attacked or even disowned by your family in some places. Everything went to heck in a hand basket. I'm in my 40s now... and (honestly) there isn't a single day of my life I wouldn't trade to go back and live a single mundane day before 9/11. If anything, just to remember what 'normal' felt like at the time in my life. Just one day without terrorist threats, wars, broken government, and Americans warring against each other over trivial issues. I'd kill to have to use a pay phone, crack open the yellow pages, or unfold a map when I drove someplace I hadn't been before. And for those of us who also lost loved ones (my father and cousin, in my case) to the opioid crisis that literally happened immediately after 9/11, and those how lost loved ones for other reasons at that time... and since.... that day represents a delineation between life "before" and life "now". So I think 9/11 means a lot of things for MOST Americans who were there and lived it as teenagers or adults old enough to really experience and process it all these years later in the way children back then can't now. The day I say those planes hit the pentagon, I literally could feel the air sucked out of the room. I KNEW that it was something important (that would always be important) to my generation... our JFK assassination... our Vietnam.... or Korean war. That nothing would ever be the same again, and that things were going to suddenly change whether we were prepared for it or not: a nasty surprise you American youth that day. And sure enough, I spent the next several years scared as heck, and watched everything in my life uproot and go to heck. We all have stories about that time, and it's effect over the years after - some even now. That chapter of American history literally shaped the lives going forward of every single Young Gen X and Older Millennial in this country to this day. Even in middle-age, the ramifications are silently present in the background of our lives. How things might have been different if live had been allowed to unfold as slowly as it had before. There is still a lot of resentment and struggle in the fabric of this nation that was birthed from the seeds of that day, and poor decisions made by our leaders immediately after. For me, I morn not just the family I lost afterward, and my innocence... but I morn life in general before that day. I think a lot of us feel robbed of something that day, and the way our lives were 'supposed' to turn out. No matter how successful people are, I hear that sentiment a lot these days (surprisingly) as they look back and reflect. Especially with those in my generation of 'cusper' millennials. Some days I just want to feel summer again. -_-

i think about 9/11 nearly every day in some way.. i feel like that was the day that my whole universe was flipped and it hasn't flipped back ever since. i've actually been in the towers and went up to the rooftop observation deck. i was only 13 at the time, but i've always been fascinated by supertall skyscrapers from a very young age and that was where i wanted to go, when i was on a family NYC trip in 1997. this may sound overly dramatic, but i think a part of me, my innocence, and my bright outlook for the future died when i saw the towers crumble on TV that day.

People need to do some research about this before making comments about why he did this. He has several mental health issues & has been in and out of the hospital for years due to this. His father is very much alive and the family released a statement confirming they have no ties to the 9/11 attacks & didn't lose anyone. Here is a quote directly from his brother: "[Jeffrey] was born and raised in lower Manhattan so he lived through 9/11 but we don’t have a family connection to the memorial". They also confirmed he has multiple mental health issues and "40 psychotic breaks".

@deeson4473, which makes you wonder, why is he apparently "roaming the streets" if he has these serious mental health issues. There is never enough being done to treat mental health issues. I couldn't believe it was like a revolving door, "Bring them in for treatment, put them on meds, they seem better, now just turn them loose hoping they'll stay on their meds".... Then, they don't and have another episode so back in they come, back on meds, get better, now back out again and the cycle repeats UNTIL they harm themselves or someone else even to point of death....

Let me clear up all confusion since people love to make assumptions and jump to conclusions. This will be long, please bear with me. This man, Jeffrey Hernandez (33 y/o) lay facedown by the edge before sliding forward and falling 20 feet headfirst into the North Pool at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum on October 9th, 2023 at around 1:30pm. He had already sustained an injury on his head after he hurled himself 30ft into the basin of the memorial to get to the other 20ft drop. That is the “red” you see in the water before he falls a second time. It’s blood from his wound. He survived and was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries to his left leg, head, and back. After Hernandez was treated, he was then arrested and charged with criminal mischief and trespassing. He was described as an “apparently emotionally disturbed person,” by authorities and allegedly told one of the officers he “did this for his father.” !!!HOWEVER!!! Hernandez’s family stated that he has a long history with mental health. William Hernandez (42 y/o), Jeffery’s brother, confirmed to The Post the family has no direct connection to those who lost their lives on 9/11 and his comment would have been out of “remorse or guilt”. The father is still alive. I hope this helps clear up confusion.👍
@sinnbadd278
@sinnbadd278 2 месяца назад
Just to add on William also claims the city has failed him (Jeffery) by not providing adequate mental health care. “For the better part of two decades he’s been in and out of hospitals and psych wards,”. He added that his brother suffers from schizophrenia and is bipolar and should be in “supervised, residential care for mentally ill people”. Also saying “This was probably number 40 of his psychotic breakdowns. “My parents have been trying to get him in a home for mentally ill people for years but he keeps being deemed ineligible for some reason,” he said. “[Jeffrey] was born and raised in lower Manhattan so he lived through 9/11 but we don’t have a family connection to the memorial,” William explained. “[The incident he was involved in on Monday] was probably the manifestation of a suicide fantasy.” “He doesn’t really want to die. But there’s just no stopping him when he’s having a psychotic break.” This is all on The New York Post. Research more there if you want. 👍

@ColorMeErin
@ColorMeErin 28 дней назад
@@Leo-qe3glIt was said that the 1st 30ft Drop he Slid head 1st into the Basin... From there, he Walked over to the Square Pool, while Wincing in Pain, Laid down & then apparently Jumped down the 20ft into that 2nd Pool. He Suffered Head, Back & Leg Injuries. I didn't realize at 1st that he Jumped into the 2nd Pool, too. I thought he just Laid there, but apparently he did. In the Comments, someone Wrote that you could see Blood in the Water from the Head Injury he Sustained from the 1st 30ft Drop. I, honestly, have No Idea how he Survived a 30ft Head 1st Fall into Knee Deep Water & then a 2nd Drop of 20ft down into the 2nd Pool. However, what I do know is that this Guy didn't need Charges, Fines & possible Jail Time, he needed Involuntary, In-patient Mental Health Help ASAP. I Hope that he was able to get the Help he so desperately needed.

@Luci-4 there are crosswalks on city streets but I will give you some people won't even stop for them. Especially drunk drivers. So yeah we already know roads are dangerous that's why animals are to be leashed and people cross the road at their own peril. This ugly monstrosity was supposed to be uplifting not a toilet.

@@shimmer8289 I don't think a memorial for thousands of people who died horrifically was meant to be "uplifting." Most of the bodies were never found, they were pulverized by thousands of pounds of steel and concrete, so these reflecting pools are essentially mass graves for family members of the victims to come visit and pay their respects. It's meant to be somber, like most grave sights.

This memorial is odd to me. It reminds me of the fall many people took jumping from the buildings, and the drop of the buildings. Ik the architect had good intentions, but it’s a weird design for a memorial. Symbolically speaking, the water flowing downwards and into a large dark center is anything but hopeful or uplifting. This memorial should symbolize hope, strength and unity. It doesn’t for me. Instead I feel sadness and am reminded of how painful 911 was for all of us alive that day and how traumatic the aftermath was. Maybe that was Michael Arad’s intentions, to remind us of what we lost. Idk..
