Such a wholesome concept for a chef to come into "normal's" kitchen and give them a personalized tip or two while cooking for them. I dig it. Totally.

I am *so happy* that Ben let her know that the "best by" date isn't the last date something can be used! Most people don't know that, and it makes me so sad!! Most things are still perfectly fine to use for months, or even years, after the "best by" date! It all depends on the item, how it's packaged, and how it's stored! Once an item is opened, that's when the time starts counting down.

he made regular everyday food, I love this! While food makes some people happy, it stresses me out. I am so excited to eat now, knowing I have all the ingredients already, and feel very capable of making those dishes.

You should do an episode (or 2) on organizing your kitchen (or get someone to help you). I think getting your space organized would be a useful step in getting better at your day to day food prep. Just a suggestion. 😊

Every time I watch your videos I relate so hard. Every 'problem' you have IS your adhd, and same! 'There's nothing to eat', being 'lazy', comfort foods, the chronic overwhelm, having so many ingredients but no idea what you have, your cupboards being unorganized.. please know, none of these are personal failings. These are all a direct result of your adhd and so many people deal with the same struggles. You're crushing it.

I really hope they turn this into a series.

Hi Taz, as someone with ADHD and depression as well, I've had to make a "rule" of sorts against calling myself words like "lazy!" I used to refer to myself as lazy constantly and it became a part of my identity. No I have to refer to myself as "tired" or "overtaxed" and on better days, I tell myself "I'm just trying my best." I have to realize my brain lacks the dopamine to make these "easy, everyday tasks" manageable. So I guess my encouragement is to not call yourself lazy!! (Even doing like a week challenge where you don't refer to yourself as lazy!) It helps me and might help? Love your videos!

hi taz, firstly, loved this video! secondly, wanted just to tip you to grate some lime or lemon peel (adding fresh coriander, parsley or basil makes it even better) to your rice or quinoa - makes such a tasty + elevated flavour! another tip (as you had lots of quinoa) is a very easy + quick quinoa salad: just make the quinoa and chop+add some tomato, cucumber, pepper, avocado, (red)onion, fresh coriander/parsley/basil and beans (I prefer chickpeas) - such a quick, super easy and delicious meal both cold or warm and can be meal-prepped for many days and as a side dish too along with a source of protein :) xx

I could kiss this man for firmly explaining the difference between a use by date & a best by date. The best by date is the company saying we guarantee maximum freshness up until this date which actually has a cushion of several months meaning they know how long their product maintains maximum freshness if stored & handled properly but just to be absolutely safe they shave a few months off. Canned & pantry dry goods can last years beyond the best by date

You are always wayyy better at your cooking when you try things than you ever think you're going to be 🙂🙂 but yeah I have things i put off and procrastinate and prioritise other things too... lots of them!! You are brilliantly productive and successful in so many other things 🙂 i am sure that if cooking really grabbed your interest - you absolutely would be in this too 🙂

Taz, I use kid shoe boxes to manage my spice cabinet. The box acts like a drawer, it allows easy access to the items at the back and corrals the bags of spices/mixes quite well (nothing falls on you). pull the box out and find the items desired. can be used in that rice/staple cupboard too. Getting a little bit of organization going can help you enjoy your kitchen. Hey Ben! great choice of dishes that can provide basis for expanded menu with minimal effort

Love this Taz. Perhaps you could look into getting a coach for ADHD as well. A lot of what you describe falls under executive dysfunction, lack of body awareness, and time blindness. These are so common with adhd and isn’t because you are lazy. You just may not have the best coping tools yet!

So good! I love having a can of butter beans adding a jar of ready made curry mix and rice and a 5 minute meal! Easy to just keep in the cupboard and so quick to make!
