It's cheaper for NECA to rerelease an old Beetlejuice figure from 15 years ago than it is to do a whole new sculpt for a ultimate Beetlejuice figure. It's a cost saving measure. NECA is probably banking on those who didn't buy the original release figures picking up these.
Same with that Hannibal Lector at Walmart. An ultimate version would be amazing, but we get a twenty year old mold. Yes it’s cool to have a second chance to get these, but new figures would be amazing. Also I feel they might be taking shots at McFarlane toys who are getting back into the 7 inch statue game. They used to horror figures as well. Imagine if Mcfarlane reissues his old shit as well.
The old McFarlane stuff (specifically the original Movie Maniacs) is waaaay too outdated to be reissued but who knows what could happen. I know they’re back to making new movie maniacs lines though
I disagree with the face paint apps a little bit but I'm pretty disappointed we aren't getting an ultimate Beetlejuice yet. I'll probably get these but still prefer an ultimate version.
also guaranteed, there will be an ultimate figure, but it'll be fore the newer sequel version (basically similar look but just michael keaton looking older)
just like how mezco could/shouldve done an '04 hellboy for the one:12 line, but chose the '19 movie version instead to help sell that movie, so too will NECA try & use the ultimates to sell the beetlejuice sequel
I actually hope that’s the case because I think it would be a brilliant release regardless and Michael Keaton still looks the same in my opinion too haha, I’m sure the Beetlejuice make up adds to that but he looks to have barely changed in this new movie
I don't want anything with Keaton looking older. Why would anyone want that? Beetlejuice is a ghost, he's supposed to be immortal and ageless. I've predicted that the merch which coincides with this new movie will mostly be in the style of the '88 original, and I've already seen it happening.
@@CLB422 yeah it's kind of amazing how Keaton looked exactly the same back in 2015-'16 (when Birdman came out) as he did in '88, they should've def made this back then & there'd be no change. Ironically now he looks more his age than ever. remember seeing the teaser for this & being like "woah shit" about his age, even in full make-up, for the first time in my life
between the multiple beetlejuice figures & the hannibal figure re-releases, looks like NECA is trying to take a step back cost-wise wherever they can these days. the emptying of their inventory of the Target march madness events & now re-releases with no (or somewhat poor) updates, they seem slightly desperate to not spend much
I thought neca was better then this those figures are garbage am not wasting my money on those like you said it been nice a ulmate beetle juice figure not this garbage. Really surprised at them no one like the colt classic figures they where like little status are they kidding with this
I do hope we get an ultimate. A Lydia would sell well as well. I don’t mind the opportunity to buy these again but I will be disappointed if this is it.
I would agree that these are pretty underwhelming. But as far as the return to a cult classics line of some sort, I would really love reissue of the Dawn of the Dead figures that they had in the line previous. Also I would love if you made a video of your wish list. I have a wish list of my own, and concepts of sorts to go along with it...an example a Toony terror collection of all the creepshow characters!!
I think that Toony Terrors Creepshow figures would go down a storm and work really well in that style!! I’d also love to see NECA return to Dawn of the Dead, a zombie figure pack with Flyboy and the Plaid shirt zombie? Yes please!
@@ARealHorrorShow definitely what I thought too , a boxed set for ' something to tide u over ' and a deluxe ' the crate'' . Oh I'd pop my tits if they did this lol
@@ARealHorrorShow but here's a great question for you. If u could start your own toy company, what's your top license you want to get and what would you do with it?
Ooooh that’s a good question and one I’d really have to think about to come up with my best possible answer! First thing that comes to mind though is making more Halloween 1978 figures! The NECA releases like the Night he Came Home box set and evolution of evil pack and incredible and it’s been nearly 20 years now without H78 figures! Only one I can think of that’s decent enough is the release from Trick or Treat Studios last year
@@ARealHorrorShow I think an Annie and Lynda two pack is needed for sure. If I had the license for Dawn of the Dead ,for sure figures for Roger ,Peter , Stephen and Francine with loads of accessories and articulation. Of course Flyboy, hare Krishna, plaid shirt, and hatchet head zombies have to be made ..and for good measure a tom savini biker!!
Like everyone else, half of me really wanted an ultimate figure but the other half knew it wasn’t going to happen. I was late to the collecting game so I am happy to get my hands on these figures regardless as a huge beetlejuice fan, but I also fully understand everyone’s disappointment and would be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit disappointed too. Here’s hoping NECA will push the boat out a little more with future re-releases!
