I discovered Your channel literally few weeks ago but I really enjoy it. Also while playing basic Medieval 2 campaign, I always dreamed about adding factions from Kingdoms to main campaign at the same map. It makes game more dynamic.

I had really luck Fatimid campaign in SS a couple years ago where the Catholics just kept going for Vilnius, Byzantinium and london once of all places, they only came for me once I tgink

JLMP's Vanilla Kingdoms is an update of sorts of this original mod. I've not played it hardly at all yet but i can see that it has a binch of regions and cities that this original version does not have, like Bristol for instance.

Thanks for the vid Sir Melkor. However I must confess my sins. I’ve recently converted from Total War to Crusader Kings 2. Although the game lacks any detailed combat like TW, the politics and shit is amazing, even the crusades. As a result I haven’t played any Total war for the last few weeks.

This mod is similar to one that you reviewed a year ago 'Total Vanilla Beyond' because it gives more flavour to the base game by adding Ireland,Norway,Lithuania Novgorod and others on the map, thus making the gameplay way more interesting. I wonder though which of these two(Vanilla Kingdoms/Vanilla Beyond) is more immersing, what do you recommend Melkor? Also is Vanilla Kingdom more safe from crashes than Vanilla Beyond? (I remember having a 'glorious' Lithuania campaign on Stainless Steel ruined by a end-turn-crash)

I guess it's more of a preference - this is as close to vanilla as possible to keep it stable and play just like vanilla but it can still bug out or just crash in menu due to the amount of factions. Tho the mod wasn't really made for immersion rather just pure gameplay, depends if you enjoy playing vanilla more.

I love this, it is something that I would love to do but I just don't have the nerve or narrating skills to try. It'd be cool to also do a narration sort of thing with really well-fought battles that your subscribers or Patreon supporters can submit.

I'm glad you enjoy these : ) I would have done those types of battle spectating, but those have already been done by countless other people - so I decided to avoid it to stay 100% unique. However, I do host tournaments monthly on the 2nd channel and show the matches Live. We have a Rome Total War 3v3 event starting Saturday, on that channel - link in description, at 1pm uk time. : )

Hey Melkor, does this mod also add the kingdoms factions in the America's or not? Because if it did, then if would create a really interesting situation there. Also do you know if the AI is capable of colonizing the America's by themselves, or can the player only really do it? i.e. is the AI smart enough?

Not the Americas, not enough room on the map and space in the game. To add the American factions the modder would have had to cut European ones. Only the player can do it. I've heard a couple say it has happened with the AI once for them, but I've covered more Ai only than anyone else by far and never seen more than a diplomat make it.

MELKOR ok I thought so for both answers. Isn’t it the limit 25 factions or something along those lines? And yeah I mean the America’s were put there as more of an easter egg for the player, not really another theater of war

Aren't you able to remove all the human names from the main screen? It's not normal. It makes everything too cluttered.

Love that you’re doing this! Question: isn’t this campaign over the hardcoded faction limit? The Aztecs are still in it! So the Mongols and the Timurids are gone, then? Still doesn’t add up! Also: they should’ve changed the starting date to 1100ad

Aztecs and Timurids are still there, tho the mod has unfortunately reached the hardcoded limit so factions like Kalmar Union and the Americas had to be shelved. Also I'm not entirely sure how Europe would've looked like in 1100AD, not really into history so kept the original start date :p

Dolfy that’s the thing: it looked broadly the same, except the crusades hadn’t happened in 1080 so that’s wrong. In 1100 the Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Principality of Antioch had been set up, so that would work. Only difference would be that York was definitely in English hands. But that was wrong in the original game as well.

Hello Melkor, I have a question: Yesterday I got the DLC divided imperia for Rome 2, only to have the fraction of Judaä but the fraction was not in this DLC as a sub culture! Is the fraction Judaä aviable or only in the Beta-Version of Rome 2?

Hey @MELKOR, did Pike remove the secondary weapons of the pike and halberds? Those units are amazing but once the go into close quarters they drop their pikes for short swords and then they get stomped...

yah, that’s a problem with vanilla to. wether it has to do with positioning or something else idk. i remember defending 3 passages in front on the first gate in a drive battle with pikes. the first held strong throughout. the second had a lot of units switch to secondary weapons and die.”, and the 3rd largely fell apart.

This mod seems a bit outdated and too much of vanilla game. There are a lot of better medieval europe mods like bulat/stainless steel, bellum crucis. These mods use the limits of med2 engine to maximum and are more interesting overall.

@@MelkorGG But everyone tired of vanilla i suppose cause it was released so long ago. Mods add much needed spice for that dinosaur. I cant even play vanilla now cause its too boring.
