I get the distinct feeling that you have a soft spot for the Gladiator, me too, its story is a David and Goliath story and I always stand up for the little guy. Sadly the Gladiator is very overshadowed by other more famous aircraft most know of the Spitfire but will not have heard of the Gladiator. "Faith, Hope and Charity" would make quite a good motto.
The RAF and SAAF used the plane against the Italians in Ethiopia during that WW2 campaign also. Indeed, that campaign included soldiers from the U.K., India, Nigeria and others. It might make a good episode for this channel!
Sweden was NOT neutral in the Winter War. It declared itself "non-belligerent" which made for providing with much of its own military hardware as well as a lot of officially sanctioned volunteers. It was all quite deliberate.
