Decided to step out during the night in Los Angeles and shoot on Film. Shot the video on the beautiful SIRUI Saturn Anamorphic lenses. Photos where taken on the Pentax 67 & Fujifilm GFX 100II. I hope you all enjoy this one.

Sorry, just discovered you posted that just four days ago, Here I am... My reflection on the video... It is fun, relaxing and great vibe to watch!! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the GFX100 II and that bad boy lens! Pairing vintage lenses on the digital cam definitely makes photography fun again! All your photos came out so nice!! Based on comparison between photos on Left and Right... I would say Left was shot on Film and Right shot on GFX because I know exactly what Fujifilm's color science looks like. Hopefully I'm right. Love this work and these photos Mike. Glad you’ve finally seen the light that is Fujfilm. Although digital medium format is not film medium format the difference is negligible for the regular viewer. Keep in mind, you can add film recipes to your GFX for every film stock you currently shoot. You can emulate CineStill 800, Portra 400 & 800, as well as Ilford HP5 400 and Kodak Tri-X 400. Get at me the next time you in ATL. I’ll miss you in NYC. I won’t be there again until July. One.

Beautiful stuff. Would be really interested in seeing you experimenting with the GFX using it strictly with JPGs and custom film presets, getting the entire look in camera. I love using the X100V like that, it really does bridge the gap between the film and digital experience; if that works on MF, that would be really tempting. Keep up the great work!

I made a two weeks comparaison between GFX100 and Mamiya7ii and RZ67 on Portra, you couldn’t see which one was film or digital. I made the test with severals pictures en facebook. That was fun. Definitely adopted the GFX as the game changer

@@charliipresley I posted this on facebook. In fact I first developed the film then put the GFX file aside and match ut on lightroom. Of course the dynamic in high light is still better on 120film but if you well exposed your GFX photos, it’s very hard to find a difference or if you see one, you can’t be sure which file is the film.

I'm going to guess the picture with the lady in front of the liquor store is film. In any event, I think you have done a very good job with this video. You haven't presented a video that I thought was bad. Again, this video, as well as the others you have presented, in my opinion, is good stuff.... real good stuff.

Before I write the main thing, I want to say that I admire your videos - they are real stories and movies. I really loved your videos while they were about film photography. Digital photos don`t have an embedded soul. You can listen to super Flac music, but nothing beats vinyl. You can drive a modern electric car, but you can't compare it to an old '67 Charger. It's all for your soul..this process can't compare to anything...but digital ...is only click click click.... of course these videos with gfx brings more views. And yes - if it compare to 6x7 film - you can't find a lot of different. But you lost a wonderful magical process. Sorry, I really respect your work. You are amazing man.

I have 20/20 vision and I find the Pentax 67 challenging to focus in all but broad daylight. I know that back in the day, a couple of manufacturers made, "bright screen" focusing screens for the Pentax (and other medium format film cameras), that supposedly gave around 1 to 1.5 more stops of light into the viewfinder, but they are very difficult to find, and I would imagine they're very expensive. It must be me, because I have seen several RU-vidrs shooting the Pentax 67 at night. Are you using the standard focusing screen on the Pentax?

That anamorphic lens is pretty slick. The pincushion distortion is quite intense but I like it.

I love the 'blue-faced' image, the colour image on the bike is also a winner in my eyes. Personally I much prefer to shoot colour at night, I feel it just adds something, more atmospheric, binging a little extra to the table, black and white at night doesn't quite have the vibe.