Definitely! As I said these figures really are great! But if they came with more accessories or even alternate heads or something - that would have made a big difference!
I'll probably pick one of these up. I have the original Cult Classics one still in box but the paint job doesn't look great in places. So will probably grab one of these to open up to display and keep the original boxed. I wouldn't mind if the released more like this to be able to grab so ones I was unable get the first time round. Praying for Michael Myers with ghost costume or the Evolution of Evil set with young Michael.
I’ve been hoping NECA make figures based on Halloween 1978 again for years now, maybe when it’s the films 50th anniversary they could bring us something special for it! Also, the paint job on my Beetlejuice still looks fantastic in my opinion for a 2008 figure but regardless, these new figures still look great and are worth the pick up if you’re after them
@@ARealHorrorShow Yeah same really hoping they manage to pick up the license and can give us an Ultimate Michael 78. Think I just got unlucky with the paint on my Beatlejuice in a few spots.
i have the old striped suit one and its great,if they do a new one i would love if they did his "tour guide" look when he emerges from his grave. with the hat, the surprised face from the memes, and one with the snakes shooting out of his face.
Dude... first they re-released the "house of 1000 corpses" action figures (if you wanna call em that. I call em statues), then they did the same thing with the Hannibal Lectar figure... now its Beetlejuice?? Neca is REALLY cheaping out and disappointing me these days. If they don't start doing it right again, I'm done collecting their figures. They're literally giving us rehashed CRAP. ...and can't even retool or anything, to give some articulation? Grrrrrr.... Sik
But on the other side they have produced a LOT of new horror collectibles lately of a whole bunch of characters that we’ve never gotten before. This includes that incredible American werewolf two pack that they’ve worked on to bring us - but still, we all want the ultimate up to date versions of characters such as Beetlejuice!
@@ARealHorrorShow yeah, it's still lame. I've waited for an "ultimates" realese of the house of 1000 corpses for a very long time now. And we get re-releaeed statues... and, for the anniversary even! ...who is neca trying to be, McFarlane? Sik
I used to be a huge Neca fanatic but as of late I can’t be interested in anything got everything I need out TMNT, F13th, nightmare on elm street, T2, Alien(s), Predator, Halloween, Childs Play and TX Chainsaw IP’s
Personally I love all of the more left field releases that NECA are bringing out lately and they’ve done some spectacular announcements such as the American werewolf two pack
Hopefully NECA know how much the people want an ultimate Beetlejuice figure and decide to work on one because they would do such a tremendous job of it!
@@ARealHorrorShow Might be some licensing issues, but that usually affects the likeness of the actor who portrays the character, not the articulation of the figure itself…
The why I see it in general is like this unless someone that works there. Says they are never going to do it dont put it past them. They may have plans on do it. Case in point for example the horror movies Sleepaway Camp 2 an 3. People want new releases of them on physical media. But someone that works for the movie studio that has the rights to those movies. Made a comment saying we will never releases those movies on physical media. Because we think those movies are garbage movies. So it's clear that that movie studio will never release those movies on physical media. Now people are going after Shout/Scream Factory. For not releasing movies that they want them to releases. But they are just assuming they are not going to release them on physical media. Because Shout/ Scream Factory never made a statement saying anything like that. They make surprise announcements all of the time for movies. That no one thought would be released or re-released on physical media. But things happen that slow it down so they don't announce it until its ready. Like for example Clive Barkers Nightbreed. They where working on the directors cut of the movie for years because they couldn't find. The missing footage but once they found it they where on it an it was released. So the point is unless someone from NECA says we have no plans on making it. Whatever it is don't count it out as a possibility. Because it may be in the works already an they don't want to say. Anything about it till is ready but in the meantime they can. Do these releases then may be make a big announcement about the ultimate figure later.
I definitely have not counted out the possibility of us getting an ultimate Beetlejuice and never said that in the video, I just hope that it becomes a reality in the future
@@ARealHorrorShow I'm not saying that you did. I'm just saying that some people don't understand how companies work when it comes to projects. Some don't announce things until things are all worked out. So they can give a official release date and other information an images. Because if they announce it then it gets delayed its more of a disappointment. So no announcement is a good thing in a way. Because it's better than a announcement saying that it will never happen. Because if they say it will never happen. You know it will never happen but if they say nothing. That leaves it a possibility that is what I'm saying.
