Porsche Boxster 986 this week: just a short video to show you what's currently going on in the barn, and I reveal the new car that joins us at projects in the barn.
Nice one, Simon, loooove the colour and well pronounced, I concur with your pronunciation 😉👍.Have a lot of fun tinkering with it👍, good luck with the MOT and look foward to more vids as always mate😊😊
Can't wait to see how these projects progress! I reckon nearly 50% of every job I do is (safely) lifting and lowering the car. I bet you, like me, dream of two post lifts...
Hi Chris, good to hear from you, buddy. Before I took on the barn I am currently in, I had one around the corner, and I did have a 2 post lift in there. It was such much easier. Maybe one day I'll treat myself to another lift 👍
Hi Simon, glad to see the XKR is coming along and looking forward to the new project. Before you use your new trolly jack under the front cross member, in my experience you may need to inspect the cross member first, if you suspect it of being a bit "crusty" you may damage it with the weight of the car. remove a wheel and you should be able to give it a good tap, or better still raise the car on ramps to inspect it, Dave
Hi Dave, good to hear from you, buddy, and I really appreciate the great advice. I will deffo be inspecting the front cross member as you say, and I will add it all in the video as well, before i attempt to lift any part of the car😀 👍
Hi Mark, thanks for that buddy. I've had quite a few porsche cars before, and I love them, especially the boxster, as they represent great value for money 👍
Very well done on the Jaguar I have watched with great interest, having my own 2001 XK-R which had the "green shower issue. I have a "sister" 986 Boxster, in matt blue, which I drove to the south of France and barely back, with overheating issues 🙄 ....Great minds? ...or sucker for punishment? Keep doing what you're doing! You are my Hero!!
Hi Stephen, good to hear from you, buddy. I am leaning more towards your second comment, being a sucker for punishment! Nice to hear about your cars too, the boxsters are such fun, aren't they?! 👍
Hi, I'm amazed that you take on so much work. But that's your thing. I wouldn't have the patience for that. Two vehicles are enough for me. 😅 By the way, this Porsche would not be my choice. My absolute favorite is still the JAGUAR: Van den Plas Executive In a luxurious interior. With snow-white leather seats. But that is very far away.😂
@jamesarculus9657 hopefully it's just the gearbox multifunction switch, a pretty common issue, it has been diagnosed as such. Basically the gearbox is in safe or limp mode, and won't change up to 5th gear to protect itself. The report shows the gearbox thinks it's in 5th gear all the time due to the switch failure.
