A Review of Vanilla Beyond (Mod for Medieval 2 Total War) 

Even though I find the more complex mods such as dac and ss6.4 very engaging, vanilla beyond is by far the most fun ive had with this game.

I've been playing Medieval 2 for a few years now, have about 1500 hours on it on Steam, and I must say most of those come from this mod. It's incredibly replayable, you can do much more than in regular vanilla, and really once you get used to this - you can never really come back to "true" vanilla M2. Azumi was working on a mod that removes the Americas, however expands into Africa and adds a few more factions into Europe, like Sweden and Serbia and others, as well as tribes in Africa. There hasn't been an update on it in a long while afaik, which is a shame, as I really love what he's done with Vanilla Beyond.

I must say that Azumi was very receptive to new ideas, feedback and constructive criticism when it came to the last patches and improvements for the mod. Total Vanilla beyond is a surprisingly fun mod to play. Good review mate. Cheers.

It would be cool if there was a Europa Barbarorum style mod for M2TW, like a mod that is to M2TW as Europa Barbarorum 1 and 2 is to Rome and Medieval. Like for example all the names of the factions are in their native language like Heilig Romanishe Reich (Holy Roman Empire) etc. and the units and announcers speak their native language, and there are role playing elements and a lot of campaign scripts similar to Europa Barbarorum on top of 4 turns a year. So basically everything that Europa Barbarorum has, except with a medieval touch to it, and instead of legionnaires and barbarians it’s knight on knight, etc. Stainless Steel 6.4 is almost close to this vision.

i ve been playing Vanilla Beyond for a little time now as Norway, and let me summarize it in one word: BRILLIANT:D

I personally found Azumi's other mod"Medieval 2 Total Bananas" mod to be more unique, as I feel that the new factions are pretty barebones and don't add anything that SS and its submods don't do better. By contrast, Total Bananas more or less keeps the Vanilla campaign map with a handful of new settlements and the kingdoms DLC units, and then goes absolutely crazy and adds in the entire America's campaign map into the game, and even adds Brazil. This makes it a truly unique experience for playing the European Colonial game while also including the Eurasian conflicts and nations in, unlike the fairly mediocre America's DLC.

when it comes to deciding which is better - Vanilla Beyond or Vanilla Kingdoms (the mod made by Pike(don't take that for the truth because I can't remember who made the mod for MELKOR), it's obvious- Vanilla Beyond is far superior, far more units are added, more flavour a much more in depth experience and more engaging whilst expanding upon the difficulty by a noticeable amount but at the same time giving the player the means to adapt to the challenges. It's a fun mod that I have always made clear that should be recognised more. Heck this thing keeps hotseats in the game and certainly is fun to try a hotseat on.

Going to try a Lithuania campaign when or how conversion happens in vanilla beyond?

So I've just started playing the mod (as Ireland), and one thing that has struck me is movement speed. Units move surprisingly quick in this mod. It feels more like Rome: Total War unit speed than Medieval 2 (which is not necessarily a bad thing). I'm just wondering if this is normal for the mod, or something is bugging out.

I am thankful for all of you kids/guys that keep Moding the greatest game ever made 😎 legends . So many good mods but if you like to stick to the original Vanilla Beyond is just perfect

Do you know if there's a submod or just a way to keep the americas unexplorable until "the world is round" event? I really like the fact that the americas are nearer than vanilla, but i'm not a huge fan of Apaches invading England during the middle ages 😂

Units are same? Can I use 2 mods in same time?

Hey man you should check out bulat steel. Its similar to stainless steel but alot alot more historically accurate. Has many script events that can be turned off and on. I definitely reccomend it! Love the videos, keep it up !

I want to try it. But I can't seem to get it to run, even following the how too's I could find.

after playing Stainless Steal and Bellum Crucis i dont know if i will play Vanilla beyond, maybe someday. Nice vid!

I downloaded this mod a few weeks ago. It's super enjoyable and fast paced as units, agents, and boats can travel greater distances

I like this mod but how you install it, the process of installation is very important because i don't know what to do, i tried some methods but they didn't work, so maybe you can show a video how to install this mod? I don't understand the instructions that everyone gives.

AI goes crazy in this mod. I started as Scotland and I ended up, being constantly ataccked by full-stack combined armies of Ireland, England, Norway Denmark and France (VH/VH)

Playing for the Norwegians, I was surprised that there is an opportunity to return to paganism. Of course I chose this option)

I think just from the gameplay perspective this is the best medieval 2 mod.

THIS IS THE BEST MOD I HAVE EVER PLAYED. It made me come back to m2tw after years . The last mod i played that was Like this is kingdoms grand campaign. But it is nothing compared to the amount of scripting in this. Also the map changes when you build farms. Is amazing. I only wanna know, how can i remove the one unit per faction cap that some unit like that heavy cavalry from constantinople has?

i played the mod and enjoyed it but it has only one issue. the ai just keep spamming tons and tons of armies

watched and did all the walkthroughs on how step by step. Even got rid of the download in the computer completed and tried again. NOTHING

'Total Bananas -1099' made by the same Modder is far better. Vanilla Beyond is bad.

I like your videos a lot and I hope that makes you happy but what you are lacking the most in your reviews is that you're rarely specific and quite generic. I'd like to know more about what changes it has, minor details, a more in-depth look, etc. This 6 minute video taught me nothing! Keep it up though.