It definitely comes off as a bit lazy / cheap on NECA's part to re-release such old figures, but I suppose if I were in their shoes and still had those old sculpts on hand, I would do the same. As a collector, would I like an Ultimate Beetlejuice? Of course. But as someone who didn't get a chance to collect the Cult Classics line back in the day, I don't mind getting them re-released, even if they aren't as articulated, they should still fit in with other horror NECAs just fine.
And like I said in the video the figures do hold up really really well! Fantastic for everyone who missed out on the original cult classics run and still brilliant figures!
It's entirely possible the license doesn't allow them to make anything new, the word was that Rob Zombie himself was the one that didn't want fully articulated figures for Corpses made. Also it could just be wanting product on the shelves that catches people in the hype leading up to the new movie, because let's be honest Burton hasn't made a good movie in over 20 years.
An ultimate Beetlejuice would have been the perfect release for the lead up to the movie. But despite the movie, I think it would be a massively successful figure regardless. And yeah, let’s not talk about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 😅
I think we need to take a wait an see approach here. They may be working on a ultimate figure of Beetlejuice. I mean it would involve a completely new mold so it would take more time. So unless they say that they are not making one they may be making one behind the scenes. Because the actress that played the original April O'Neil from the Ninja Turtle movies. Did updates on her RU-vid channel with how her NECA figure was coming along in every single stage of its development. Put it this way it took months just for the original design stage to get everything just right.
Oh yeah, it takes a lot of time for these figures to become a reality! I just hope an ultimate Beetlejuice is something that NECA are considering because the people want it!
Amazing video Liam! I may add him to my collection probably in the striped suit but both would be tempting, and I’d love to see a video of you going over your own wish-list and concepts for figures. 🤘🏻🔥
Thank you very much mate! I’ve always wanted the striped suit one myself, but I’d rather hunt down the original cult classics release myself! And I’ll definitely get some ideas together for that video!
Personally I would rather see beetlejuice figures in ultimate form from Neca. But these 2 figures are the closest thing to what we need. Plus they would go well with my Michael Keaton Batman from Neca and McFarlane the flash Michael Keaton Batman figures too. And even the back to the future figures from Neca.
@@ARealHorrorShowyes. Definitely. And if they’re reissuing their cult classics, they should fix the die hard figure of John mcclane if they get the license again and do more versions of John mcclane with Bruce Willis’s likeness even though he’s got aphasia and now dementia and with a lot of articulation and weapons. It would be cool to put along side my Neca terminator, Robocop, Rambo, Rocky, my Dutch figures from predator along with my John matrix commando figure and the ash Williams figures from evil dead. Also I’d like to see more army of darkness evil dead 3 figures from Neca ultimate style. Hopefully we see that at Sdcc 2024.
@@ARealHorrorShowand also the Neca hammer horror figures of Christopher Lee Dracula and Vincent price. And those two guys appeared in Tim Burton movies as well. But it’s too bad Michael Keaton never worked with them, Johnny Depp did.
I would buy a re-issue of Frank the rabbit from Donnie Darko. That figure is extremely expensive, and I wouldn't mind the limited articulation since all he does is stand there MENACINGLY
I made similar comments on their Hannibal figure but this is just a disgrace really. They make unique sculpts for every rubbish side TMNT character but cannot do new sculpts for Bettlejuice, Hannibal or even John Kramer. They've become a disappoinment lately.
The John Kramer and Hannibal Lecter figures have new head sculpts (definitely Hannibal and I’ve compared the John Kramer figures and the new one LOOKS like a new sculpt to me) but Beetlejuice definitely deserves more and the people want it!
It's easy for them to re-release these, (im not complaining, i dont have the old ones, i dont like the price of them currently) they don't have to do new molds. Probably has a bit to do with gauging peoples interest in this older character. Im sure when the movie drops, and interest surges, they'll pull out the stops, and give some great pieces just like they always have.
I wouldn’t worry too much. I think that this was done mainly because of the new sequel that’s about to release. I doubt they will completely re issue the cult classics line including David. Great figure by the way!
@@ARealHorrorShow well they are remaking the lost boys remember? It's taking them years and years but last I checked that was still the plan. I'd bet they redo the lost boys releases when the remake comes close to its release date
