You included some really practical reasons to purchase the new product! I'm sorry about the recent plant mix up. I get such a rush receiving a plant box. Guess life is a crap shoot. 😢. Never know the whys but just move on as quick as possible. Maybe you could give yourself a replacement plant fix soon! 🎉

When you said you would leave out the center part when doing ryzome plants, I have a better suggestion leave it in and put an air stone at the bottom it would pull more water flow over the plant roots in the gravel.

I would be so behind these if they had a bit of faux rock or faux wood design on the outside. Looking like tall stacks of flat sedimentary rocks, or like exposed stumps of trees would really sell these in a naturalistic setup, and make them accessible for aquascape enjoyers as well.
@curvingfyre6810
@curvingfyre6810 Месяц назад
Actually, I've been wanting to do basically exactly this with cholla wood logs stuffed with lava gravel for ages. Imagine a shallow tank set up like a flooded forest of skeletonized trees, stuffed with epiphytes, and topped with expansive jungles of riparian plants.

It would be really, really cool if they made a rectangular version of this that could be placed up against the back wall so it doesn’t look like a big pillar in the middle of your tank. Nice video!

@Fishtory 🤔 Hmmm. Either that or he has just paid attention to your tanks and how many plants and the variety of plants that you have in ALL of your aquariums. Yeah, your obsession is, oh wait, I mean your passion for plants is on display for all of us to drool over. Unfortunately I am about to give up live plants and just go to fake ones. Some of them actually look really good now a days. Do rams horn snails eat live plants? I've always had bladder snails and they only eat the dead stuff. But about a month ago I noticed a rams horn snail in my tank. And now they are over taking my tank and my bladder snails are disappearing. I bought a plant but I can't remember the name, it had small clusters of clover like leaves on it. As soon as I put it in, the rams horns started crawling all over it. They covered it and by the end of the day, there wasn't a leaf left on it. Just a couple of small twigs. Why would they do that? I have the worst luck with plants. 🤷‍♀️

I just woke up and haven't been watching this video yet, but I just wanted to write and say thank you. A lot. Thanks to your excellent videos I've managed to get into fishkeeping for the first time since childhood without any serious problems, and that with 5 different aquariums! I've learnt a lot, and I just started up the 5th aquarium, a 200L (about 52,8 gallon). I once again looked through as many videos from you about substrate, and took a little look at MD Fish Tanks for inspiration especially about the scape. I decided to go for a type of garden soil that seemed to be fine, and some fine gravel, mixed those and had a bit more than an inch of that everywhere, then I had fine gravel/sand as a thick layer above that. I got pretty much plants, including one that was said to be difficult "impossible to grow without co2 even if it probably survives". Well. That plant grows as crazy, all the plants do 😁 My new fish (Pseudomugil gertrudade) seem to be thriving and are showing off for each other all the time, I really hope I will manage to save some eggs from them in the future, and the shrimps (neocaridina) are also carriying eggs now. It all looks beautiful, and even my partner who aren't at all interested in fishkeeping, stops next to that aquarium at least once a day to look at the shrimps, he seem to really enjoy them. I really hope everything there continues to thrive, but for now, everything is fantastic. Thanks to everything I've managed to learn from your content. So once again, thank you! I'm so extremely happy with this aquarium.

As a plant person, I can see the centerpiece w/ just an air stone, and the rest filled with LECA. Would that not purposely pull in water/nutreints into the vessel, whilst the LECA to "hold" the particulates, making them available to the plants?

Well there's so many details to talk about, so it's hard to know what to include and what not to include. I encourage everyone to ask questions and research the questions they have, especially if it's something like " what ph do shrimp live at" or something with fairly solid or simple answers. If it's more complex then ask someone in the hobby who may know

I am sorry if I sounded grumpy. I just adopted a sick fish from the petstore and I think I was hoping you would come on with some miracle cure. I did put him in more acidic water and did an ick dip. He is still lingering, but likely won’t make it. I don’t know why I do this to myself..savior complex I guess. Anyway you are doing wonderful work. These little blue dwarf gouramis just have issues fromwhat I have read; but I couldn’t leave himat the store.

I tried asking Cory about this during a recent livestream, in the hopes of bringing attention to the product. Unfortunately, he crapped on the concept. Now I wish I hadn't mentioned it. Hopefully, people won't be deterred by his opinion and will support it. Feeling guilty about it.
@Fishtory
@Fishtory Месяц назад
Ah no worries. Cory sells a rock that does a similar thing. If this was out and selling well....he'd sell this too...and he will copy it if it sells in the future lol. He will follow the business. But I think this product is great for people who just want to pack in the benefits of plants, and or move them around and grow out rhizome plants or floating type plants. It makes resetting a spawning tank super easy too. But I agree, they aren't "attractive" necessarily.... and it's kinda unnatural looking due to several issues. But people should take things as what they are, and not assume it's going to address all case uses or purposes. Cheers

@Fishtory
@Fishtory Месяц назад
Lol well the Europe and Japan laugh their butt's off at American Aquascapers. But I agree this is nothing like the Amano iwagumi/nature way. This is a stack of pots for new people to get to learn plant care, especially for those who fail in past attempts and need some easy wins to try and get planting again... or if you want to add some funky tower elements to an aquascape be it fancy, organic or highly un-natural looking.... but then again a BOX of any type is extremely unnatural.

I think he clarified it's 2025. Buuut, understandable, there. I hope some company backs the idea for his first round of molds or something... and he can see what the market responds with. It isn't appealing looking in my opinion, the more I look at mine... but I really like being able to add a whole tank worth of plant life in one object

He stole the idea from an Indian man who sold it to him In India.
@Fishtory
@Fishtory Месяц назад
Oh yeah? Well it's already an idea in gardening and permiculture on land, so I assumed he copied that...it's almost identical. But sharing, buying, stealing, or coincidentally having the same idea as another person vs. Bringing it to reality are way different... so assuming you say he paid the Indian man. That's pretty cool of him. Since different countries won't fight the trademark or patent, even if it was around and identical. Do you have a link to this Indian version by chance? I'd love to see it
