In this video, I'm introducing you to a new tool that helped me find $250 of treasure amidst heavy trash. This treasure tool is perfect for people who look for treasure in areas with a lot of trash. The sand falls through the holes of the sand rake and the trash and treasure remain.
This is a great tool for people who want to sift through the top layer of dry sand. It is easy to use, but you have to go slowly. If you're interested in learning more about how to use this tool, be sure to watch the video! It is a great supplement to searching with a metal detector such as the Minelab Manticore. The metal detector identifies areas of high volume of metal and the sand rake separates the sand from the trash and treasure. You pull it along the surface. I had come to this spot many times and has used various metal detectors. I was previously able to dig the high tones but there was so much mid to low tone trash. The beach sand rake gave me the ability to sift/search through the surface layer quickly and efficiently.

Fun video. I think most people think that the best metal detecting videos are finding incredible things, but honestly enjoying a place and an experience that is new to you is exciting even if you are digging trash most of the time. You beat the dragon today. Most people turned away when they heard all that. I find that those areas are full of good targets and lessons. I like the old trash dumps but they are challenging.

This is just like the lake I detect every weekend. The dam was built in 1943 and the lake sits over the old county seat township. I have dug Barrels and barrels of pull tabs and trash built up for over 80 years for the last 10 years. I have dug a lot jewelry gold and silver and old silver coins. It is easier to pull the silver but the gold requires a ton of work to find. For a 73 year old guy more than 4 hour hunts are getting out of my ability to do especially on 100 +deg. days. I started with a whites machine and went to the Minlab Excaliber II so I could hunt in the water and now the Manticore that has been good to me with a 14k ring a 10k ring a stainless ring silver bracelet and tungsten ring also a Seiko coronagraph watch. I also hunt the Calif. beaches. The beaches have been under water because of the heavy snow runoff from last winter. The beaches are just now starting to be exposed as the lake drops lets hope for some nice treasure. I really like your channel and the education I get from it even though you are clear across the nation.

Sand Flea Rake, very nice adaptation to filter out the trash. I use one to sift through the surf where the "heavies" drop. A big bonus is when the sand fleas are in abundance you create a fishing hot spot and if you keep a line in the water your going to get bit - a lot.

That's a great idea. I do have a thought that may work faster. Get yourself a 5 gallon bucket and once the basket is full dump it in the bucket. Then take it home and go through it all. Save all that aluminum cause you can turn it in for money. Thanks for the video.

Yes but that is only to hear certain ranges of numbers at a higher amplitude. The problem is that what I want (gold) is mid to low tone. Gold would only ring up high if it is next to silver on a piece of jewelry. The only thing I could see helping is enhanced audio which would help me hear size better but in that soup it didn’t matter.

My hat’s off to you, sir. Question: aren’t the holes in that trash bin too large, such that a lot would fall out attempting to empty it? Inquiring minds, and all that. Another question: wouldn’t it be just as efficient to empty the entire contents of the scoop in the trash bin? Small shells and sticks would be uncomfortable on the feet. Still and all, you’re doing Great work - cleaning up the trash that we idiot humans discard so carelessly. Thanks!

This is a small version of an old sand crab scoop / rake. They are usually made with 1/2" hardwear cloth. They work great around fire pits.

With the wind noise, have you ever looked into those foam windsock enclosures for the GoPro? We picked up one off Amazon but haven't had enough windy detecting days to give it a test yet.

Now that's dedication So much trash no one wants to detect there but our Merrill still finds the treasure If at first you don't succeed try try and keep trying till that bloody trash bin is full.

I have a sand flee scoop and havee been debatingg on selling its for a detecting scoop.

Detecting scoops are more surgical. 95 times out of 100 I would prefer the traditional scoop. But this made a dent pretty quickly.

People do twist off those pull tabs, I just metal detected ribfest grounds the day after ribfest, I found 6 or so pull tabs just sitting on top of the grass, I'm like wtf, who does that

Merrill were you worried about losing small stuff like earrings?
@MetalDetectingNYC
@MetalDetectingNYC Год назад
Losing small stuff with this method is inevitable. But we took a dent out of the trash on the beach which makes it easier to navigate with a metal detector and identify those earrings. WhenI went in the water I thought to myself about how I spent so much time clearing the dirt, and perhaps left prematurely.
