A proper test of the Avid heated sleeping bag in nothing but my boxer shorts and a hat.

In this test I chose a cold winters night in mid January. The weather forecast predicted the temperatures would drop to 1 degrees centigrade so this was a good opportunity to get the Avid bedchair and Therma tech sleeping bag set up in my garden along with my filming gear, bivvy, thermometer, powerbank and my radio. I started the test by turning the bag on the maximum heat setting for 45 minutes then proceeded to strip down to my boxers. As soon as i got in I started to feel the warmth of the bag and felt immediate reassured about the long night ahead.
In this vlog I show you the settings i use and durations for those particular parameters.
This is a genuine test with no gimmicks, I'm in no way affiliated to Avid so this is a completely honest assessment with a real in depth perspective of its functionality and performance.

Mate you've hit the nail on the head about comfort being a priority that really resonates with me, I'm 55 now and want to be as comfortable as possible,I also want to be fishing as long into my older life as humanly possible. I'm guessing nights will be the first to go then a total scale down to light as possible. Tight lines pal Steve

How much chance of accidentally changing heating level in sleep?

It's difficult to say but I've done it 3 or 4 times in maybe 2 years.

I've got the Avid heated mattress and works really well especially with my bad back and keeps me warm in the colder months and still very comfortable with the extra padding glad I've got one 🎣👍🔥🔥🔥

I've heard Avid sell a heated mattress but didn't get a chance to have a look. I wouldn't buy one as I've got the bag but intrigued enough to have a look next time I'm at the tackle shop. We're lucky to have this sort of kit to prolong our time on the bank. Good to know it helps your back out. I guess it does the same as the heat creams on sale without the smell or mess. Thanks for the feedback pal. Steve
