A quick bit of scrappy hunting! Project parts from a Corsa B and we're getting a 2.0 Ecotec engine..

A quick update from a visit to 1st Choice Car Spares Accrington which had some old Vauxhalls when we visited in December. Unfortunately they had since crushed the Vectra CD 2.2 that had the air con pipes we needed. But, we've arranged to go back and strip the Cavalier CDX 2.0 16v for the engine and air con stuff, and got some useful parts from a Corsa B in the meantime.

The engine removal video is done, that'll be online Friday. Got an Astra CDX estate update to post first though, to keep the timeline in order, will have that done Weds

Hi I need a front fuel feed pipe for 2.2 petrol vectra part number GM 13109184 it has a silver disc incorporated in it which is spraying petrol can you help please as I don't want to scrap it with only 79 k on clock many thanks

You can just cut that disc out it doesn't do anything. Failing that try Autovaux

@@OnceDrivenForeverSmitten yes but no pipework or ecu or engine loom out of a 1995 Cav Sri well it’s not out yet but it will be soon otherwise the engine is getting weighed in

What..... no big car theft!!! Jokes aside I do like wandering around a scrap yard looking at cars and wondering what the story of the car was, if it ferried family about or took the granny to the Bingo! Also like great little upgrades to my cars from sporty models that may be in the scrap yard like alloys pedal for example. Great video as always.

I was only 18 yrs old, in 1991 my first car was a graphite grey 1988 2.0 Sri saloon, reg was still remember it was E238 TEX, got it from me uncle to drive, I was main . Driver as he didn't use it alot, it was 👌 proper pukka

Run a 97 Vectra 1.7 Isuzu for years, when the turbo stopped spooling, just tapped it with a hammer. Bomb proof.

Corsa B / Vectra B steering wheels are a straight fit on to the mk3 Astra/cavalier etc :)

It doesn't like any of the recent videos, it wants "we buy" or "will it start?" stuff. Got a couple of workshop/garage videos in pipeline so will see what happens with those, plus the big Lotus Carlton one I'm getting help to edit.

Those 2.0 ecotec engines are good motors and fairly powerful for what they are (140bhp) as long as the headgaskets are good!!!

I’ve got a 67 plate insignia, Do you ever see them in scrapyards? I need a cover for the door handle that covers where you put the key. If that makes sense. 🤣

I've not long got rid of a corsa b ignition lock.! For the my corsa c when my barrel snapped I just taped the key under the cowling and removed the chip from the other one when I got a Lockset off fleabay. I think you have to take the clocks and fuse box too if you don't have ecu access

You should phone up glasgow Muirhead Stewarts metals. put your name down Dougie. if they get something coming In. they allways have odd 90s vauxhalls coming in

Iv had 26 different Cavalier's over the years and never had a bad one. Only Vauxhall's I stayed away from was anything with a 2.2 engine, reason being Vauxhall never really did make a good 2.2 engine!

I had an vectra SRI 2.2 direct, That was a great car never had an issue with the engine.

@@johnny6476 the problems with them all relate to the oil pump or timing chain and now they can't run on E10. They do pull very well when healthy

Is the 2.2 direct the worst engine VX ever used in the last 25 yeras?

The 2.2 petrol is the only Vauxhall engine that is not compliant with E10 petrol. Apparently causes corrosion/electrolysis of brassy etc things in the pump ...or something like that anyway. It will probably fail at some point. The 2.2 I think was GM's 'world' engine don't think it was designed in Germany or UK?

@@Efferpheasants Dont forget blocked chain spray lubrication jet, HP fuel Pump and Fuel pressure regulator issues too.
