Phenomenal video. People (and women in particular) need to rid themselves of the victim mentality. It blows my mind when I hear former SAHMs say they were “bored” being home all the time. I have 3 children all under 6 and can’t keep up with all the things I want to do because my children keep me productive and I take the time to invite them into my interests (gardening, homesteading, canning, etc). Our homes are the one place we have ultimate control over and absolutely love making my home exactly what I want it to be for our family. I also 100% agree about being intentional with who you follow/hang with. I really avoid (even the tongue and cheek) “mental load of motherhood”, husband bashing, etc. influencers you see these days.

It’s so wonderful to be home and have time to do all the things. I am cooking from scratch, bake our own bread and make our house a home. I started to learn to sew garments so I will be able to sew dresses for me and shirts for my husband. I have time to go into nature with my dog and care for plants on our balcony (salad, tomatoes, strawberries and herbs). I take care of all the birthdays (family and friends): writing the greeting cards, making presents. All that without stress. Before being a homemaker I had to squeeze in all these things in a few hours after work. So I wasn’t doing it with Love and care but with stress and resentment. And most important: I finally have more time for praying! It’s been already a huge blessing to our marriage. We are both happier and more grateful. My husband usually is the only one who gets homemade food for his lunchbreak. 😂 It makes me so happy to see his smiling face when we sit down to eat or when he comes home and sees what I did while he was at work. I don’t understand why women don’t want that and would rather go work in a widget factory or a big office.

I never understood the sentiment "I need a break from my kids". Maybe I'm just lucky but I loved being home with them and now that they are teenagers I still love that we sit together a little while just to chat when they are back from school. From what you said in this video your children will be so lucky to be cherished by two parents who awaited them with so much anticipation. People shy away from the word discipline because perhaps they associate this with physical abuse but confiscation of a toy for example is "discipline". It's possible to discipline with gentleness but being firm and clear on what is okay/not okay and explaining to them the why (haha, yes, mums at home can take a few minutes to explain the why as needed).

Before corona I too thought that I needed a break from my children. When corona hit and I started to homeschool, I was forced to properly discipline my children. I now l o v e being with them and it breaks my heart every time we are separated. I am certain that He used the virus to open my eyes and heart.

I totally agree with you! Miserable Christians wives and/or moms really need to start praying and asking God to help them renew their minds through reading his word daily and just allowing the Holy Spirit to give them peace. The husband setting the vision (just as God has set his vision for us as his children) could take a huge weight off the wife if she's trying to figure out everything on her own. This is what I gather observing different things since I don't have a husband. I'm trying to learn as much about homemaking as possible because I didn't learn it from my mom unfortunately. I'm a full time caregiver for my dad and working on making the house that I grew up in finally comfortable and hospitable for once. My dad set me up to inherit the house once he's gone. So I have a huge incentive to make the house into a nice space now and make it into a place that I like to be instead of a place that I feel stuck as a caregiver. I know caregiving is not the same as being a wife and mom but I'm still having to think of ways to make it into a cozy, inviting, healthy, happy home.

I love the idea of casting the vision the Lord has put in your heart and working towards your purpose. “The home is the forward operating base for heaven!” Amen! I’ve found thoughtfully cultivating peace in my home (with my husband and daughter) and fellowshipping with my church community is nirvana. I love being at home and stewarding are home economy. Bless you both! If you have any books on the home economy concept, please let me know. I’d love to know your reading list.

I love these homemaking videos, looking forward to your videos Kelli! Very true about surrounding yourself with people of the same vision. Some people don't always understand, and it can be draining to me to listen to the feedback. Do you guys have favorite RU-vid channels you could link in your channels section? It's so nice to watch people with the same values in life!

Oh my goodness! Loved this & thank you Scott for telling it straight!! I am a mom of 6, kids are all adults now, when I was home raising them, I loved every minute of it!! If I had a tough day as moms can, my husband would come in the door & see how I was & always said " take a break, I got the kids" & I went out for a bit to get me time & to regroup. My husband & I always had a plan of action for what we wanted to accomplish together for our family & homestead. And raising 6 kids my husband went out of his comfort zone to persue better paying work to keep me home. He would even stop at the store for me after a 10 hour day to pic up a few thins if I didn't have time that day. Team work makes a family work. Now are kids are adults & we both still love hanging with all them & my husband & I still have goals & plans we are persuing as a couple after 32yrs of marriage he is still my best friend. Ladies being a homemaker is such a God given gift & raising kids, there is nothing like it. ❤ Scott & Kelli, there is another RU-vidr you two might also like, His name is Spencer Smith he tells it straight too, my husband & I love his channel. www.youtube.com/@spencersmith312

Haha ironically I thought about not watching your channel because you are living a life closer to how I want to live and it’s hard to not want that more but it’s not my husbands vision for my life specifically for me to be a homemaker. I’ve definitely been resentful and discontent even despite our many blessing. I’m reading the book Created to be his Help Meet by Debbie Pearl which was mentioned in one of your videos. Honestly. I don’t like it, but it’s been somewhat helpful for shifting my perspective towards gratitude. My Mom recommended Reveal the Gift by Lisa Cotter. I wonder if you have read that. I like both of your perspectives and find your content enjoyable.

I read the Pearl’s book and there’s just something that doesn’t feel comfortable about them. The basic concepts are good, but their application is a bit cult-like to me. I recommend any Elizabeth Elliot books for a classical view on Biblical womanhood, and Summa Domestica (three volume set) is an excellent, thorough, and more recent resource for wives and mothers. I’m an empty nester and bought the set. 😊 I’ll look into the book your mother recommended. Thank you!

But listen, here are some important points: 1.) It's important for everyone (for man and women) to work inside and outside their home. 2.) Many men - I'm sorry, it sounds feminist, but that's not my intention - are jealous of women working and simply achieving good results at work. Me as a woman, I'm not jealous at all when men are successful. This is actually one of the biggest problems. If a woman just stays home, the man feel better, but the woman necessarily not if she's a kind of person who loves to earn money and who enjoys working outside. 3.) People are individuals. And I'll always repeat it: If a woman wants to become a doctor or a lawyer or a marketing manager or a teacher (which I am), then she can still be a wife and have children. You just have to make sure to give your children enough attention and love. It would be a very depressing world if people were not allowed to follow their passions just to fulfill a role.

Scott, so this is your only picture of women working: Chugging their macchiatos from Starbucks? Yeah, these women exist, I know this category. But please, don't have a black and whie thinking, because I, as a woman, surely don't see myself chugging my macchiato at Starbucks. And if so, I will do it happily because I know that God has created me and I'm alive.

I love your videos and watch all of them and have gained a lot of knowledge from them. However I feel like since you guys are not actually parents you do not get a free pass to give such rude advice. Kids are humans and have free will and yes, they do need to be guided and given a good example but you can’t just say if they are bad it’s because there is bad around them. You have no idea what you’re talking about until you’re actually in the shoes.
