One thing about Nicky is that she’ll enjoy her natural hair and keep it healthy too. That’s why I love watching your channel. You’re a great example of how you don’t have to chose between length/health and being cute/stylish 💕

I have short( 3-4 inches of hair) high porosity 4c hair. I pretty much do the same thing for my hair. Day 1 to day 5: twists or 2 or three French braids Day 6 and 7 puff or twist out. I wear headwraps more to protect my hair from the elements. I hope people recognised that she did not put gel or styling cream on her hair every day or wear her hair down and out every day. don't reapply edge control to your edges every day either. just re-wet the edge control and tie it down with a scarf.

Honestly when my hair starts to act up. First step clarify, and trim my ends. It may sound strange but clarifying really helps my hair to respond to moisture products.

Girl a diffuser!!? I never thought about it like that 😢. Think about it, even the heater can destroy our hair. When I get heat damage I literally just leave it alone and let it heal with deep conditioner. If I take care of it it heals in like 6 months.

I’m not gonna lie I wash my hair every 6 days, as I wear my hair in a wash n go. I deep condition every time I wash my hair. I use the hot head head cap and leave it for an hour. I diffuse every time with dyson, but luckily my hair is heat free damage. I think the more you deep condition, is the better for your hair. I used to wash and deep condition my hair once every two weeks. Since changing to every 6 days, it’s really flourished.

I got heat damage last year in February 2022 when my regular stylist had to travel. He told me last month March 2023 that there are still some straight pieces in there. OMG! I hope he cuts them all off this week on Wednesday when I get my first silk press in over a year. He diffuses my hair but he does it with his hands so if his hands are burning for sure he will be turning it down. lol!

@@marleyhill34 I saw someone use heat protectant on top of their products before diffusing, honestly not a bad idea just need to fight a light heat protectant

In the video that Nicky uploaded before this one, a month ago, she did a silk press and curl. At one moment she shows her hair and it reaches her waist when completely straight.

I go to a natural hair salon from time to time. The last time I went she blew dry my hair and I smell that brunt smell. Now I’m kind of iffy about going back. I got one spot on the top of my head that’s wavy instead of curly
@marleyhill34
@marleyhill34 Год назад
it should not smell burnt. I dont' care what any stylist says. My stylist blowdries and flat irons my hair and it doesn't smell burnt. Neither do my tools at home. They need to turn down the heat and clean and replace their tools if they smell.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Someone was not safeguarding your great care. Please really long and hard before going back there. I no longer let anyone touch my hair to style it. I have too many horror stories with trusting stylist through the years. It's kind of like dating, people will say anything to get you in that chair, but once you're in it you are under their control. God bless.

I got a some heat damage from a silk press last summer. Went back to my old stand by Shea Moisture Strengthen and Restore Mask and Condtioner for a couple of weeks. Next started using Olaplex Bond #0 and #3 and #(Olaplex Intense Moisture Mask) to Strengthen and rebuild the bonds in my heat damaged hair. I also alternated Briogeo Don't Despair Deep Conditioni Mask (protein Repair Mask) which is a😊 balanced moisture and Protein Treatment Got rid of heat damage in about 6 months. My hair is mid back length and low porosity. Hope this helps 😊

my straight ends are still in there from over a year ago and I kept up with all of my trims and treatments. Lol! I dunno why they don't just leave...at least only my stylist can see them because I know I went in with the scissors in the autumn/fall and chopped off big chunks of straight ends. Lol! We both and have cutting for over a year and those damned straight pieces are still there. I guess some people would say it's heat trained but I don't want heat-trained hair. I want my afro! I just like a straight trim.

Your dance can be reparable if the bond hasn’t broken in the hair. If it weakened then added protein or using a bond builder would really help

Do you get alot of fairy knots? I often wonder whether other black women experience this, because I dont hear much talk about it.

I used to get a lot of single strand knots. It was caused by me over manipulating my hair. The solution I used was to trim my hair, then go section by section to get the rest of the knots that are higher up the hair strand, and lastly use low manipulation meaning when I wash my hair I don’t do vigorous motions, I rake my fingers down ward in sections so I get my scalp, but don’t make my hair tangle. Do the same process for conditioner , but focus on the ends. For style, I usually do twists, keep my hands out of my hair, and wear a satin scarf at night. You’re still going to whet some knots because that’s the nature of hair, but they will be less than before, and you won’t get them as often.

@@sarahconteh1406 Thank you. I trim my hair every 6 months. I'm not sure if that's good enough. 🥹

@@tiahnarodriguez3809 I usually twist my hair into 4 large twists that I wear for 2 weeks. I sleep with a satin head tie, wash every 2 weeks and don't manipulate my hair much at all except to retwist every 7 days. I think the culprit might be that I touch up the ends of the twists with some moisturizer so it doesn't dry out. I do that every couple days so maybe I should just leave it alone. I also trim my hair every 6 months and idk if that's often enough. Thank you for your help love 🩷

Are we the only women who cut off straight hair from what we deem, "heat damage". Apple cidar vinegar, and the regular use of protein treatments, and conditioners like Oleplex, corrected my heat damage over time. I did not have to cut my natural hair. ➿➿➿ No offense to you Nicky. Your hair is beautiful.
