Classic Tone Bender, Fuzz Face, Muff & More, made by pixies in sheds. Kind of…
Life too short for long RU-vid videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below.
Welcome to the show! We love fuzz, mmmmkay? And this video is simply an excuse to play a load of semi-rare, semi-unobtanium leant to us by our good pal Marcus Reeves. All up it forms an ersatz history of the major fuzz flavours. Erm, kinda.
PLEASE NOTE: We are using the terms Tone Bender, Fuzz Face and Big Muff as semi-generic terms throughout this video. They are not generic terms. We should shout from the rooftops that…
• ToneBender is a trademark of Macaris Ltd.
• Fuzz Face is a trademark of Dunlop Manufacturing Inc.
• Big Muff is a trademark of New Sensor Corp.
Enjoy the video!

SCAM ALERT! Hello to everyone watching this. Please note we will NEVER promote competitions or prizes in RU-vid comments sections. There are parties pretending to be us. As a longtime fan, these are still the types of episodes that are endlessly entertaining; a pile of a family of pedals (be it OD's, choruses, or in this case fuzz) that you two have minimal exposure to, and just trying them out and getting tones. While I appreciate the teacher role you two have stepped into, these types of videos appeal to everyone from the beginner to advanced player, and are just flat out entertaining.

Yet another EPIC That Pedal Show episode!!!! I am a huge Fuzz fan for about the last 54 years, My Uncle Bil, my first guitar hero used a Les Paul with a Vox Wah and Maestro FuzzTone, I use a Les Paul and a Stratocaster with several different 3 transistor fuzzes, as well as treble boosters for my core tone, both for "clean" and dirty tones, just using my playing dynamics and guitar controls. I can fly through 2-3 hours with just that!

PS: I love that you got this collection of really detailed, high end fuzz boxes this time. I've seen a lot of these brands- like seeker effects- on instagram etc, but haven't had the pleasure of hearing them and esp. not on TPS, which is for me a definitive benchmark because I am so familiar with the sounds you get and your reactions to the tone and feel of various pedals. Thanks guys!

So much fun, and I agree %100 about the HP sound and the Karma Suture. Catalinbread struck gold with that one. It sounds good as any kind of gain stage, actually - the low gain sounds are phenomenal. As a fuzz it's glorious. The Land Devices one sounds amazing. One of my favorite moments in this episode is when Mick goes to switch it back to the more controlled mode and Dan makes it clear he wants "Destruction." Beautiful.

I'm one of those who just don't get the buzz around fuzz, but I can appreciate it when in the hands of a great player in the right musical context. Great show! Amazing tones and some beautiful pedals for sure! One thing I'd love to see you guys take on, is a show on using fuzz at lower volumes. Volumes that are not necessarily bedroom level, but that are more likely capable to play at home for most people. Reason why I'm asking is that I love fuzz, but have struggled to find pedals and sounds that work well at home volumes. Would love to see your approach to it and how it can be done well enough

You guys could have a show on the "History of Tiddlywinks," and I would tune in and watch enraptured from start to finish. I wish I had a mate like either of you to hang out and play music with. My first (and, for years, only) dirt pedal, and which I used when I played in my first band in the early 70's, was the original Big Muff. I believe it first came on the market in 1969, when I was a very happy hippy attending Penn State University. That was also the year I went to my first WHO concert (of 6). After seeing Townsend go through his gyrations on stage, I immediately bought my first guitar (a Gibson SG Standard) and never turned back. That pedal was awesome! BTW, I don't care if I sound like a fan boy, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Mick and Dan are among the best guitarists I've ever heard.
