It's funny that you have "Phantasm" on the wall behind you because that film supposedly was an influence on "Nightmare on Elm Street." And it's awesome that you brought up the issue with the flawed parents in the films because that theme is rampant in the franchise, especially the latter films. I always saw the disconnected parents as being sort of statement about the '80s and where society was headed.
I actually didn't know that phantasm was an influence on elm Street so I've learned something new there! And yes! It definitely was a big part of 80s cinema, I think it's especially obvious in the films of John Hughes, Wes was a genius for tapping into that in the world of horror!

The Nightmare on Elm Street series is definitely the top three of horror franchises. The first one is a classic, Dream Warriors is one of my favorites along with Dream Master, which has my favorite Freddy death in it. The reboot had issues and suffered from bad writing and cgi. Jackie Earl Haley actually did a good job, as he played more of a sinister character and less humor. The reboot also addressed the fact that Freddy was indeed a child molester. I've been hearing that another reboot is on the way, but who knows? Great video and feel better.
Dream Warriors and the first film will always be my favourites - then it's actually followed by Wes Craven's New Nightmare which gets a lot of hate for some reason. I really didn't enjoy that remake but it's been so many years since I've seen it I'd have to revisit it sometime! Glad you enjoyed the video!!
