Last year I quit my corporate job to start my own business doing freelance web design, making art, and making youtube videos. In this vlog I take you through some moments from my life lately and also share with you the realities of how I spend my time as a freelancer and small youtuber, and where the majority of my income comes from. And also show you my garden and growing collection of cat decor. It's a great time, I hope you enjoy 🥰

Hey Jen! Fellow creative here also doing a mix of web design/video/photo. Just a thought for your web design side -- I think more keywords for web designer in LA on your main pages and starting a blog would help you rank. Not sure if you have Google Business setup, but that's def helpful for people searching for services in your area. Majority of my leads have been via SEO and the occasional lead coming through Instagram. Outreach and network is also important so people in your city know about you. For your products, you could team up with other designers/decorators/artists that could use your fabrics/patterns and leverage their audience. Love your designs by the way. I like the fun and funky 70's vibes. Anyways, just wanted to send some love as I know how tough it can be running your own creative business. I'm also a fairly new dad so the pressure is on to make sure I can support the fam. haha Wishing you and other fellow creatives all the best and if there's anything I can share that might help, please let me know. I also need to be more consistent on my YT so content ideas are welcomed! :) -Tuan

amazing! thank you so much for taking the time to write out this thoughtful comment, this is all so helpful. I know I need to work on my SEO for my web design website, I actually want to redo the whole thing and be a little more strategic about it but I have been putting it off. but this is just the boost of motivation I needed. I have been toying with the idea of creating a blog for web design content, I think you're right that it would help with ranking. I never really thought my web design clients would come through SEO, I thought it'd be mostly referrals and through social media/youtube. But it's so interesting that the majority of your clients come from SEO, that makes me think this is an untapped avenue that I shouldn't overlook. thanks for the motivation and encouragement! wishing you luck with your own business & congrats on being a new father!

how do you find work? are you pitching web design on any freelance websites?

it's been primarily through referrals so far.. I probably should start using some freelance websites. do you have any you'd recommend? I need to find some that value quality of work over low prices
