ARod was an absolute MONSTER in that playoff championship run. Once he woke up, everything changed for the Yankees. They became that much more devastating, and were damn near impossible to beat.
Thats exactly it. Those first couple of games against the twins allowed him to relax, which then carried over to the rest of the lineup. It made them even scarier than they already were.
@@Yoy28 looking back on it, we should’ve known he was gonna be good this postseason after that 2 home run 7RBI inning to end the season and go 30/100 on the season
@@axlestarr4393 Matsui carried us in the World Series, but we wouldn't have gotten there without A-Rod. Matsui scored one run and 3 RBIs with .670 OPS in the ALCS. A-Rod scored six runs and 6 RBIs with 3 home runs and 1.519 OPS in the ALCS. He single-handedly carried our offense the entire series and was involved in more than 1/3 of our entire runs scored. The 2009 ALCS was extremely close... 3 games were decided by one run, and 5 games were decided by within three runs.
The only way this postseason could've been better for Alex Rodriguez would've been if the Yankees had defeated the Red Sox in the ALCS rather than the Angels. It wouldn't have erased 2004, really nothing other than the Yankees coming back from 3-0 to beat the Red Sox can ever do that, but it would've been a nice little bit of retribution. Still a phenomenal performance from Rodriguez.
That hit in game 4 of the WS was the most important hit of that and mayb3 his career....if yanks los3 game 4 then they have to face Lee which they lost in game 5 now its 3 2 series lead Philly heading back to NY making them have to win game.6.and 7
Game 3 game tying homer against Nathan. 😂 I was there. I was working in gate six cleaning. Boy that was special to watch. Yankee stadium erupted. Had a older lady hug me randomly 😂
Would be nice if we can get someone getting into a postseason hot streak like that again. I get the feeling #28 happens before Judge turns into Mattingly 2.0, it'll happen through over performance a la 2000.
Matsui did just that little bit more in the WS, but if there were an overall playoffs MVP, and we all agreed that Mo can't get it every year, Arod would have 2009 for sure.
I also never understood how cc who yes pitched 2 games in the alcs but without arod they don't win. Hideki ws mvp deserved for sure...but without arod all year long and playoffs they don't win
