King Diamond, I would say, put more metal into his Christmas song, but Tommy and Majestica definitely made a good concept album on Dickens' work, following King Diamond's own example with the telling of a story

Dio's "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and / or Rob Halford's "Winter Songs" (especially "Oh Come, O Come, Emanuel" and "Winter Song") are worthy contenders, as well.

For me It's King Diamond but I'm biased and he got me into Metal and has been my favorite act ever since.

I like the guitar work on King Diamond but Majestica really impressed me with their epic production. Their new concept album is a near-masterpiece combining traditional Christmas songs, orchestral/choral music and metal. The King Diamond song is an interesting historical curiosity but Majestica created an instant holiday classic that I'll be revisiting every year.

I know "No presents for Christmas" since the release 1988. Seen King Diamond with Motörhead on a Christmas festival that year. One of my favorite Christmas songs. But I like Majesticas "Ghost of Marley" too. My all time favorite of Christmas songs is the 1988 cover of "Mary's Boy child" from the German "Xmas Project". Members of RAGE, HOLY MOSES, LIVING DEATH and others have had many fun.

The king is the King. If I'm not mistaken the song was launched on 1985 on 25 december (so it turned 35 years old this xmas). He wasn't the inspiration for Kiss' makeup, in fact in one moment in time they sent a cease and desist letter to king because they thought his makeup was similar to the one simmons used (he was planning to change it anyways so he did). He has a newer xmasy song on his "puppet master" album that is called "christmas".

Thank you for the clarification about the Kiss reference, I did not dig further than reading about the similarity of the design, and it sounds perfectly plausible that Kiss would sue for copyright :) Maybe for next year's Christmas edition we'll dig into King Diamond's newer song, thanks for the tip. Finally, I will say that indeed this song is a favorite, not in the least because of the awesome guitar work by Andy LaRocque. - Anamaria

King Diamond has a song called Christmas on The Puppet Master (2004) And Trans Siberian Orchestra specializes in Christmas with musicians like Alex Skolnick (Testament) and John Petrucci (Dream Theater)

chris david(bass/lead vocals) has just as good of a voice as tommy johannson the whole 'a christmas caro'l album be wicked good l has it on my spotify l also has several of both mercyful fate and king diamond's albums as well the 'no presents for christmas' on a compilation of punk and metal artists christmas songs so as far as who done it more metally l'mma give it to king diamond but for which l prefer l'mma give it to majestica
